Some really good thoughts on this kayak. Agreed with all of your negatives. I've had this kayak now for close to three years. At first, I was regretting my purchase. There were so many little things that were failing: leaky hatches, squeaking pedals, loose crank arm, latches popping off, mediocre turning radius, bungee hardware screwed directly into plastic instead of brass inserts, top bar of the chair digging into my back (I'm 6'2". Totally different experience to yours), etc. etc.
It took about 9 months to get everything dialed in, and the kayak has been awesome to use ever since, BUT I shouldn't have had to deal with all of the initial b.s. Mine was the first generation, and I know they've addressed some of these issues, but WS can still be doing a lot more.
They did get a lot of things right that outweigh the negatives imo. Like you said, the paddling is awesome. The best for a pedal kayak that I've tried. Love the idea of the flex pod ( but solve the damn leaking issue! After rough swells, there's an inch of water on the bottom, and I also put weather strips around the rim). The simplicity of the high and low mechanism for the chair is great. It's relatively light. Love how easy it is to steer with that handle. The most comfortable steering mechanism I've tried. The pedal drive is smooth to operate, much smoother compared to others imo. WS makes some of the best accessories, like the kayak krate and catch cooler that fit perfectly on this kayak. These are high end products.
I'll be in the market for another pedal kayak in about a year. I'll be selling my Radar and looking around. If WS has an updated Radar by then that addresses most of these issue, I'll be taking a close look at it. If not, they will have lost a customer.

I appreciate this video man. The lack of rod holders in a fishing kayak is just not ideal but I was willing to work around that. What I refuse to work around is the lack of customer service from Wilderness systems kayaks and you're not the first person that I've heard this from. Again thanks for the review.

Man I am SO glad I watched this! I was going to mount my FF on the pod after I saw yours there, thinking I would like to be able to pull it out and not mess with anything else... BUT then you mentioned putting the drive forward! Guess I'll go back to my original plan, put everything in the pod except the actual FF. Thanks!

Here in NE Iowa, most the water is shallow as well. I originally wasn't worried about having a 2nd longer paddle for this one, just use the shorter one I have for the Pungo, but after seeing your videos and talking about shallow, I just ordered a longer paddle. I'm gonna need it lol. Thanks again!

Thank you for saying the Feelfree hull/deck is (seems?) thicker than WS's. Having owned both brands myself, I also feel the same, but have numerous people telling me the opposite. There is a reason why Feelfree kayaks weigh what they do. As I bigger guy myself, I definitely appreciate the thicker plastic even if my back doesn't when hauling it.

I had a HELIX PD Drive for 25 five months (out of Warranty for one month), and used the PD Drive less than 12 times for short period of time in this two years. Yesterday, I was in the water and the PD Drive was deployed (down), then I heard a dry loud sound that I didn’t know where it came from. After I inspected the kayak I didn’t found any problem at that moment. Was later, when I tried to retract the PD Drive, I found that it was not possible because the thin metal spring had broken. Then I realized where the dry loud sound that heard before came from.
I would like to know if someone has had the same experience with the metal spring exploding without using it at the moment that it broke down. How difficult was to get the replacement part from Wilderness System?
