I'm gonna be honest. I saw that first pillar at the start and thought "No one way he made that out of cardboard. That's so detailed!" I'm sitting here flabbergasted while eating my sandwich.
Yeah, it's like watching Bob Ross paint a randon sky, and 10 minutes later, it's a perfect mountain scene. You watched how you got there, but are still amazed. 😂 Great Video!
Three tips I've learned when working with this kind of terrain: 1. Use a similar color marker to color in any white edges that still show after assembly. 2. When possible, add an extra bead of hot glue to the (non-visible) insides of corners, particularly along long joints. 3. When possible, add weight. In this particular project I would stack several washers or pennies on the very bottom base before gluing the main section down. It helps to keep things from getting knocked around during play. Another awesome project, Kris!
@@davidrath4931 They'll be open both sides - but you will be able to butt them up against a wall too (or just describe it's an enclosed stairway - but leave them open for gameplay). The trick is going to be making them modular (in the sense that they can be as tall/long as we like)
i’ve no one to play with since we moved, so i’ve just started making little scenes and placing them on shelves all around my office at home. these pillars are gorgeous and they’ll be next!
This is some of the coolest terrain I've seen in a while, hard to believe it's just printed paper and cardboard! Looks like I don't need to invest in a Proxxon after all, haha!
I thought about gluing something to the inside - but they actually turned out to be quite 'bottom heavy' - so I didn't bother in the end. I wouldn't hurt though - especially if you like some heft to your pieces :)

Great!! I might extrapolate this and make some really fancy stalactites/stalagmites. By the way, have I missed it or have you never done an icy terrain? Something like ice texture that could be applied on the cavern or mine sets you did before.
The only thing I've done for that kind of thing is the bonus floor texture in the modifications/requests pdf: drive.google.com/file/d/17tUUoezvYyLkNLwKq6SxOh69hVJrMcX_/view?usp=sharing (it's on page 5)

What kind of sandwich tho?

Its an affiliate pdf link in the description though.... all the detail is pre done by someone on a computer

Glad to hear that you liked it!
Weighting, whenever possible, really does make a difference.
And yeah, coloring white space is essential.
These are just next level and while they're all amzing, I'm really loving the broken columns and the scatter piece.
Thanks (the broken ones did turn out better than I expected :) ).
The art design of your pieces is so great! They really make you want to delve into some dungeons!
Thanks. Now all I need are some dragons for those dungeons ;)
Beautiful enough to bring a tear to the eye of a Dwarven King. Amazing as always Kris.
Thanks :)
Thank you Kris! Another clever design 🎉
No probs.
Quality work my friend ✌️
Thanks :)
Another cracking tutorial! Looking forwards to the dwarven stairway.
Thanks :) Glad you liked it!
Superb Kris! Possibly your best yet (well...maybe the flames were the best...) 😂 I'll be making some of these soon. 👍👍
Thanks (hope the build goes well - though be aware that they do take a bit of time - as there's a lot of cutting out).
Thanks for the video! Large decorative pillars FTW!
Absolutely awesome!
Great video, as always, Kris.
Turned out very nice as expected. And stairs to match will be pretty cool.
I think so too... now I just need to figure out the details :)
@@CrookedStaffTerrain stairs open on both sides, open on one side or walled on both sides?

These pillars look awesome! I can’t wait for more Dwarven terrain!
Thanks :) Glad you like 'em (and yeah... more are on the way :) ).
Good work as always! Kinda got the "Hall of the mountain king" music in my head while watching : O) The ruined pillars looked even better!
Thanks. Each one does take a while to make - but sometimes I like to go the extra mile with a build :)
Look how far you've come! You Miniature Modelling Mage!

I don't get to use half of my stuff as often as I would like either... but it's all in there... ready for whenever I'll need it :)
Superb as always. 😀
i have to say your paper craft is something magical. great video looking forward to the next and have you considered making a book nook
Unfortunately I don't have much space - so every inch of my shelves is taken up with books and stuff :)

(I don't have a Proxxon myself - but I bet they're still a cool tool to have)
Awesome!!
Yeah!
These pillars look fantastic!
:) Thanks :)
Inspiring! Really great work, Kris!
Thanks!
Awesome ! As always...
Been looking forward to this one for a while!
Hope it was worth the wait :) :) :)
these are so much better than just pretty good.
you can also glue a couple of washers inside the base of the pillars to give them weight and wont tip over so easily.

Brilliant as usual!
Cheers!
And here we can see again a master doing his craft! Thank you for that. Always love your videos!
No probs!
Thanks
kris this time crafted terrain too greedily and too deep, but the result is really good

Awesome, as usual!
dat was super 8!
Be honest; You just sit around all day, thinking shyte up, don't you? 🤣
You make it look too easy, Kris.
Isn't that the DM's life (thinking about game stuff while in the shower and the like :) ).
