- Dad's First Look At This K11 Nissan Micra - What Will His Reaction Be To This Timewarp Car?
Around a year ago I took ownership of this lovely K11 Nissan Micra
Same owner since 2003 - covering only 23,000 miles from new.
It really is a time warp and a testament to its former owner, Greta.
Dad however has never seen this car owing to it being tucked away safely in the Coupland collection and never needing any TLC from Dad. It's MOT time for this car soon and so I've finally had to bring it to Dad for a Pre MOT check up - What will Dad think to this little Timewarp car?

Morning Chaps ,you know what's really lovely about that Micra ?
The fact that you paid the previous lady owner the fair and proper price ,well done Jon
Normally cars like this turn up on channels with a thumbnail along the lines of look what we blagged the worlds nicest Micra and it was a steal at only £300 quid.
You need to spend the time effort and some money now to make certain that it survives for many years to come
Thanks for saving the old girl.
Thank you - hopefully people by now realise we are honest and (hopefully) good people just enjoying doing what we are doing. Absolutely more than happy to pay someone a fair price for something, yes a bargain is lovely now and again, but people will always remember you more fondly if you are fair with them :)
The Micra Vibe originally started life as a S they were delivered to dealers with the vibe sticker in the glovebox. This takes me back to my late 90s Nissan dealer job
Excellent! Thanks for letting me know that - great piece of trivia
@@JonCoupland I had the pleasure of working at a Nissan/Proton/Perodua dealer. Good times
@@TheRealBigDan Nissan, Proton and Perodua! Dram come true for me
Look at the anodising on them bolt heads 😂
Needs a nice coat of lanoguard underneath and good waxing to protect it 👍🏻
Absolutely - its coming :)
Great car, it really is a modern interpretation of the classic Mini ❤ Nissan Motor NV was the European headquarters of Nissan located in Amsterdam back then. Don't know if that means anything.
Ah that makes sense now!
Passed my driving test in an early one of these. It was a special edition "Micra Wave"! See what they did there? Lol! They will always have a special place in my heart!
Thats awesome - its amazing how many people had them as their first cars :)
Listen to Dad, give it a place in the shed👍🏻 This is such a timewarp car and will be a doddle to enjoy and cherish.
Think we need to build another shed 😉
You should mothball it so Dad can drive it when he retires 😂
🤣🤣 which retirement
The Nissan Europe NV on the plate indicates that Nissan Europe had its headquarters in the Netherlands at the time.
NV stands for "Naamloos Vennootschap" which would translate to Public Limited Company (Ltd.).
Fantastic! Now i've learnt something today! Thanks :)
The boot and rear seats look like they've never had so much as a shopping bag on them. What a beauty!
Potentially they haven't 😅😮
One of the best examples of possibly the greatest car in the world. If anything I prefer the lower spec 1.0 to the higher spec bigger engine ones. Makes you appreciate how good a car can be.
This is one I feel you should keep and needs to go in the special garage
Need to save up for a special space for it i think!
Looking forward to the pre MoT vid
It's coming ☺️
Happy Sunday 🎉
Same to you!
Has a k1q cvt as a curtesy car while mine was being fixed very mini like go round a corner at 30 😂
Ha i bet! I do also have a CVT but havent driven it too far to be able to comment on the handling
"Lovely"... I lost count lol.. I love it.. (Phil)
☺️👍 Cheers Phil
I had two of these one in a burgundy and same one in the video absolutely loved these cars they were my first and second car and my blue one got me to Birmingham and back on one tank 👍
Awesome. Thanks for watching
Such a time warp car. Beautiful. We need a sticker made up Mr coupland , I'm thinking k11 outline with the phrase " 'int it looovleh" inside. Much love please keep up the great content.
That would be cool!
Saw Alison Moyet at Lytham Festival a couple of years ago. Absolutely superb performance, on tour next year and would highly recommend!
I'm a big fan ☺️
I’m rewatching this. It’s fantastic Dad content. He loves it.
Thanks for enjoying it again 😁👍
What a beautiful K11, love it 😍
Thanks a lot!
For me, I’ve probably seen enough pre-mot’s, especially on a nearly mint car. Perhaps just a short summary. Keen to see videos where stuff really needs doing though, like a mini restoration. Don’t wear Dad out though…time to see you in a boiler suit wielding a grinder. (Hey if Alex’s Assets can do it?????). Or maybe Amy doing a mig welding course?
Noted! The Pre MOT video actually took quite a tangent (you will see) - so that should suffice.
That sounds like a good idea get jon on the tools
@@gregshearer423 That means id have to get Dad on the filming - might be some interesting content
@@JonCoupland am sure he’d manage
The Micra is overshadowed by the cool old 406 estate now that's a car
Dad's had it from nearly new! Check out our videos on it on the channel
It’s lovely. Lovely lovely lovely lovely. I’ve lost count how lovely dad thinks it is 🤗
🤣🤣
the old man is cooming over this car
Aye he's a fan of it
Morning Jon what a fantastic car and a real time warp I agree with Pete it’s totally lovely and it needs to be cherished as it is one of the best there is likely to be
I would definitely think either that one or the china blue one should remain with you and maybe part with the other - I definitely think Pete likes it and would be a good garage mate for the lovely Nissan note! All the best to you all Daniel
I keep trying to give it to him but apparently he doesnt want it ;)
@@JonCoupland ask your mom lol 😂
My very first car was 1998 K11 1,3 SI model , It was battered little thing but had a solid engine , loved that little car. I will always have a soft spot for the K11
I love how many people have fond memories as them being a first car :)
Brilliant I LOVED These
We love them too 😁👍
I have this feeling that your dad really quite likes it, even though he didn't give much away 😁
He certainly does 🤣
I think we can safely say it's 'lovely'. 😄
I have one in the same colour, 32K miles, not quite poverty spec since it has the original CD player, electric windows, rear parcel shelf speakers, electric door mirrors and a rev counter.
Unfortunately, it has succumbed to the paint flaking at the top of the boot-hatch, the rear window surround has bulged out but doesn't let water in to the boot, and the roof has faded in the sun. 51-plate Sunderland version. Great car.
Still sounds a lovely thing! Reliable and im happy its loved :)
I think your dad likes it 😀
He certainly does!
Nice car goes well cheap and charming
Cheers :)
It's a little stunner!
It certainly is ☺️
Found a used one ( 1998 model) for my late father-in-law in 2004. Fabulous car that never went wrong. around 2009 some cretin walked over it bending the bonnet and roof. As it was worth practically nothing we thought it would be written off. No the insurance company paid for the entire roof to be cut off and replaced with a new one, together with the bonnet. Weird or what...... Car was still going strong when he died in 2013
Thats amazing! Brilliant they also saw that it was worth saving. Glad it served him well
That's what I remember about the K11 reliable little car. My uncle had one don't think it ever broke down but the rot got to it. It's a very clean example😊
😁
Beautiful car , Jon ... it would make someone a great first car , someone who would really appreciate it 👌
Couldn't agree more!
I had a red g reg one back in 2006 paid £100 for it low mileage but it needed a lot of welding (wasn't a problem for me) but was slow i put a 1.3 engine in it lasted me 2 years alot of are still used in autograss and banger raceing
Fantastic - im so glad to hear they are loved by so many!
Nice to see some love for the K11. I've had 2 k10's and 3 K11's in my lifetime. Currently have a prefacelift k11 1.0 passion lol. Had it 5 years and its never let me down apart from a bit of welding on the outer sils its been a cheap run around. Im about to try out some Lanoguard to keep the rust at bay...🤣🤣
Excellent 👌👍
It's a lovely lovely thing.
:)
In 2003 I bought a Micra Tempest K11 new for £7995 from Arnold clark ( big mistake) it was the last of the line before the newer uglier Micra came onto the market, it was a great little car and had all the extras electric front windows and air con and a manual sunroof, but the rust and build quality was its biggest issue its the only car I have ever owned that rusted so quickly on the underside the car went for scrap in 2011 the engine was in perfect running order but the rust killed her to the point that welding her underneath would be uneconomical it needed new sills on both side a new Sump which became paper thin with corrosion and the lower front subframe cross member needed completely replaced the doors had dropped on their hinges and the rear brake drum kept on seizing, I loved that little car it was a little gem but it was not built for our roads the corrosion protection was non existent. I occasionally see one on the roads they seem to be driven by young lads who pimp them out with fancy wheels and dropped suspension it amazes me that are still on the road given the corrosion issues
She sounded a honey - its a shame the corrosion is / has killed a lot of these off - im enjoying hearing peoples positive memories about the humble K11
Now that does deserve a Lovely Jubbly comment, nice one Jon..
Thank you kindly
I'm sensing that your dad likes these. Dunno why, just vague vibes I get!
🤣 he may have hinted in the video a time or two
My gran looked to upgrade her N plate Hollywood to a 52 plate Vibe in the pale green colour, but she decided to keep hers as she loved it that much.
Im glad she kept her N reg :)
Needs to be undercover and off the grass to protect it
Absolutely ☺️👍
@@JonCouplandThat’s why the Audi A4 suspension etc was so crusty….. plus road salt spray not washed off….
me and my brother both had one we reffered to them as blobby, never had a problem with either, wish I still had it.
Brilliant wee cars ☺️
Its a keeper Jon - I agree with Pete - sacrifice a Proton and keep this absolute gem
😁
Dad should keep that for a few years. He’s the ideal owner.
I'll see if I can convince him to keep it in his shed 🤣
"Get rid of Geoff.... NOOO!!!" 😂
🤣🤣 not at all
Saving money by not painting inner wings, under bonnet etc
Ah that makes sense!
If I could locate a good one in Scotland, it could be an excuse to "get the missus a new car" 😬 Well played beating KGF, can you imagine the lunatic price they'd retail it for? 😂
I'd expect a retail of around 4995£
Cliff Richard and Richard Claydermann on the cassette player…..
Perfect
I love the color and would like to be able to repaint mine but I don't know the specific color code, do you happen to know it?
int it lovely
Int it 🤣
@@JonCoupland lovely really lovely haha
Can we see the nissan note in the background as them are a lovey cat to them E11 note?

See here
Also what you get for £2 grand you can always buy a 2013 Fiat 500 in Yellow with 84k on the clock all running sort of well LOL On a serious note my friend is going to buy it in 2 months when he has saved the cash so thank goodness i will soon be able to get a nice i10 again something i just turn the key and can drive 40 or 50 miles and back without worrying whats that rattle noise etc lol
:)
@@JonCoupland cheers Jon 😀
Give your dad the micra
I keep trying to 😁
Whys your dad keep sniffing etc like hes been sniffing coke 😂😊
We can't afford that round here mate
@@JonCoupland I disagree 😂😆
Does anyone know what separates this from the basic S, apart from a sticker. All I know is mine has the remote boot and petrol cap openers. The insurance increase IMHO doesn't justify the difference between this and the S but what do I know!
Would be great to know :)
i have a p reg 31000 miler the one thing that lets down is no power steering
Ah yes it makes them quite heavy that way
@@JonCoupland especially when my 03 seicento turns effortlessly
I liked the newer Micra from the 00s better as they were also very reliable but safer as they were larger , Still though i need to get another Hyundai i10 lol missing my 2011 model and hating the Fiat 500 its been the most unreliable vehicle ive ever bought and its only like 10 year old not good FIAT lol
Good Welsh name Glyn Hopkin…..
:)
Is your CVT one just as clean?
It certainly is ☺️
Hold onto it Jon. Get rid of something else and show it.
Orrrrr keep everything else too 😉👍🤣😅
they go to Nigeria to become a taxi
Reliable!
Dude your like 50 and your still getting your dad to fix your car.
Do you lice at home too?
Maybe I've had a hard paper round but I'm 20 years off 50 yet 😉 - Dad fixes them for me because ... He's a mechanic. That's his skillset. When Dad needs some advice on my specialist subject (of which I have a successful career) I help him out - but we don't have a TH-cam about that 🤣
And no hopefully there is no lice at my home. I do however live with my wife and my own family - I do think I said at the beginning of the video 'ive brought the car to Dad's House' 😉 that should have been a big clue.
@@JonCoupland wow, you have had a hard life. Get down the gym mate.
What's your skill set? Only fans?
I'm glad you sorted the lice.
Do more proton videos they are under rated
done my drivers licence in one of these, one of Nissans best creations
Absolutely 😁
Thats the best smart car ever built very relieble sell the audi keep this
I'll be keeping most things :)
