Listen to you and the wife's instincts about Lucy's babies. You can give them a good start by keeping them safe as you know. Lucy isn't my pet deer but I know if something happened to her babies many of us "fans" would be heart broken.

This was a fascinating update! I never knew deer ate dirt. Ranger and Indy play fighting at two weeks of age is amazing! Nina looks great but I am so glad that you are keeping them inside for a while longer. Lucy is such a good mother too. I always thought she would be. Thank you for the update Jimmy and Chris!

Yup, and some will be unmarked. It will likely change how they feel about hunting on their ranch when they realize they could be shooting their own semi-tame and very trusting deer.

😘😘😘. Jimmy the Deer Whisperer you’ll be known as when more babies are born and they become just as sweet as Lucy. I bet you and Chris worry when you leave the ranch and search the garage for them right away. Soon they’ll be running around in their shelter so fast they’ll leap right over the board in search of momma. A few weeks longer if you can would certainly give them a chance. Maybe at night Lucy will bring them back and they’ll know it as their safe place. You’re doing a great job and I know you’re loving every minute. Not everyone gets to see this up close and the more people trained they’re becoming will probably make them seek you out as long as they live. Just wonder about Milburn as he becomes a full male if he will hang around just cus he feels so safe with you. You sure started a journey of the deer that has captured our hearts too. Would love to see one day you walking like the Pied Piper with your herd following you and Lucy right by your side. What a sight that would be even with full grown bucks with huge antlers watching over you. Sure makes everyday more exciting especially in our senior years. Life is beautiful and God has blessed you being able to care for orphans and watch their life unfold. Thanks so much for the update 👍. Brings back memories of Bucky the deer we raised for 19 months. After he started to roam I put a tracking collar on him. He never came back to the farm. Would find him everyday about 6 miles from our farm. He crossed a major 5 lane road 9 times and more. Wildlife Wardens made me remove the collar. Never saw him again. What a great time many had with Bucky. 💝

A lot of people don’t know how dangerous a buck in rut can be, I’m so glad you tell people about that.
Your idea about leaving them in there for 3 or 4 more weeks is great idea, that way Nina (tiny) doe will be as big as Indy and have a way better chance doing good! Thank you for the update! I know it's hot in their for you to do those updates but they bring such a good feeling to the week after watching 😊

Nature amazes me! Jimmy finds a baby orphan deer (Lucy)/Lucy finds Jimmy, grows up, Lucy adopts another deer Melbourne, which Jimmy adopts as well in a way, then Lucy has triplets that she takes care of but Jimmy is also assisting in taking care of... one single deer can bring so much joy if one ever has this type of opportunity.
Even nature needs a little help every now and then. God is an awesome and amazing God. Thanks so much! God Bless! jimmy

30 years ago when I got in to bass fishing I didn’t care for jimmy. He was selling spinnerbaits and I couldn’t stand his chili bowl haircut. I was wrong about Mr. Houston. I love and respect this man for everything he’s done for conservation of our wildlife and his love of Jesus

Yes the tail wagging does mean they are getting food. I watch a lady who raise sheep in Canada and she said that when you see the tail wag it is a sign of getting milk. They are so cute and getting so big. You and Chris are a Blessing to us all.

Love watching these little ones. They are a lot like beef cattle. They keep well hid for the first 3 weeks until they get their strength in their legs and then will venture out. Then look out Lucy. It will be like the terrible two's when raising kids. I can understand how it is easy to lose one. It is difficult enough keeping track of 2 bedded fawns let alone where 3 might have been chased or ran off to.
