Chojiro Sasakibe was one of the last characters I expected to get a Bankai - but he did, and Koko Gonryo Rikyuu is awesome! We finally saw it in the Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime, so I decided to collate all of my thoughts regarding the Bankai into one place. Let's take a look!

What did you think of Chojiro's Bankai and the extended scenes we saw in the anime? Let me know!
I personally was always skeptical of the lightning curtain design, and I felt it was appropriately unimpressive for a very old, never-used bankai. Of course, it could be much stronger, but Driscoll was a meathead par excellence, so we'll likely never know completely.
Have you ever done a video ranking the filler arcs? If not seems like it would be a good topic.

Seeing Chojiro pull the lightning strands onto his rapier made me much more excited than I expected.
I thought that was incredibly cool! And it goes to show just how wrong Driscoll wasn't using it anywhere near correctly. Makes me wish we could've seen how much he grew his Bankai since he used it on Yamamoto
A shame we didn’t see what else he managed to do after 2000 years of using it. Expecialy since that was him using it just after obtaining it.
I can think of two other Bankai I would like to see a little more clarity on what they can do. This really was nice to see and worked really well.

RIP Chojiro. You only had your character arc after your death in a Yamamoto flashback but you will never be forgotten, until the next episode atleast.
Despite his power humbleness will always be one of his greatest traits.He could've easily risen to a top rank yet chose to stay as Yamamoto's servant and friend, the confusion of many Shinigami about this really speaks to how power is seemingly valued more for it's own sake rather than merit, ironically dooming some to hell as we've learned. Sasikibe left his own legacy and he went down fighting. Humble bravely of a true gentleman.
Chojiro is not captain level, he is too old and slow as shown in the anime. Renji's new bankai is stronger, plus he's younger.

@@AmirChemE Its heavily implied that Sasakibe is around Captain level and I love that idea, I always liked his character in the brief moments we got to see him. I'm glad he got such a cool Bankai to match!
@@MelloHubb Which lot of captains? He was over 2000 years old at his time of death, and he was alive and already using Bankai before Ukitake and Shunsui were even born. He was most likely older than any captain other than Yamamoto, including Unohana.

The scene where Yamamoto yelling that chojiros bankia was never so weak gave me goosebumps
Chojiro is un-ironically my new favorite lieutenant. That flashback was so short but still effective enough to establish him as a lieutenant with by far the strongest relationship with their captain and also a very skilled and powerful shinigami in his own right with far more experience than any of his colleagues - after all, the guy had a bankai before people like Renji were literally even born. In another timeline I think he could very well have been a captain that stood on par with Kyoraku and Ukitake and it’s a damn shame we never got to see him do any of that.

The flashback was very effective to me too, he didn't became my favourite, but he is my top 3 for sure. I really hope to see more of him in the Hell Arc.

@@derupyer7253it seems Kubo literally just wrote him in to get clapped first everytime, like when Ichigo manhandles him in the Ryoka arc or now. Dude can't get a break 😂
I thought it was pretty amazing for the anime to pay such honor to a character in such a short span of time. It didn't feel rushed. IMO it was perfect
His zanpakuto being a rapier being nodded to when Yama asks why he isn't his student is really neat imo. The way you would fight with a rapier would demand a different style than with a katana. I really appreciate that added idea in the anime
And you know the rapier, saber is a better weapon than the katana which is superior in only one form of attack - quick, short slash. But when it comes to durability Japanese swords are at disadvantage.
Septem I’m pretty sure this wasn’t the case. It’s more than likely just in your head because ultimately his zanpakto is still a katana. So he’d still train to fight with a katana. It just changes into a rapier in Shikai so he’d train to be able to fight with both type of sword. So he still COULDVE been his student if he truly wanted to but he wasn’t

I kinda see it as in indication that the bankai is incomplete without a shikai. Chojiro's shikai functions as a lighting rod, and as a rapier, a way for more subtle control

Revealing the lightning bolts were in fact lightning strands that can be used light rubber bands was really fascinating and unique. Way cooler than simply bombarding the opponent with lightning blasts.
I am honestly curious now the relationships Chojiro may have had with the rest of the Gotei 13, how privy he might have been to Soul Society's secrets, and if he participated in the original Quincy invasion and was thus part of the original Gotei 13? So many interesting potential stories.
Apparently he pissed off Kenpachi Zaraki somehow by messing up his hair treatment 😅🤣
I think we see Sasakibe in the anime flashback witnessing the battle between Yamamoto vs Juhabach first fight and obviously the first Gotei would respect him more since none of those other Captain could give Yama the scar that Chojiro gave him
chojiro was such an underused character. i really liked learning about him in TYBW but i wish we could have gotten to know him over the course of the series. imagine if we were actually attached to him when he died
I feel like the Captain Amagai arc would have been a really good spot to give him a significant role. Even if it was only a filler arc

Yeah I agree, it actually kinda makes him look better overall. Although he never showed any big feets his bankai is badass and really strong.
My idea for his Shikai was a Reiatsu lighting rod to prepare his Bankai. That would 100% excuse him not using it against Ichigo since an unarmed opponent has no Reiatsu to absorb.
The thing about Sasakibe is that he is far too loyal and humble to a certain extent. As the lieutenant of the captain commander, you'd expect him to be more respected and stronger than some captains. All in all I'd like to see him more in flashbacks especially if they do adapt the thousand year war, his younger self seemed more promising than what he turned out to be

I know, I meant the actual *Thousand Year War* when we get to see prime Yama vs Ywhach, and how he spared him
I think as the years went by and Yamamoto softened up and got stubborn in some ways (ie. not letting Orihime restore his right arm), I think Sasakibe also fell victim to it as well
Sasakibe was never a prominent character in opinion, but with the anime, understanding the relationship between him and Yamamoto, made me really like him. He was humble in a way to not seek status to himself, and he was determined to be a worth "resource" for Yamamoto. He was probably my least favorite Lieutenant, but now he is in my top 3. I had no expectations for him in the Hell Arc, but now I really hope Kubo gives him a chance to shine by himself as character and gives him a proper fight. ☇☇☇
Indeed. As crazy as it sounds, something tells me that Yamamoto saw in Sasikibe himself if he had not followed the path of blood and death while keeping to moderation in his early life and respected that in his own way.
I think the cage aspect is integral to the character. He cages himself to his honor and his word to Yama, only ever "opening" or "leaving" the cage when directed by Yama himself to do so. I think that is why in the anime when he activates it he pulls the sword across the bars and pulls them aside, only to charge forward wreathed in their power. He will always remain loyal and true to Yama, even when there is a potential that he could actually KILL him in that moment he shows off his Bankai.
It's always interesting how Chojiro is very into European culture like tea for example which is shown in his rapier shikai but his zanpaktou spirit feels more like something out of an old Japanese fairytale. It feels like there's a major contradiction between Chojiro's likes and what his spirit has manifested into and I always wonder how the two got along. I hope we get to see it in use if Kubo expands upon the hell arc.

@@baldwinivofjerusalem47 it was but we've seen filler Katen Kyotetsu appear in the manga when Kyoraku fights Lille Barro as well as Gonryomaru fight lightning which then got shown to be associated with his bankai. I feel it's safe to assume that despite being filler, ideas and possible characters or designs for zanpaktou spirits and abilities are canon or roughly canon ideas.

Chojiro's Zanpakuto, Gonryomaru, from the information I've read looks like a man from the Meiji era, which in time the japanese empire was adapting western traits, technologies and etc.
I've always thought that lightning was a more refined version of fire, I thought it was cool that he was Yamamoto's vice-captain. while not nearly as powerful it is more beautiful and since it's got less destructive power than fire it only strikes when needed. I have no doubt in my mind if Yamamoto and Sasakibe fought together, the Quincy would have been dealt a serious blow.
I can only imagine how powerful Chojiro’s bankai is. It was already strong back when he was young…and then he trained with it for over 2000 years. There’s no way that man wasn’t a powerhouse compared to the Driscoll’s attempt at using it. And Yamamoto said as much in episode 5. Plus it’s honestly one of the cooler looking bankai in the series.
On another subject, I think a great way to show ichigo's new bankai is to show it in a alternate future yhwach sees. I love how the anime showed sasakibe actually using the bankai. Would be really interesting to see what ichigo's bankai could do.
I might be one of the few people back in the day to try an argue Chojiro was actually a quite powerful character himself, back in the Soul Society arc while yes he did lose to Ichigo it's not exactly a bad thing considering we know at that point Ichigo was high Captain level and Chojiro was using his Shikai and despite being a Lieutenant, you could argue he's another one that is "Captain class" being in the same tier of power as someone like Renji and I found it a bit sad that the Lieutenant of Squad 1 was taken out both times he actually had a moment to show what he could do, but he honestly had it worse in my opinion when it came to the Lieutenants because as him being the second in command of Squad 1, you'd expect him to be extremely powerful when he works so closely to the strongest and one of the oldest Shinigami but he's never gotten time to shine while every other Lieutenant at least has one real fight they contributed in, he doesn't have anything and I'm hoping we'll at least get some form of redemption for his character where we could at least see him fight against Driscoll animated, but that's unfortunately something that's probably never going to happen.
Chojiro’s last words have to be some of the most tragically misunderstood words ever.
He was saying “steal” not “seal”, but I imagine it was hard for Yama to understand him when he’s choking on his own blood.

@@CaptainKotetsu well hes done nothing in the entire show. he is useless. he only existed to die and give yamamoto a reason to actually get off his old ass and fight the enemies instead of everyone else. he sat on his ass most of the fight with aizen. he did literally nothing when ichigo's gang first arrived as well. also still trying to figure out how ichigo saved SS when aizen betrayed them. he didnt save anyone but rukia.
@@gejamugamlatsoomanam7716 Kubo is the one to blame in that regard for not giving such an interesting looking character with a cool bankai more character writing and moments to shine, rather he just introduces a bunch of useless villains each arc that take up the time which would've proved fruitful to characters that we already knew and who deserved more development; Ukitake, soul king, Chad, the leutanants and some others. I love Bleach but that has been the only problem I have with the series, we got cool characters but no depth, its all style and no substance.

Hacchi gets points for at least outsmarting Barragan but that's it. They're all style, no substance. Literal manga filler characters. There's a whole chapter of just them going Shikai/hollowfication against the absolute lowest form of hallow in what's meant to be a sizzle reel of action and I just wasn't impressed, they're lames
I've always just been in love with Chojiro's design of being a eloquent and gentlemanly vibe. He's the classiest shinigami, it did just make me incredibly sad that he was just canon fodder. He appeared less than Isane.
So incredible he died right away at the start of the final ark.

I love the way Chojiro collects the bolts of lightning, like pulling aside a curtain, hinting at where Chojiro existed and did most of his work.

I thought it was cool and fitting how Chojiro’s Zanpakuto was lightning theme, and it makes it fitting that his Bankai allows him to summon a thunderstorm on many levels. While ice/water is fire’s opposite, it always seems like lightning is the letter’s foil (which makes sense as they’re both forms of plasma), which suits Chojiro’s goal to be Yamamoto’s foil. It also seems like the kind of power that would suit a member of the First Division, the leading example for other squares, not to mention this essentially means both captain and vice-captain were the strongest duo of the Gotei 13.
Regarding its use, I think Chojiro’s Bankai might be at its strongest when its concentrated. He inflicted the scar on Yamamoto’s forehead by seemingly going for a single strike, all his power concentrated into the blade, which is fittingly a rapier. Blasting it all over the place is probably still powerful but less effective.
Its sad that people didn't expect him to have a bankai ...like...come on he is literally the lieutenant of the head captain of gotei 13.... Yes he got easily beaten by ichigo in soul society arc, but that definitely was a mistake either from the writer or sasakibe assuming ichigo is weak and easy to defeat.
So i know the zanpakto rebellion is filler to most people but it has been referenced more then once in the new tybw anime and Technically the anime will be more canon then the manga now. So is the zanpakto rebellion arc not filler anymore. IE byakuya's flash back about his bankai's ultimate attack flashed back to his koga fight
I think the scene in the manga of Chojiro's silhouette with with the purple Bankai represents more that Yamamoto is reminded of his friend, it's his Bankai after he has passed, but the coloration remains because in reality Driscoll is using it.
The anime removes this ambiguity but tries to retain the sadness by having the Bankai keep its yellow color during Chojiro's silhouette but returning to purple after Yamamoto reminisces.

It's a shame we didn't see Chojiro vs Driscoll. He could have had a moment to shine before his demise
It feels to med like the basic form of Chojiro's bankai was the first real new thing we learn in the anime - far more so than revealing Meninas as Rukia's opponent. He seems to draw back several bolts of lightning like stings of a bow and then fire himself at his opponent like an arrow carrying the electrical charge.
That whole flashback is now one of my favorite scenes across the whole anime. It also made Yamamoto more relatable as well.
I truly love Bleach from the bottom of my heart, but there's a lot of things I don't like about the way Kubo treated some characters during the story. Definitely what frustrated me the most was the way he DID NOT develop and delve into Chojiro Sasakibe character. When he first appeared I thought "wow, this character's design is amazing, I can't wait to find out who he is, what his shikai/bankai is, and if he will be important to the story".
But his total lack of development really left me thinking "yeah... I don't think Kubo cares about this character at all" wich is absolutely sad imo!
I believe that if he had been better developed throughout the story, his death in TYBW would have been MUCH more impactful and would have brought a lot more weight to the final arc of Bleach, not only from Yamamoto's point of view but also from the other captains as well.
And I'd also like to point out that the moment Yamamoto killed that damn quincy, I cried. I really cried because that scene was extremely emotional in every possible way.
When and if we get to the hell arc, we will probably see the full power of his Bankai… it’s going to be a sight to see.
This is exactly what I have been looking forward to with the new season! New stuff that expands on ignored and forgotten characters or scenes that werent able to make it into the manga

not really an issue when practically any of the captains who rely on bankai spam are all pretty weak and rely more on battle tactics. It’s more so like guy from naruto normally he is just a solid okay fighter but 8gates(bankai for bleach) allows them to be at pinnacle power.
Also he spent those 2000 years making his bankai perfect and for the most part history wise the gotei 13 barely had anyone who would be an actual opponent for the captains and if they were strong enough to have the sweat a little with shikai they just use bankai to win the fight.
I caught up on the anime of blood war and really loved it. It feels to me that we got sole stuff Kubo didn’t have time to do in the manga because of I remember at the time it was hurried to the end because had such a drop

i always thought chojiro looked cool back then, + he has a damn rapier!!! I'm sad that he's gone, but I'm glad we got more details about him after he got deleted 🙏
Given how Chojiro uses the bankai himself I feel like his bankai is the ultimate defense buster. I would assume the way he gathers lightning into the rapier allows him to pierce damn near anything in his path.
Probably why the release command is pierce 👀
The manga states his scar becoming a X shape after Chojiro used his bankai on him too not just the anime

we didnt get to know him deeper because of how things got rushed towards the near endo f bleach. It's actually frustrating that the 2nd in command of Yamamoto got killed too soon. He was the sparring partner of Yamaji for many many years. He should be above your average Vice Capt. Hopefully in the Hell Arc we get to know him even more.

My question is if Chojiro was so strong enough to be a captain in his own right, how did he get one tapped by ichigo in the Soul Society arc, I feel like he could’ve just not been included and it wouldn’t have taken away from it. It just doesn’t make sense because Ichigo only punched him.

I feel like he was playable in the bleach DS game with those two twins. That's one of my favorite bleach game I have played I still want to play the muso game&should try that mobile one.
Chojiro could have been explored more by Kubo. He was always a background of a background character with like no interactions. Even though cool, the very short intro into his past/powers didn't add any "weight" for his death kickstarting the war. Just saying, Matsumoto/Hinamori deaths instead which were more fleshed out in the series, would gave the arc a really "shit about to go down" vibe

I seem to remember a throwaway line during the Soul society ark mentioning that Sasakibe despite being a luitenant was pretty much at captain level. It's just that his captain was so much ABOVE captain level.
I always kind of assumed that appraisal came with a bankai.
when choujiro did the combination of pillars on the sword to attack Yama. it reminds me of Byakuya Shukei Hakutaken
I never understood how Chojiro was supposed to be so strong yet he got one shot by Ichigo.
Seeing this Bankai in action was an absolute treat.
Pretty sure Sasakibe was in the same position as all the other captains here. He would’ve won against his opponent if they didn’t steal his 5-10x multiplier. It’s a bit of a shame that he was used as fodder in the SS arc because Kubo was focused too much on here and now Action and not patient with his build up like Kishimoto or Oda where with their characters. If they never showed choujuro be one shotted but instead stopped by Byakuya it would’ve added some character to both of them in the eulogy scene. Also Kubo could’ve shown off some characters during fake Karakura town arc that haven’t fought before like Choujuro and give him the “Yumichika moment” of only showing his bankai once he wasn’t seen by anybody and instantly oneshot a fraccion, to cement his “ancient” status like Yamamoto, Ukitake and Unohana. He had the potential to be a fan favourite with his design and power in the way he was seen last.
Driscoll knowing how powerful the bankai feels yet his implementation of its power only serving to char Yamamoto's clothes is such a great contrast to Chojiro's strength and wit being able to leave a permanent scar on Yamamoto after having just achieved his bankai. I wonder how much more formidable Driscoll could have been if he had just had the creativity to launch his spears using those lightning tethers
Please do a ranking of all filler arcs in Bleach 🙏 i consider the Muramasa arc to be cannon but finding out its not really upset me . Seeing the Zanpaktou in their human-esc forms really put a nice bit of colour of how each soul reaper's soul is represented and manifested in the arc .
from my understanding almost all the filler arcs while not cannon are heavily helped by kubo. hell almost all the arcs aside from if handled with care could have fit in the story hell the bount arc probably the worst filler arc could have been added to fullbring arc with some adjustments would have let us see more of ichigos full bring
I love how it was stated that he was highley respected in the soul society but gets no respect in real life . Kubo made this character soo lowkey
Chojiro's stolen bankai being purple... if you look closely, Senbonzakura is also purple when As Nodt uses it. I wasn't sure at first, but seeing the purple lightning confirmed to me that it was an intentional choice. Seeing Senbonzakura in purple felt wrong. Unsettling. Perverse, almost. And for the second stolen bankai we're shown to be the same way tells me the anime team did that on purpose.
Yes and yorinmaru is purple to on Cang Du.
I was waiting for him to do something. I liked the design and to be the second to the captain-commander should have meant he was pretty powerful as well.
This bankai reveal was shocking.
I would describe the color denoting the stage at which he has mastered the bankai. The shikai is purple because it is the first time he manifest his bankai once refined/mastered it is golden

Base attacks in Shikai state are the Shikai colors, purple was the color used in the Filler arc.
Ngl even before being revealed I sort of guessed that Chojiro had a bankai since being the Lieutenant of the Head Captain is quite a feat to accomplish I mean you're the Right hand man of one of the Strongest Soul Reapers

I loved that arc, I believe filler or no, Kubo had said at some point that evening his fillers are canon. I admit I can't recall where/when it was said. But it is one of those things that I took to point and believed in since it fills in a lot of holes!
I don’t think so. In terms of the timeline it doesn’t make sense for these fillers to happen. One of them is during the Hueco Mundo arc
After we learned about Chojiro's Bankai, I always wondered how Ichigo defeated him so easily in the Soul Society arc. Maybe Kubo honestly just didn't have a Bankai in mind for Chojiro yet, with a series as long as Bleach it's entirely plausible IMO.
Rereading the Chapter, Ichigo was just too fast. Ichigo grabbed Chojiro's hand before he could swing his sword or use Shikai/Bankai.
Then Ichigo knocked him out with a punch lol
Saskibe deserves a lot more love, but wish we had more time with the character great flashback! Unrelated to him, however Ukitake deserves a battle and I hope they give us his battle with Nianzol.
I recall that knowing the name of your Bankai and knowing the name of the techniques adds more power to the ability than just doing it. I don't recall the qunices ever saying the name of the bankai or the abilities they are using. I forgot which chapter it was but it was said knowing and saying the name increases its power more. That could honestly be the reason in my opinion, why the bankai could be weaker than being with the original owner.

I wonder how strong this Bankai was in actuality had Saskibe used it in the current day without it being stolen. Think about it, Sasakibe was able to permanently injure young (and allegedly more powerful according to the Quincy King) Yama with only a month of training. According to Yama in the anime at least, he says that Sasakibe had been honing his Bankai for 2000 years and had never stopped, so it would be entirely possible that he could have had insane power output similar to that of Kyoraku or a fully matured Hitsugaya if he hadn’t been unlucky and faced the Sternritters first.
Stronger or not doesn't really matter, it's spirit energy (potential) vs spirit pressure (physically exerted amount and controllable). And it seems likely to me he'd be exerting quite a bit more when pissed and watching the murdered of his friend and Lt and SS invader was using his dead friends ability vs when a young kid who had annoyed him for an internship said he got bankai, only showing a lack of concern in response "alright kill me with it then."
It's beyond overrated by youtubers that do not read the manga stop with your clickbait he did not train with his bankai after learning it and you clearly did not see ichigo one hitting him in his first appearance as well so even his shiki form was trash as well.

Chojiro's bankai is cool.
As for the character himself, I wouldn't have that much of a problem with him doing nothing. My problem is that he was one shotted by Ichigo despite him being so powerful.
So either he could've been removed from that scene and get perhaps even his power teased throughout the series or he should've stayed a lieutenant level guy with a bankai as a call to Aizen's talk about shinigami's limits. Meaning Chojiro would've achieved bankai a long time ago but his limit was lieutenant level.
PS: In the anime omake, he liked the style of 19th century Britain which led him to loving e.g. British tea.
My solution for the one shot was his Shikai being a lightning rod for Reiatsu. Ichigo fighting unarmed means it was useless. He just finished fighting a very prodigious Swordsman and a Yoruichi trained Flash Step user so anything less than Bankai would regrettably justify what happened.

He fought a little with Kyoraku against Yamamoto in the Soul Society arc, he fought with Kyoraku against Starrk but one one-shoted by Wonderweiss and in the TYBW, he sacrificed himself in order to save the worlds which only postponed the process of their destruction by 10 minutes or so giving his sacrifice no meaning.
@@Kubinda12345 Which again emphasizes the mere title of Captain. Fights aside Ukitake at least had some key social moments with Rukia, Toshiro, Shuhei, Byakuya, and Yoruichi. He actually accomplished something huge which was helping to destroy the Sokyoku

This was always one thing that bothered me and didn't really make sense to me during this part. How does Ichigo defeat Chojiro with his bare hands in the soul society arc? Chojiro is literally 2000+ years old with a mastered Bankai. At the time of the SSA when the iconic scene happens we all as readers or viewers just think he's another lieutenant level Shinigami and it works out and makes for an awesome scene. But now we have this Knowledge that he Isn't and shouldn't be your normal Lieutenant. Its been stated That Chojiro was asked to be a captain multiple times and refused. That alone means he MUST be at least Captain level. So if has me wondering how the hell Ichigo could beat him with 1 strike barehanded? I'm not one to "power scale" things and I still love the show. This is just always one point in the show where I look back on and go "wait a minute" Idk if I'm the only one who thinks this.

The fact that they (Ryoka) were underestimated by Gotei 13 at the time in that arc because they're simply outsiders and humans.

So what if Sasakibe's a captain-level? Ichigo was already a captain-level after he fought Zaraki. Renji was also captain-level the moment he achieved Bankai. Being a captain-level doesn't mean they're all equal in powers. So what's exactly your point here?

Perriot took a lot of liberties with colour design in TYBW. Like changing the iconic colours of the Black and regular Getsuga.
I'm glad Chojiro got a final send off but in terms of writing perspective, it just felt like an afterthought and that's what I have an issue with. It just felt like they were trying to get rid of characters because deaths naturally have to happen during war but all the other beloved characters like Shunsui, Yoruichi, Kisuke, Byakuya, Toshiro etc couldnt just go and die. Chojiro was a safe and smart choice but felt a little forced to me because I'm pretty certain this wasn't planned from the beginning. The scenes were great though, wish we would have been able to see him throughout the course of the anime more instead of at the end.

I doubt it. Based on everything given, I think he was only a 4th or 5th grade Vice-Captain. However, I do think his Bankai, after being honed for 2,000 years, was on parr with the Captain's.
It is possible at one point he may have been. But being out of any major conflicts and Not using his Bankai in battle could have weakened him significantly.

Chojiro basically had the most useless job in all of Soul Society. Protect Head Captain Yamamoto. The one time there was a challenge to Yama, he dies.

So we could assume to efficiently use that Bankai a sword or metal object is required because all that Quincy did was throw a thunderbolt at Yamamoto and didn't even scratch him.
not just lightning but gonryomaru in the zanpakuto rebellion even makes clouds come out of the box on his back just like koko gonryo rikyuu creates clouds when activated
For lightning in filler yin or yang (forget which) from diamond dust rebellion use lightning.
Soul society was just all over the place in terms of powerlevels. the big one is shikai ichigo beating kenpachi. which TYBW had to come up with an excuse for. Now we have ichigo effortlessly beating sasakibe who is a captain level fighter. ignoring soul society it doesn't excuse the fact that he was completely underutilised but theres nothing that contradicts his power since he doesn't even do anything so it would be plausible. For the supposed best arc in the series soul society has a lot of issues.
