@StrategicFooyoo Not really, if gulf oil is closed and Russia decides to stop selling oil to europe at the same (or similar times) about half of all global oil production is effectively neutered. The miss match in supply and demand will result in poorer better armed countries (turkey, India, Italy, Greece) raiding unprotected commerce. Especially if oil hits 150+ a barrel (it becomes cheaper to pirate than purchase). The only countries that are able to secure these shipping lanes either have a large blue water navy with aircraft carriers, or are in a geographic position that will be to its advantage (UK, France, India, Japan for example). Europe, Africa and China will feel the brunt of this, as they are at the end of supply chains and would have to completely overhaul there navies (which can take decades) to avoid de industrialisation. US trade is largely done with NAFTA and CAFTA. Any exceptions include trade that is largely irrelevant to the US economy (less than 2% of gdp, which can be easily replaced). The US has zero incentive to protect shipping lanes and the rest of the world is unable to. Its a big rip for most countries that are successful artificially.
@StrategicFooyoo It comes back to game theory. Sure it would be ideal if all sides get along. However, when people demand more of a recourse than what can be sourced, countries expand into empire (or sanction privateers). Its a race to the bottom, but it cannot be avoided so long as people continue to rely on oil for plastics, fertilizer (some countries could see agricultural output half without oil), Transportation and military.
@StrategicFooyoo Nah russia and gulf states (especially opec) structure there economy in such a way that they can strategically stop selling oil for geopolitical purposes (think 1971) (or in the event of iran closing the straits). Russia in paticular has a fairly diversified economy (relative to other oil producers) and could survive for decades on reserve cash. It is in russias interests to cripple europe, especially if they are 'democratically reclaiming' land in eastern europe. The US has domestic oil production that is sufficient to fuel itself. Even if shale production decreases (unlikely) canada and mexico export more than enough oil for the US. Europe, China and Africa will be the real losers in this scenario. UK, France and japan will probably be able to 'democratically secure' an oil source in Africa (or the middle east). But aside from that its game over for most countries.
@StrategicFooyoo The US is no longer interested in invading countries for oil (even if it is intended for the US market), let alone for other countries. Why would the US keep oil lanes open if they dont benefit from it? Invading iran or russia may benefit europeans or the Chinese, but not America.
Actually, the UK does have Imperial potential since it's plan is to spread its influence worldwide and build up its military post-Brexit. And that plan is going perfectly so far. India is what I like to call a forgetful Constitutional Democracy, in that it is a Democracy, but it often ignores that fact. One of the consequences of this is that India, if she insists on acting like a Hindu and a cast state rather than a pluralist, religiously neutral, capitalist state, will find herself fighting the Chinese without America fully on side. America: no longer suplies Europe with oil
Europe: **Oh boy here I go killing again.**
@StrategicFooyoo Lets hope that if this occurs, electric cars catch on lmao. TSLA to the moon.

Automation, the energy crisis, abolishing the Breton Woods system, rise of neoliberalism, Immigration reform, low fertility rates...
@@TapOnX almost all of the gap is actually due to wild healthcare inflation (which ties into the aging population). Against general inflation, total compensation has mostly kept pace with productivity, but the substantial majority of it has gone into health insurance (which has tripled in price relative to general inflation).
@@SacredCowStockyards If I remember correctly, there's still a gap, even if you account for aberrations like healthcare and college prices that only accounts for about half of it. Then again, all of these analyses will be highly dependent on the method used to account for inflation, I think the chart he uses in the video is one of the most pessimistic estimates.
@@SacredCowStockyards Medicare has ironically driven up the cost of healthcare.

2020 is just the beginning of dark times. I’m afraid my generation will live up to the name of ‘Doomers’ we have given ourselves. The last ones to grow up in a time of peace before being shipped off en masse to fight WW3
If it makes you feel any better, if you live in a developed country you're highly unlikely to be literally shipped off to war en masse. Modern militaries in developed countries are capital-intensive, not labor-intensive, so the odds are against you being conscripted even in a large-scale conflict.
it's only though times of crisis that renewal becomes possible...
@@JackHankeAnd we almost had to conscript people to fight in the various wars that we fought in the middle east. If we end up in a global conflict every man between the age of 18 and 40 is going to get caught up in that shit.
@@lucasward9506 We were never particularly close to conscripting people for the Middle East wars. Also, presumably there would be more volunteers for a war perceived as existential than the unpopular Iraq War and only marginally-more-popular War in Afghanistan.
Hard times breed strong men.
Lets hope new promising desalting technologies will prevent most of these conflict
The saudis have giant desalination plants, and China will probably make them as well along with India. The spark that will ignite the first of these conflicts will likely be the American election.
The issue with desalination isn't the cost, it's the energy requirements.
We know how to solve that problem. Nuclear Energy. The issue is getting there.
to expansive, its easy to import water and water based products, BUT yeah, no one is willing to get dependent from Brazil, Russia or Canada (the water kings).
Is better for everyone, if folks start to work on desalinization.
@Milosh Simonovski in the long run? No, but water is an imediate necessity, if a country runs out of water, things go bad really fast.
SO the imediate solution? Import water and water based products (food and cloths).
Also some countries don't have the option to desalinizate water, because they aren't even close to oceans, what happens then?
@Luís Filipe Andrade you put to much faith in this...
It's quite possible that a world war broke out in this decade, hell, a world war can broke out tomorrow! India and China are trading punches in their boarders, Taiwan is a fucking flashpoint for WW3, and things are getting bad by the hour...

No american superpower, France, Russia and Great Britain are stronger after WW1.
World War 2 would still happen.
@@theetherealwatcher2953 its possible that western traumas with the war would be far diminished, and that either the Russian monarchy would survive or the revolutionary government of 1917 would not fall to the bolsheviks, which would render the Allies unwilling to appease to german territorial demands, which could make the 3rd Reich too isolated and scared of starting a war. Or they would be ganged up by Europe as soon as Anschluss or the annexation of Czechoslovakia happened
Dont forget that Russian also fought Turks and Austrians (which also sucked), if Russia have been more competent, then huge chunk of Austria and Turkey would probably end up occupied by Russia, not to mention that Finland, Baltic states and part of Poland wouldn't reclaim independence.
