In the latest episode of Fly Girl, "Wicked" headliner Lindsay Mendez treats fans to a look at Elphaba's many onstage transformations. She then enjoys a dressing room chat with co-star Katie Rose Clarke.

It's amazing to see how calm the whole team is during quick-changes and greenifying her for act 2. All of the quick changes I've done are super rushed and panicky. Broadway, man!
Quick changes are stressful!
I'm a dancer haha! And on the last show that we did, we had like two songs (6 minutes!!) to change and we aaaalways panic! Hahaha Even with soo much time for a show! Ahaha
xtyna100 when I did grease ( not on broadway or west end) I had a really quick change and I had to do the same run as the run in defying gravity running down very scary stairs in heels and people behind you was not fun I only had 2 songs but they were not long it I was freaking out but I couldn't make any noise as quick change area was behind the stage
They’ve rehearsed and done that Quick Change so much that it’s second nature by this point.
when i did the little mermaid i had 10 minutes to change from a fish to a chef and even that was stressful. my friend who played Ariel legit got to stand behind a prop while singing and had to transform from a mermaid to a human in like 20 seconds and i don’t know how she did it!
Hahahah was I the only one at the beginning that was seriously worried that she was going to miss her entry because where the music was at on the speakers??? xx
She still has quite a bit of time during that point in the show
She comes on slightly later than the beggining of the show... she comes in during the school scene, if you’ve seen the show. No hate
Yeah, tbh I was more stressed when Glinda was still chatting in Lindsay’s dressing room at 5 minutes since she needed to get her bubble dress on and get in her bubble and she is in the opening number!
Lily Argent No...during this clip, the show has already started. She said that she came off just as Fiyero was beginning “Dancing Through Life”. As she was changing, you could hear Boq and Nessarose singing their small duet near the end of the song. That means she needed to be back on stage in just a few minutes.
@@SilverArro I think the OP pertains to the start of Act 2. Regarding that, she still does have time thru Thank Goodness.
It's so weird that in the costume change for Dancing Through Life, I was like "hurry up!!! You've got to get back on stage!!!!!"

i panicked so much when they said they only had five minutes ahhh
omg it's a five minute call and they're just chilling. i would be FREAKING OUT trying to rush the makeup! hahaha

Actually, not to burst your bubble (Get it! BUBBLE! Like Glinda's?) but I think that is not a coincidence at all. She probably has that so she doesn't get disgusted when a clear water bottle gets covered in green. This way she can't see the "dirt"

This is the most in-depth vlogging series so far. Nice to actually see what goes into the performance as it's happening as well as taking a tour around the stage etc. It's really exciting to watch!

It's cool to see how when they do shows they are much more calm. Only shows I have ever done are the ones that are finished within a weekend so quick changes are very stressful. When she came in and they were just chilling for her first quick change I was like... UHM. Wow--- That's awesome. Just the fact that all these things have been mastered and the repetitive schedule just shows how on top of things they really are! Love this show. LOVE BROADWAY.

Usually you see Elphie taller than Glinda, I really love how the Spanish girls’ Glinda is tall and the Elphies are tiny!!!

I just realized that Danna Paola from the Mexico city company is an already very well known actress and pop star in Mexico! She did a drama when she was very young that my little cousin was obsessed with, so great to see this!

If anyone doesn't know what the "toekini" things are, im a dancer and we call them foot undeez bc they look like underwear but they go in your feet, and ya we do use them in modern so we can still turn even tho we are barefoot, bc it is hard to turn when you are completely barefoot.

if each act II dress is made for each elphie, I wonder what happens to them when the actress finishes her time in the show? do they keep them, are they donated, is the fabric re used for the next one?
Alley Usually they keep the costumes from each cast. If the next Elphaba is a similar size or the same size they might reuse the same dress, but most likely not. The dress will be put in storage for when the show is ever done regionally, the regional company can rent a costume package from Broadway and use the costumes. However Wicked is so popular that it’s not open to do regionally until it leaves Broadway. Make sense?
depends sometimes they ask to keep their costumes and either keep and or donate/auction or what the person said above

These kinds of videos are always super interesting to me, because I do high school Theatre and it's really interesting that a lot of the backstage mood and atmosphere is very similar, obviously Wicked on Broadway is going to have more advanced level of professionalism, but a lot of the Traditions are shared
