Gab had her first encounter with piglins but still has yet to see the new nether. Not gonna lie I was hoping the nether spawn would have been in a new biome.

Being an avid Minecraft player; The caves sounds are meant to be scary and also to let you know that there is possibly a cave nearby or just pure darkness...
I feel you regarding roofs in Minecraft. It's really hard to get them "right" and I feel like I spend 75% of my time building and re-building just the roof.
It might be best to just regrow that mushy! Silk touch might be a long way off. Bonemeal is much easier to obtain than silk at this stage. Break that mushroom down and use the little mushrooms you get as seeds. Like other crops, just plant the mushroom and hit it a few times with bonemeal until it shoots up! Instead of needing to till the soil to plant, you'll need to make sure the mushroom has a dim environment to be placed in. Otherwise it won't stick. So make a little dirt hut to shade the area! The mushroom needs one empty block surrounding it on all sides to be placed. So build a hut that gives it the required space. After you plant the mushroom in the shaded area you can break down the mud hut and then bonemeal your shroom. You can also make a stopper to control the height by having a block floating above the shroom at your desired height. (In fact, you could even build the enchanting area now and then grow the shroom right into place beneath it!) Just a suggestion, I hope it might be helpful!
You can make a big mushroom by placing a small mushroom and bonemealing it. Also, silk touch cannot pick up certain blocks like mushroom parts, you can't repair a mushroom you can only cut it down and then regrow it. If you do that you can also place the mushroom so that your bridge is perfectly in the centre.

Gab! If you want to make a mushroom block, all you have to do is get 9 mushrooms and put one in each square in a crafting table/work bench! Or you can get an enchanted tool with silk touch and mine mushrooms. You can rebuild your mushroom room!
