- This 1930s film of Symondsbury village features many of the villagers of the time in their various roles.
The full length film depicts:
The Post Office: Mrs Tuck
The Major: Sir Phillip Colfox
The Gardener: Jack Strange
The Chauffeur: Henry Douglas
The Net Makers: 'Old' Mrs Tuck and her daughter, Ivy Tuck
The Milkers: Raymond Crabbs father (?!) and Gerald Legg
The Rickmakers: Charlie Wills and Charl Taylor
Man on Horse: Charl Raymond
The Wheelwright: Dan Forsey and Ada Major
The Carpenters: Charlie Chedd and Fred Andrews on ladder
The Gardeners: Tom Guppy with hoe and John Cook picking up potatoes
The Handyman: Jack Stoodley and Mr Hardiman
The Rector: Reverend Streatfeild (who came to Symondsbury in 1932 - the only date we could connect)
The Gamekeeper: Jack Cook
The School Teacher: Miss Parker (some of the children are still living in Symondsbury today)
