- De Limburgse (y) opera-zanger en ex-bakker Martin zong in de halve finale van Holland's Got Talent (RTL4) het nummer "Con Te Partiro" van Andrea Bocelli. Met dit prachtige optreden won hij ook deze finale en kreeg een rechtstreeks ticket naar de finale!

One of the most amazing tenor voices I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. In my humble opinion, he has a better voice than Andrea Bocelli.

+Ihdc1. By all accounts, he is indeed an untrained amateur. I have searched the internet for more information, but everything comes back to him having been a baker, who lost his job and was unemployed for several years. When you listen to some of the later performances on the show, you can tell that he is not trained.
One person (Lucian Ilea) posted a tale further down in this section that I have been unable to substantiate and it is rather ludicrous. He or she claims that Mr. Hurkens is one of the world's top 12 tenors, but that he exclusively performs at the NY Opera. If he were indeed a world famous tenor, he would have performed outside of NY. More importantly, his name would come up when you try to google it.
This audition was nearly 6 years ago. Today, Mr. Hurkens is traveling and performing around the world sometimes on the invitation of world famous orchestras and singers.
+Jens Randolff I wonder what Pavarotti would have sounded like singing Con Te Partiro. Probably unbelievably good. And Martin's high notes in this song are strained.
Jens Randolff lololololol I have to beg to differ! Hurken's voice is amazing, but almost doesn't compare to Bocelli's. I've never heard Bocelli miss a note
I have some friends in Holland and I've been looking for this man's name. Finally today, I have it. I want to have this man sing at my funeral or just right take me as his wife. Never have I been moved this much. Love him.
His name is Martin Hurkens and he has some videos that are great. He was a baker, now retired. What a voice. Enjoy Pati Apostolakos

What a shame he had to drop out of music school at University. I think we would be looking at a man with a career that would have come very close to Pavarotti. Still I enjoy hearing him sing very much. Such emotion and strength of voice.

Martin is nothing like Paul Potts nor is he like Bocelli. Martin has a rich voice and more dramatic, and his vocal line is more joined. I like his ballads also.
Martin sings with his hands, and catches eye contact over much of the audience. I would rather be entertained by him than any other performer.

Martin Huckers is a very professional singer,he is one of the top 12 tenors in the world,he is considered second or third after Pavarotti,,,but he is singing only in NEw York at the Opera so no one in his native country,Holland,heard about him:))) iincluding the politicuans there
So he has singing in the streets of Amsterdam and at Holand got talent:))) to make people notice him..yeah the culture level there is like in the west,not so high:)))

+Lucian Ilea. I have searched the web for "Martin Hurkens", as well as for "Martin Huckers", as you spelled it. There is no famous tenor by that name. All searches, even your misspelling, comes back to this guy. His biographical data confirms his claims, with regard to age, occupation, etc.
Not sure what the point of your comment is, as it is pure fantasy. That being said, I do believe that Mr. Hurkens could have been one of the world's best tenors ever, had he been discovered a few decades earlier. He is truly gifted.
