@TaylorEqualsRandom Plus it feels great, like a video camera, and the built in handle is perfect for filming lines. Plus here's a little secret it isn't 1080i it is 30p in a 1080i wrapper. Cuts back to true 30p with very little loss, and from there 24p is easy. But I mainly got this just to play with. I dont mind falling a breaking a 400 dollar camera vs a $2500 Canon 5D

Honestly, I have shot with almost every camera out there, Panasonic, Canon, Nikon, I have owned more Sony VX 2K than I can count and for video I have not seen anything capture the colors this little camera does. It takes disgusting still picture. I'ts not a still camera, I have a 5D Mk II for that. But this little camera has really surprisingly great video, and put a old Canon FD 50mm 1.4 on it and you have a movie making machine!
Shutter 320, Quality 24 MBPS, Manual Rokinon Fisheye wide open at f3.5, Focus just a few clicks off infinity, Gain at Zero db. 320 Shutter is ok for Skateboarding and matched the zero gain well at f3.5. But...I probably could have benefited from 500 to 640 on shutter speed but I would have had to bump the gain, and I wanted as low noise as possible...
@disssssregard Yea it will adapt any lens. Look up on ebay "NEX to Canon EF" My Rokinon is for a Canon EF that I use on my 7D so I just bought a Canon to NEX adapter. You can get the Rokinon in any mount even the NEX mount.
Hey man! Videos are sick, im about to get the new VG20. I was wondering if these adapters degrade the quality at all? Im sure they dont but i have to ask. Im about to lose a lot of savings... haha. Thanks fella
@trampolineboarderguy Shutter was 350 I believe and aperture was f5.6 chip was set at zero db of gain. Use the shutter to control exposure in daylight. f5.6 is optimal for the Rokinon and zero gain is a sharper image. Any shutter above 120 is fine for shooting skateboarding with this camera.
@TaylorEqualsRandom The 5D shoots amazing video, I have a 7D also and they are prefect for shooting skateboarding/everything you could want. I have 2 reasons for owning this camera. 1. I have some amazing old canon FD glass from my AE-1 that I wanted to adapt to something. I mean the old L glass expensive shit. and I picked the Sony VG10 body up on ebay for less than 400 in a auction.
very nice! It's so sad though that the vg10 can't shoot 50 fps full frames... I'm starting to get how to use mine, but I didn't think it would be ok to film with a shutter speed under 1/320, just read your comment saying anything over 120 is fine so I guess I'm gonna try that, should be way easier for indoor shots. @trampolineboarderguy In Vegas there are two areas to choose frame-rate/video properties one is your project settings set it to 720p 30 FPS. This is what I mean by "timeline". When you render choose the same as the project settings. Thanks BTW, I like this camera, it has great color, as most Sony's do and the sound is phenomenal.
@trampolineboarderguy No,the 1080i is actually 720p in a 1080i wrapper. Set your timeline for HDV 720p and it will rebuild the progressive frames when you render.
Sick...I know this vid is old but for the nex vg owners out there you can also go with the Canon eos opteka fisheye and fotasy adapter for under $200 and it gives a better focus a little bit further from the sensor....
