    I have a 2023 & it is very safe & sharp looking. The back logo is not a problem & and frankly, I don't see why it was criticized in the video. That is not an issue or undesirable trait of the vehicle. It's safety & overall performance are top notch. I've had several Hyundai's & they get better every year! I love Hyundai & won't buy any other brand.

    A Corvette's rear turn signal light is up higher than the Tucson. A major safety issue being so low down where a pick up truck behind you couldn't see it and forget about an 18 wheeler. I'll wait for the upgrade.

    I think if the car behind is as distanced as they should be then the low tail lights are a none issue.. but people love to get close.. except for the rare few that are either good drivers or have been in an accident before and therefore well back of the car in front. Also, if you're too close and get hit causing you to hit the car in front then you're on the hook as you should be a reasonable distance behind to avoid sliding forward.. just letting it be know to those that don't. I ordered a hybrid ultimate version that should be here this week and cannot wait. If looking at it, test drive and then get one.

      So many people don’t know how to drive regardless. It’s fairly irrelevant where the turn signals are because people are looking at their smartphone anyway. Make zero difference. On top of that, half of the people on the road don’t even use turn signals.

    Recently drove the 2022 Tucson and really loved it. What we didn't love is the dealer charging a 4K upcharge above sticker for the car. It's nice, but not that nice at that elevated price point.

    Wasnt really much of a big deal to begin with but I covered my Rear Window Logo with heavy duty Glossy black adhesive vinyl sheeting. Cost me like $8 at target for a roll of Cricut vinyl. Used an Exacto knife to trim off the edges, blended in perfectly. Slapped my favorite sticker on top of that and Viola, the Big H is gone. Learned that trick recently in a Hyundai Forum, turned out really nice.

    I like the shifter buttons much better than a real shifter. My 2017 Volt has a very nice full size shifter but it blocks easy access to the little storage cubby in front of it. Luckily I don't have to use it very often. With the Tucson, every time I get in and out I'm putting my phone on the wireless charger and that would be much harder to do with a big shift knob blocking the way. I've only had the car 2 days and I'm already used to the buttons so I don't see the issue with them and it does solve the access problem.

    • @kersplat12785
      @kersplat12785 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The shifter buttons were a big selling point for my wife. We have shift buttons on our Fiat 500e. I thought I'd hate them but they're not a problem at all. I'm more worried about the fact that there doesn't seem to be a Low gear. I have to drive down a big hill to get to work and when it snows Low gear is much safer than braking.

    • @StevenShelikoff
      @StevenShelikoff 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@kersplat12785 the Tucson has paddle shifters on the steering wheel making it very easy to downshift to a lower gear. Yet another reason why I don't see the need for a real shifter instead of buttons. It also has a button you can press to activate downhill braking control that will automatically apply the brakes to keep the speed within a certain range whey going downhill. Personally, I don't see the need for this for anyone with a bit of sense about driving and is a bit of automation taken too far. But it's there if you need it.

  • @yodathang

    Okay, new owner to this car (hybrid model):
    Yes, the rear passenger alert may seem silly to people, but as a human who has spent more than a few years sleep deprived while shuffling small humans to care centers and back so I can get to work on time because we live in a society that requires *at minimum* two incomes? It's not a bad idea. While I live on the edge of panic at all times personally and check every space of my car before walking away *and* before driving off (don't get me started on leaving the house, y'all), other humans aren't always in 'Everything Is Danger' mode at all times and need reminders. A design that focuses on the safety of those who are reliant on others is never *too much*.
    The complaint needs to be against capitalism; not against human intelligence.
    ALSO, re: the shifter control console; unless you just randomly push buttons just because they're *THERE* (some people do; and this car isn't for them in this case) this isn't a big deal. I went from driving a manual "stick shifter" to this and the only issue I've had adjusting is not having an 'object' to put my hand on passively. Solution? Water bottle. But honestly, it's really not that big of a deal.

    • @AMindInOverdrive
      @AMindInOverdrive 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Regarding the rear passenger alert, there was a case (in USA if I remember correctly) where a parent had a child in a carseat, forgot the child was even there (never dropped the sleeping kid to daycare), went into work for the day and left the child in the hot car all day long. I think the child died. Tragic story, but point is, it CAN happen. As someone with ADHD who forgets/misses the most obvious things constantly (even very important things) - I totally get the importance of something like this...even though I have no kids.
      My only concern with it is, does it activate EVERY time you are getting out? If so, it's possible it just becomes another reminder to ignore. If it's based on weight sensors (rather than motion, which would not activate if the child is asleep) it could well save a life.

    • @yodathang
      @yodathang 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@AMindInOverdrive It happens multiple times a year, yes. And it's always awful. And anything we can do to prevent it is great and not a thing which deserves some snark about literacy or intelligence, which was my issue with the video.
      I have never noticed the "Check Rear Seats" alert when I'm alone or with a single front seat passenger and exiting the car; it's only when I have a rear passenger that it's chimed at me, so it's noticeable without being forgettable.

    Number 5 is the reason I did not purchase the 2022 model. These turn signal lights are too low and there have been many complaints. There is a rumor Hyundai will relocate them in the 2023 models. There is already a hack online to flash the brake lights when signaling turn.

    • @douglasdever6134
      @douglasdever6134 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well that rumor has been debunked. I have a 2023 and no changes to the location. They meet required safety specs, can be seen from a distance, and when behind a vehicle in traffic. you are supposed to stop with the rear tire/touching ground able to be seen.

    • @wadebryant6845
      @wadebryant6845 ปีที่แล้ว

      The too low turn signal critique almost seems more of an aesthetic opinion than a real safety issue, especially considering that they must meet government safety specifications. Also considering, the turn signal indicators on the sideview mirrors are visible from behind. I can see how the rear signals could be considered too low, but wonder if there is actually any data suggesting this is compromising safety in real-world situations.

    • @36djf
      @36djf ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If someone is following, so close, they can’t see your rear bumper. There are way too close. This whole thing is silly about the low signals. Love my Tucson.

      It's funny, he said and I quote..."its IMPOSSIBLE to use"🤣 That's weird because they've sold thousands worldwide only limited by the chip shortage and people seem to be driving them even though it's IMPOSSIBLE to shift. I wonder how they're driving them🤔

    • @realdeal173

      @@seanmachado7681 The are actually safety mechanisms that prevent what you're pontificating about from happening. Do you think they left themselves open for lawsuits? Add far as knowing what gear you're in, hote many times have you been on a road trip and 100 miles down the highway wondered 'what gear am I in'. Once you're in drive, you're in drive. These aren't manually trannies. If you're still confused, here's two easy solutions. Look at the dash or if your rear view camera is on, it's probably a good indicator that you're in reverse. If after all that you're still confused, you probably shouldn't be driving. Call an Uber.

      @@TheSmallbug even if "electronic safeguards" protect you from issues going from D to R, you still need to look down. With my shift lever, if I need to QUICKLY throw a car into another gear I can do it by feel. Buttons, nope. Ever have to back out quickly to avoid an accident ? It's rare, but it happens.

    One flaw the front wipers can't be lifted or it takes paint off the hood the only way to lift the wipers is after u shut the car off you hold the control stick up before opening the door, no one mentioned this and after it was to late they offer to sell you a paint marker and tell you the car wasn't designed for winter so they didn't consider the need to lift the wipers

    • @wadebryant6845
      @wadebryant6845 ปีที่แล้ว

      I doubt that any dealer is going to "mention" the entire manual to you or that you'd want them to. I don't think this single design element means the car wasn't designed for winter...especially considering you just described that, in fact, you CAN fold the wiper blades up if you read about the wipers in the manual PRIOR to forcing them over the upper lip of the hood....in which case, I'm surprised you didn't damage more that some paint. I live in Alaska, and yes I encountered the same issue with my new 2023 thinking, "this is a problem"...and then read about the wipers in the manual.

    1. What with all those lamps, still the Hazaard Light and Turn Signal Lamps use the same lamps. If the Hazards are On no signal of turn can be made. 2. The Door handles may pinch the fingers, I much prefer the "ice breaker" handles. 3. I would like a larger, Brake Pedal. 4. I feel cheated with the 10.2 inch Touch screen. I would like buttons since the Navagation only uses the upper half. 5. Too many curves on the outer body skin. It must be a horrible job doing 'simple' body work. 6. Loss of the SunGlasses storage box in the overhead. 7. Cannot help it, I like Full Size Spare Tyres, long gone on many vehicles. 8. Cannot open passenger doors with the 'hard' key. 9. Would like a "dash cam" front/rear recording mirror. 10. BEEPs are nice, would like a Voice saying what is the specific problem/danger. 11. I would like the Speed Dial Readout on the RIGHT, But I like the easy to read Digital Speed Display in the Center (as it is). I would add a more easy odometer readout Current total and Trip.

    Only have two thousand miles on my wife's 22 Tucson. It doesn't have the buttons but a regular shift. I would be OK with the buttons, but the shift control is good, very positive. The buttons on the console aren't where they were in the video.
    About the car, we like it. Comfortable, that's coming from a Lincoln MKZ. The heating on the seats is good. The Bose sound is very adequate, not as good as the Infinity system in our Kia, but good enough.
    Android Auto works and is fast enough to be useful, unlike on some other cars.
    Weirdest quirks NOT mentioned... it doesn't auto-lock. You have to dig out the remote to lock the car. Only time you touch it, unless remote starting.
    The darn smart function on the tailgate. Park it in the garage, walk behind the car to leave and the hatch opens. JUST NO. I turned off the function. We like it at the store shopping but who wants it opening just because you cut behind the car to get to another car or a cabinet in the garage?
