SU gOT THAT. ASU STILL GOOD THOUGH. ESPECIALLY THEIR TROMBONES
JSU STILL KILLING BOTH HOLY GRAIL
SU just had a better overall sound. Their musicianship is impeccable and their tone is glorious. Now ASU was dope too. The bones are off the chains. SU overpowered them. BUT. The one thing that I love about ASU is that they all look like they're having so much fun. SU's a little stiff and I get that, precision and all, but ASU just plays with a lot of joy and I love that. They can turn up too haha

Ion no what got into ASU this year but they have definitely gotten a lot cleaner, the power has always been there. They just needed to clean up. "HOLY GRAIL" Big Ups to the camera man for an equal videography work standing directly in the middle of the field.

Yes lord, I was there! SU completely bored the crowd with "Dangerously In Love", but their arrangements are nice. Alabama State was cleaner. Both bands have impressively balanced POWER! This was the best battle all year.

This was a great battle and this video does not do it justice. ASU did an awesome job and deserves a lot of respect! I was at this game and ASU took it to SU. From their choice of songs, strategic placement and intensity ASU was one point. When ASU played Holy Grail it put SU on their heels and won over the crowd. Moreover, when the director held the note when ASU was playing ” Lately” then brought them back from within the crowd, obviously not planed, shows the pulse of the crowd and electricity in the air. SU is a great band however nothing SU played matched ASU intensity or energy. You had to be there to truly understand what I am saying but believe me when I say ASU was awesome!!!!

The National Collegiate Athletic Association has named Southern University’s “Human Jukebox” marching band as the second best collegiate marching band in the country, topped only by Ohio State University.
The NCAA released a video on its website ranking Southern, Ohio State and three others college bands the top five in the country.
The University of Tennessee ranked fifth, Ohio University came in at number 4 and Stanford University ranked third.
I think you should really cover the Capital City Classic. JSU vs. Alcorn will be a very exciting battle this year.

Bama State didn't sound bad on a few song's but to say they took the W would be pushing it. Southern was more aggressive and impressive and it wasn't even close. Bama state need's to update their book or a better song selection to even compete with the HUMAN JUKEBOX. And those Bama State fan's booing SU, you were booing the wrong band!!
It's the same thing every year with all these bands and they still don't get it, trying to out blow SU is not the way to defeat them people. ASU please work on your intonation problems first within your upper brass section, your trombones are the best thing you all have..

That fermatta on "Have I told you I love you" was mistake. Whoever was trying to scream at the end was fading in and out. The fermatta destroyed the whole peice.
I think it's just that SU's arrangements are written just for them.. While ASU's are just written and hoped to fit them! STILL DOPE BATTLE THO!

Listening to su first song I never heard runs played that clear and clean by any band before. I love asu and su. They both have their own style and sound but I grew up hearing a lot about asu since I was young and all of a sudden here is su. My opinion, playing loud does not give you a W. Balance, phrasing and intonation is what interests me. Both bands did their thing but that trumpet player that came in early on part time lover, that just did it for asu. Again, good job to both bands.

There was a serious timing problem on asu's Part Time Lover! The percussion was running off an leaving the melody line consistently! They never seemed to able to rectify the problem throughout the song. That's the director's fault.

the fact old boy got MMH0205 tells us that we should believe you right! Not! both bands were bringing it but in the end SU arrangements are on another level from ASU, I will say this ASU sounds much better with a smaller band instead of having 250 plus.

I'm a true die-hard Alabama State alum...MMH crab 06...and I always tell it like it is...when Alabama State went to Jackson State they sent bama state home in a body bag...the boom hands down took the win for that game... and I was at the bama state and southern game also...both bands had their strong and weak points and IF southern had put us to shame in our own stadium I would have said that to but clearly bama state took the win on this one...not to say southern wasn't good...their best just wasn't good enough this time...and whoever said southern holy grail sounds better...please STFD..I love arrangements with a lot going on in it but SU holy grail doin TOO DAMN MUCH...not to take anything away from the arranger but whoever arranged it tried to hard...you kinda almost forget what the hell they playin...Sorry SU maby next time...
Sorry you ASU fans (crazy people). Y'all tried hard but you failed. SU got all in that. Cleaner but not clean enough. SU was cleaner and had a stronger fuller sound. Y'all holy grail should have stayed in church. SU showed you how it's suppose to be done though.
