Notes from the breakdown:
-First of all, these last 2 Dilla breakdowns where he sampled James Brown were beyond challenging. But the engagement on the last video made it worth it.
-For this breakdown I am 99.9% confident on the chops. They are incredible and the layering is awesome.
-The mixing on this beat is the most noticeable aspect of it tho.
-The blue chop on the far right side is 100% the chop he used, but I think he layered with a bass, or did something to the bass of the chop, for it to be so prevalent. The overall mixing on the low-end of this beat is very note worthy
-Can't way to start focusing on making boom bap later in the year so I can really dive into the mixing and techniques/effects these legends from the 90's used.
Conclusion.
Yeah he a God at chopping samples, but the mixing is just as incredible and just as important!

Those little chops he took of those plucking strings at 0:37 (the red audio regions) is something else man. The way he sequenced them to have a new rhythm/bounce is insane.
Always love when that happens, it is just 3 notes, but he re-arranged it to create a brand new melody!

@@17-.I would just start with the classics, me personally though I always recommend Tribe Called Quest as a good beginner artist for hip hop.

I mean... It is like asking my favorite child... I have nostalgia towards most of Dilla works, but if I have to pick a project I think Fantastic vol. 2 is the choice, without it I don't think I would have given an honest chance to rap music
