UPDATE: After using this dryer for almost two months I wanted to add that is very important to clean the airflow in the back of the dryer otherwise it will make a different noise and lose a little bit of power. It happened to me and after I cleaned it, it went back to the awesome drying power it has. Again, I absolutely love this dryer!🌷
    **********
I've now owned my shark hyper air for over a month and absolutely love it! I have long wavy hair and it takes me 25 min to fully dry in low heat and medium speed. The diffuser is amazing. I'm glad I bought it when they had it on sale for $179!! I'm very happy with my decision ❤️❤️

@@GenaMarie I was thinking of buying the black orchid diffuser but I'm not sure it'd fit my dryer. After watching your video I'm rethinking my plan. Maybe I'll use my Christmas cash and splurge on the Shark hair dryer. I love the diffuser bowl it comes with. 🙂

It was one of the reasons I avoided Dyson. To pay that price and not even like the diffuser was ridiculous to me. Shark consulted with curly haired individuals to design it and it shows. I love my Shark dryer!

Thank you for this! I had been eyeing the Dyson, but I just can’t justify that ridiculous price point. I do like how the handle is more in the middle of the head of the dryer than other brands, but that’s about it. I never even knew Shark made hair dryers, but I may give it a shot!

I love your comparison videos! ❤️ I bought the Dyson last year to try to cut down on my dry time. I honestly don't even use it. I agree with you that it gets too hot, the diffuser makes my waves kind of wonky, it makes my hair feel really dry, and my dogs absolutely hate the sound it makes. I'm really excited to try the Shark, especially the diffuser. My sister's hair is more coarse and she straightens it pretty often so I'm going to give her my Dyson.

Not because the video was useful to me, but just because I think creators who put as much effort and thought into a review as you do deserve to have subscribers. Keep up the good job. Maybe you could end the revue with a star rating on things like price, appearance, design, usability, results and overall score.

I have the Dyson blow dryer for over one year and I still love it. With My previous dryer, it used to take 30 minutes and still my hair was wet. This is sooooo helpful! I've wondered about which of these dryers would be better for curly hair. The whole allure of the Dyson for me was the fast dry time... it's sooo good to know that the Shark dried your hair faster! I really love the Shark diffuser as well. It just looks like someone with curly hair designed it.

  • @debranorton6434

I have the Dyson, which I bought before the Shark came out. I really like my Dyson. I have long, coarse, barely wavy, mostly white hair. The Dyson cut my drying time almost in half. My husband adapted my old Black Orchid diffuser to use with the Dyson and I switch back and forth between the two diffusers. My hair dries quicker with the Black Orchid, but gets a bit of wonkiness that I can usually fix with the Dyson diffuser. All that to say, I wish the Shark would have come out sooner because I would probably have bought it. At the same time, I don't regret the "big bucks" I spent on the Dyson; it's such a well made machine that I will probably never have to replace it.

My aunt has both and my mom has really curly hair. We tried both on my mom's hair and the shark was so much better. Her hair is long and thick and the Dyson bowl area couldn't hold her hair and it got extremely hot really fast. There was a 10 minute difference between her dry times and her hair looked so much better from the Shark. I really want to get one someday,it's an amazing dryer.

You can actually use the cool setting on the Dyson continually. You just turn the heat all the way off with the heat settings button and it will blow continuously cool air instead of having to hold down the cool shot button. It’s the major selling point of the Dyson for me. Ulta has great sales for Dyson a couple times a year.

Definitely sold me on the Shark hair dryer! I bought the Dyson supersonic two years ago during the Sephora annual sale, and I returned it. I didn't think it was worth 500$ (Canadian). I will definitely get the Shark one soon... It is very complicated for me to air dry my hair in the winter here in Canada! So a dryer would be so useful. I see the Shark dryer is on sale now on Amazon. Does anyone know if it is often on sale? I am not ready to purchase now! Thank you Gena!

@@GenaMarie I ended up getting the shark dryer and I felt like it was SO hot even on low compared to my old hair dryer (which I also only used on low). It felt like it was burning my scalp! I did an experiment where I tested the temps for all temperature settings on my old Conair and the Shark. Sure enough, the lowest setting on the Shark was almost as high as the highest setting on my Conair (152F vs 158F, respectively). This worries me as far as possible damage (I know the company claims no damage, but don’t they all). I’m finding conflicting info on what hair dryer temp causes damage to fine hair. Do you happen to know if this is getting into dangerous territory? I’d imagine no one would recommend scrunch/pixie diffusing on a high setting on even my old dryer? Especially since the dryer is held in place for more than a few seconds. What are your thoughts on this? Editing to say I reeeesaaaaaaally want this shark dryer to work out because it does dry fast BUT not damaging my hair is my top priority!

I have been considering splurging on a new dryer and the diffuser shape is BY FAR the biggest concern for me which is why the Shark is so appealing. My next biggest concern is heat. I try to dry on cool as even low gets pretty warm on my scalp. What is the first/lowest heat setting (besides the cool shot)?

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

With the Shark the lowest heat setting is still hot air but it’s not burning feeling in my opinion. It’s not “warm” air though. You would have to mix in the cold shot button to get a cooler air when it’s on low.
The Conair dryer I used prior to own the Shark had more of just a warm air temp on the lowest setting

Hi! I got this for Christmas and immediately used it! I tend to hover and then pixie diffuse but I found this dryer even on low setting to be extremely hot on my scalp. I was constantly holding down the cool shot button while pixie diffusing and my hair ended up looking like straw on the ends. There may be a learning curve because your hair looks fantastic! Is there a different way I should be diffusing with this dryer? Do you think the heat is going to damage my hair?
    Thanks!

    • @hopiiii1

My lowest setting is too hot, called Dyson and they said I could send it to them for testing or return to store and exchange it. Ordered another will compare the 2, if I have to hold the cool shot the whole time, I will return it. I do feel it is excessive heat and it will damage hair...way to hot for scalp.

You don't necessarily need to diffuse curly hair on low heat. Manes By Mell hover diffuses on high heat. I tried her method and my hair is in good condition. I have thick, coarse hair. It would take a long time to dry it on low heat.

    • @GenaMarie

I had a Black Orchid diffuser and it took 45mins to dry my curly fine hair originally with a standard professional dryer (Parlux). Then I bought a second hand Dyson and did a hack to attach my Black Orchid (as Dyson diffuser is rubbish in comparison) and it took/takes only about 15 minutes to dry. There's an adapter now called the Snozzle Pro that you can use to attach just about any diffuser to any dryer that curlies now use to attach the Black Orchid or Amaxy diffuser to their Dysons via the smoothing attachment or styling concentrator.

I HATED HATED HATED the Shark. Manyyyyyyyy reasons why, I found it blew harder, hotter, louder than my hair dryers and did not have a constant cool setting, unlike my Dyson and my T3. Honestly, it took longer to dry, too, and I used the routine I always use. Sent it back immediately, it was a total failure in every way, in my opinion, I never hated a dryer before and my results were AWFUL! And my Orchid diffuser blows the Shark’s away, hands down. My hair dries really fast (except the back of my head) so a gentle, cooler dryer like my T3 is so much better, and I just love my Dyson in the summer.

Have tried all the attachments and still get frizzy hair. Behairful brush is waaaay too big for my wavy hair with long aggressive bristles.
