Had never heard of Leith until my wife got us a AirBnB there several years ago. And we walked its streets and parks and visited the markets and shops. And we ate in its restaurants and sat in its pubs. And we walked along its waterways and I tried to image what it was like in its ship building days with the teems of people and the tenements there. And it was a pretty quick bus ride into Edinburgh. It reminded me a lot of the Lower East Side of NYC. I love Leith and I hope to return someday. Thanks for the video!

This amazed me and also gave me a heart ache, to see how my people and ancestors struggled so much, went through hardships, so I and my fellow peoples can be here now. We it everything to them ♥️ and I firmly believe it's our duty to remember them and respect their legacy

😢 family all leithers iwas born ferrier street leith more like London now no leathers left all churches are now mosques mostly docks are gone all posh flats n bistro pubs for tourists while Eastern Europeans or Middle Eastern peeps live there kirkgate just a state charity shops lidls or chemists for junkies the place a shithole I left ain't my town no more ganghut but thanks for the old memories was better back then 😮😢😢😢❤

We may not know their names, but as long as we remember and pay respect to our ancestors memories, legacy, heritage and their struggles, as we should, they're not forgotten. At 4.21 minutes into this, does anyone know the name of the wee shop where it says "Houghton's" coffee? on the left in the corner beside the bridge? I used to go there with my granny for the messages even although they lived up Restalrig Road. She had lived in Lapicide (off South Fort Street and Ferry Road - long gone) before 1934. Frank Ferri would have known.

Born in Leith, i still live here. It's a very different place now and not all in a good way. I preferred the old Leith.

I lived at 44 Kirk Street when I was a kid, went to Bonnington Road Primary School the Leith Academy Secondary.
