- This song deserves more love!!! I can't believe there's only 1 other animatic of this song that I know of( which was done by the amazing Emma Vogeli)
When i decided to make this animatic i knew it had to include the dialogue because of how incomplete it sounds w/o it. Like, don't get me wrong the official soundtrack is amazing and i get why they didn't keep the dialogue it but it does a disservice to the emotional impact of the song ya know?

I lost my dad 3 months ago from multiple illnesses and in a few days it’s going to the his birthday, he would had turned 56 if he just lived a little longer so This kind of made my cry lol, really like the video

One time, when Sophia was doing this on stage, she ran out backstage because she was breaking down. she came back out, and started singing again, everyone cheered for her. :)

When Lydia said that she was scared she was gonna forget her mom, it really hit hard for me. I lost my little sister to sickness before I could even remember her (I was under a year old), and I'm scared that one day I'll forget her. It got me crying. Thank you for the dialogue
i lost my mom at the age of 10, it has been 2 years since then and now im starting to accept it and this animatic really hurt me in the heart, if she would have lived a little bit longer i could have showed her what i have improved, all my new hobbies, everything but now i just talk to her picture, sometimes home doesn't feel home and this song pictures my emotions really well

I lost my mother from cancer when I was 16 back in 2008. So much time has passed since it happened, but some days the pain still feels so fresh. Mothers day is coming up and I'm already dreading it. This made me cry because of how well done it is. I am just starting to discover the Beetlejuice musical. My Dad also treats me badly. I relate to Lydia so much. Last year my Dad sold our family house. I was fine with that, but cleaning it out turned out to be much more of a nightmare than I expected. So much of mom's things. So much painful family tension and my sister lashing out saying horrible things to me and everyone. I don't want to forget her... I guess that's why I'm terrified to grieve... I'm worried I will forget. Again, lovely job on this. I want to see this musical live someday.

Aww, that is very sweet that you included Lydia’s mom.
However, it is musical canon, and you can see it in musical, that that one lady which is eaten by sandworm on stage in "The whole being dead thing” is actually Lyd’s mom.
Sandworms only eat ghosts, right? That means, that only ghost around which could be at the funeral is Lydia’s mother.
It is not a theory, I think someone involved in the musical writing (or something) said that.
So that is why Lydia couldn’t find her mom in the Netherworld. She wasn’t there. She was eaten by the sandworm (:

Tears. Every. Single. Time. This is why I would wanna play Lydia in this awesome musical. Constant emotions that emphasize how human and down to earth she is.
Okay but I heard a theory that the reason Lydia didnt find her mom was because she wasn't in hell. She's in HEAVEN. Now I'd like to add to it that Emily noticed her daughter going into hell so she asked God to let her visit her daughter and hopefully change her mind. But when she finally got there Lydia had already made the decision to go back home and live her life as best as she can. And that's when Emily smiles(in the last frame)

Goddammit. Why does this song make me cry every time? No musical song has ever made me feel this emotional. Not even ones I relate to like Michael in The Bathroom or Waving Through a Window. So Big/So Small made me cry a little when I saw it live, but this brings me to the brink of sobbing. This animatic in particular did such a great job of conveying Lydia’s emotions. I could really see it in her eyes. Thank you for this!

Just listening to this made me think of Glimmer from She-ra (2018) and Eva from Oban: Star Racers. Glimmer was dealing with the loss of her mother while being queen to an entire world!
Eva's dad, Don Wei, was always distancing himself from his daughter which only hurt them both in the end. I think both of these would make perfect animatics with this song!

Thank you :) At the time I used medibang paint to draw everything, it’s a pretty good free art program that I used for years. Though now I mainly use clip studio paint, medibang is still a good option especially if you rather not spend any money!
