Happy memories of teenage years hanging about in Chesham. Great to see Chittendens (electrical goods), Darvells bakery, Mayo & Hawkes (bikes). Probably all long gone to online shops and Greggs. Also spotted Emmanuel Church and its church hall next door. Great friends, great music, great times. Thanks for posting.

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the world through 14 year old eyes again. Thank you.

Wow, some things I never realised - Boot & Slipper has had that name way longer than I realised, Wenzels in Chesham used to be a small petrol station and Superdrug has been in the same place in Amersham since before I was born (1993). Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic video of the way we were in Chesham and Amersham.

Pedestrianising the high street was definitely one of the best things they've done for the town

I lived in Chesham in the early sixties. All changed, now.

The "Boot and Slipper" was better know as the "George and Dragon" by the locals; but went back to the old name when the landlords, George and his wife, left ;-)

Do you have any info on Chesham in the 80s?

Not that much in many ways. Chesham seems to me to have grown largely in the 1970s and then only modernised but not developed.

Those roads are so dead compared to now it’s all snarled up

Rubbish. Repeat it at normal speed and us “oldies” would then be able to see how many shop names have changed. That’s recording history, not blurry pictures. Try again please!!0

It is at normal speed filmed from a moving car. Sorry you don't like it, I merely posted it in case anyone was interested. The quality is a 1989 domestic video, not a profession film

@@carlton_mpj I’m an older gent of 70. My respect to you. We all have a choice to watch or not. I see his point but maybe he is looking for SpecSavers 😅
