glorytheman depends on the battlefield.. The misconspections here are hilarious. On the one hand everyone belives ww1 was only trench warfare and then there were no automatic guns. Then reality is that automatic guns turned the battlefields to static trench warfare because it forced people to stay in cover. So in France Machine Guns were used extensively and were very common. Other battlefields had less of these guns and were much more mobile therefore. Submachine guns and mobile machine guns did occur only at the end of the war in high numbers, but they were not experimental anymore at that point. So your wrong.

Every year it's the same thing, same hype. It's always the year COD goes down and every single year EA drops the ball. Sorry single player, porous online connections. The popularity of Modern Warfare remastered I promise you would beat BF1 sales alone. Even at 90 it will move more units. BF is the franchise that you either wait to play until they patch the bugs or you simply forget about like Hardline which wasn't bad but it wasn't memorable either. I'll believe in BF1 when I see it, but history tells me, nope it will fail.
I could easily see Activision making another slick move like gain access to World at War redux and that would push it all over the top
Everyone was questioning a ww1 theme, saying it would be boring/lack content. Now that DICE use slightly historically inaccurate weapons and vehicle mechanics to make the game more fun and add content, the Internet gets upset and demands a ww1 simulator.

Because this isn't WW1, it's just a BF4 reskin...and neither BF4 nor this in any way accurately depict combat. DICE have done nothing to prove the viability of war games as they've never produced one.

18 were made. Most of the weapons used were bolt action.
LumeXxTv The majority of weapons used in WWI by infantrymen were bolt action rifles. Most other types of weaponry, that were semi-auto and fully-auto were not used till very late in the war, and never on the scale of bolt-action rifles. That is, not counting in machine guns. But even so, the usage of bolt-action rifles was higher than machine guns. Where, so far in the gameplay videos that I've seen of Battlefield 1, almost everyone uses everything but bolt-action rifles (not talking about the few "sniper" guys that roam around).
To all the people complaining, you could always just pick up a copy of infinite warfare instead.

I'm actually against the parkour, i think it will eliminate choke points and tactical routes people can take because you could effectively just run in a straight line from A-B for any objective.

It is a pretty sweet looking game. Don't really care about the WW1 facts. The game is just fun. I got lucky enough to play in the Closed Alpha!!
The beta version is way too much fun! I like how it went way retro. It would be nice if it were historically accurate but regardless, the game play is ridiculously awesome!

In WW1 soldiers weren't equipped with SMGs. In fact, nearly all of the soldiers had a bolt action rifle.

The Germans had the MP-18 smg. Other than that yeah most all soldiers had bolt-action rifles. But then again, this is Battlefield lol it's not gonna be completely realistic. Like in BF3-4, you get to use weapons that most troops in combat would never get to use.

You should also know this is an alternate timeline, so this criticism doesn't work anyway. Gameplay > historical accuracy.

Both of which existed and were in really interesting places in terms of design and innovation during WWI? I don't get the point of your comment. Those ARE WWI weapons (for the most part)
Cause for the most part solders in ww1 didn't use fully automatic machine guns. Lots of people in this video shows people using machine guns. Thats why I find it gunny. Im sure the game is good but the fear that ww1 wouldnt be fun cause of the weapons almost proved true. But thank goodness it was just almost.
Well, i think so too. The vast majority of the soldiers had bolt action rifles without scopes and no sidearms. Smg's like the mp 18 shown in the video were only used by few soldiers and saw just short combat in the last months of the war.
-Machineguns were not hipfired, most were simply too heavy.
-Tank vs.tank combat never happend in WWI, because Germany produced almost no tanks( 20 or so)
-The airships were used as reconnaisance and for bombing missions and not for strafing.
Anyway that doesnt mean that Bf1 is a bad game. It just focuses more on the gamplay and sacrifices some historic accuracy for that. Other games are more authentic like Verdun or Red Orchestra but don't have the gameflow of Bf.

I feel like people wouldn't like being restricted to just semi autos and bolt actions. Yes, it helps with historic accuracy, but it doesn't make the game very fun, at least imo. If they were an all class thing, though, this would be a different story.
We gotta tell yaz. At first we we're a little worried about this game. We still love playing Bad Co. 2 / Vietnam and Battlefield 1943 both on the PS3. BUT after an hour they get a little blah because of the minor weapon/vehicle perks we have to choose from.
Will BF1 keep us mentally stimulated being it's a World War 1 game. It kinda looks like it in this video.

It looks really freakin sick. The gun models, animations and art in general looks amazing. I can't wait to get into the game and play it. The greatest thing about a Battlefield game is sprinting/driving/flying to a capture point that you just know the enemy is headed for too, or already waiting at. The excitement and suspense is terrific
Now I'm being kinda picky, but one thing that really bothers me is when people or animations in games, when shooting the mauser model 98, take the clip out of the gun before closing the bolt. You do not have to take out the stripper clip before closing the bolt, I don't know about any other bolt action designs, but I know that with the Mauser action it is not necessary. If you are in combat I do not believe that you would take the time to take the clip out when all you would have to do is close the bolt.
basically any mauser design that is fed with stripper clips can be closed while the clip is in the gun 98k, arisaka etc...

you're too light and skippy and invincible. it's another BF game since BF3 where you can practically glide all around the map and perform impossible feats in less than a second, you can literally dive into a room, headshot 3 enemies and dive out before anyone gets a shot off. BF:BC2 was the last one to get the weight right, ever since then you just feel too powerful all the time
well you don't wanna cruise at 5km and take like half the game to get to the first point only to be blown by c4 and find out the enemy team is already occupying it.

I want realistic vehicle deformation for aircraft, so if I crash instead of a cartwheel and a boom it could crunch through the front or the wing could break off meaning it's a one winged tube sliding along the ground.

As I suspected, completely unfaithful to anything WWI.
1. Tanks move way too fast. Not only that, they weren't utilized in urban warfare during WWI.
2. Offensive action in WWI was comprised of charges and company-sized maneuvers at a minimum, not individuals or squads running around in small groups.
3. Automatic weapons are far too prevalent. Even by the end of the war they were scarce and notoriously unreliable. The only common automatics were stationary and operated by fire team sized elements (Maxims, Vickers, Brownings, etc.)
It's Battlefield. If you want something realistic, try Verdun and stop complaining on TH-cam.

It's all true what you are saying but for a game it's going to get very boring very quickly if all you do is run towards your enemy straight in front of you and shoot away with the same bolt action rifle and then run back to your own trench.
It is it's just that it's set somewhere in 1917 or 1918. In the beginning 1914. these technologies was slowly used more advanced every year. This is set late in the war the technology was be a slight more better with moving tanks. It's called 20th technology and 19th century tactics.

Nope, Kar98 was WWII, as the Kar98 was the carbine (shorter) version of the Gewehr 98. Either way, though, I think that you need to be a designated shock trooper class to use an SMG, which is a bit more historically accurate since German Stormtroopers were the only ones to get them (although there were indeed not as many working SMGs at the time)

There are maps with trenches but please read up on WW1, because it's not all just trenches and mud. Not being rude just informing you, because the game they've made is pretty historically accurate in most places.

Wow I can't wait for this game. This is the only map I've seen so far being played. Looks dark and gritty just like how'd you imagine World War. Everything from the sounds, to the visuals of these historic weapons, and locations is awesome.

Wouldn't it blow up with like 1 shot from a tank? It's full of hydrogen and the outside is like just fabric.
The most powerful tank mounted weapon at the time had a maximum effective horizontal distance of more or less 2000 meters. The zeppelins meanwhile could fly at 10,000 feet, that's about two miles.
Also, a bullet hole in a zeppelin isn't much of a problem anyway. These zeppelins were huge, the escaping hydrogen is marginal and the pilots could safely complete their missions and return without worrying about it. And when it does deflate slowly it wouldn't behave like a party balloon, its a rigid structure with several gas bags inside. Hitting the zeppelin doesn't mean you hit a gas bag.
A bullet also wouldn't be anywhere near being able to ignite the hydrogen. A bullet can't even ignite a tank of gas, which is significantly easier (there's a myth busters episode on this as well). That is until incendiary rounds started being used, which wasn't until later in the war.
So the planes having no significant effect on the zeppelin also makes sense.

Zeppelins didn't have just 1 layer of fabric btw. It was multiple layers

I wish you could play as a commander but also be playing the game. One teammate controls the entire team. Also having the ability to request covering fire, request assistance, things like that. That's really what I wanna see.

From what I have seen the gas weapons have little impact on the gameplay. They should increase the radius of the gas and also make it so the wind carries it in certain directions for about 30 seconds or so.. you can look at flags or smoke on the battlefield to determine which way the gas will go before you use it. I havn't even seen anyone have to put on a gas mask

You can adjust the HUD in the options menu. As well as this, hardcore mode has no HUD by default
