Thank You!! Just did a 7:38 tonight in the M3 GT2 so I've got a long way to go. Switched to the M4 GT3 and could immediately tell how much faster and agile that car is. Your driving is flat-out balls-out. Keep it up!
Hi Yorkie065, I just wanted to say a quick shoutout & THANKYOU!!! for doing this video, even though it is a few years old now.As I always found the Nordschleife too intimidating to learn & try, but after starting my own (amateur) PC Racing Channel, I knew I had to finally take a deep breath and give it a try. But it is your video, that helped me immensely in doing that. So I naturally tried using the same CAR / GEARING / LINES that you showed here, but with both TC & ABS on to help learn it.But I am in no way asking you to watch the video - just saying a BIG THANKYOU from other TH-cam Racers, that have used this video as guidance - AND GOOD LUCK with PROJECT CARS 2
Hey Yorkie, I really enjoy your videos, keep up the good work, buddy! I have an idea for future track guide/learning a new track type videos: in AC, enabling the "Track Description" (I think that's what it's called) overlay might be nice for viewers. For the uninitiated, this puts on-screen the name of whatever you're driving over; if driving through Eau Rouge at Spa, the text "Eau Rouge" comes onto the screen. As there are many famous turns and segments, I've found it helps me learn the names of track segments to enable this when I'm doing practice laps, particularly with the huge number of named, famous, and infamous turns on the North Loop. I tend to avoid using the Track Map overlay when driving, but I think putting the map and track description overlays together off to one side may be a nice addition to your very informative videos, and would help put faces to names, so to speak, in a racing sense of the phrase.
Congrats on 5k+ subs. I'm pretty confident on this track and know it pretty much 100% by now but i have noticed two or three turns where i'm overly aggressive compared to you. Funnily enough i have watched that RSR video (think it was a clio sport) before also and it actually really helped.
86 THEMADHATTER Yeh it's a brilliant video and it helped me a lot. A few things in this have come from trial and error. Also doing that video, I needed to do 2 laps in 1 take so whilst I was pushing, I was half playing it safe in places that I knew I needed to as well. Third lap though was pushing more and seeing if I could beat my last time and by how much as a bit of a bonus :P
How many laps do you think you have done in total? That was a cracking good bit of driving. I went in 2013 on my bike. It's so much more bumpy than it appears to look on this game. I was on my GSXR 600 and my lap time was 9.52.044 not a fast lap but it was great fun.
Incredible good driving mate! Very clean and you can see that you have 100% controll in almost every corner. However in terms of gearing I have to disagree a bit with you. In some corners (exspecially the ones you run in 4th gear) you are running pretty low on rev (hatzenbach wher you run in 4th gear through that left, right, left) in addition to that i think a higher gearing would aid you. Not much but just a bit. Apart from that I really have to say that im impressed by your driving
@@owcarnia In racing, short shifting is a technique intended to avoid losing valuable acceleration time changing gears later. Although this means not being able to accelerate using the engine's peak power at the moment of the gear change
I'm proud because i have same traj', breaking point and attacks moves you have. U very good driver IG, and you can be good race driver IRL for sure Bigup from France
yonatan pandelaki maybe, it's played on my mind but then there's the question of what cars to do it in, and trying to find very good setups for tracks that I may not have setups for. We'll see though.
Great videos as always. Congrats on 5k! I'm a new sub :) You only using a Driving Force GT? You should get a thrustmaster or Fanatec, when I moved from the DFGT to my Thrustmaster TX it was like night and day, such a good wheel. In fact, maybe we could all pitch in and get you one sorted, theres 271 views on the video as I watch it, if all us subs pitch in we could raise money towards a fanatec so you can make even better vids ;)
Edmard1 In one of his last videos, he was talking about getting a fanatec but some of his friends were saying how he shouldn't get one, nevertheless I think he is good on money for getting a new steering wheel when he wants.
cool man, I hope he does upgrade. I'm not saying he can't afford one, I was just in a good mood and felt like we should pay him back. I enjoy his vids much more than most other similar youtubers.
Edmard1 yeh please don't worry about giving me money! My wheels working perfectly fine still which is why I haven't upgraded, the pedals are starting to go though (I think) so I am thinking of getting a set of fanatecs which I've had my eye on to replace those, hopefully for my B'day. And yeh whilst they were saying they had issues, the pedals that Mo was using (the one who got his brake pedal stuck), turns out he bought them 2nd hand and also had them for about a year and half. Hopefully though, I can get something sorted with an upgrade and I have my eye on a few things, it's just getting my mind fully set on choosing specifics.
George Day 6.27 I had got a couple of days after the Dream DLC came out. Now I think they've adjusted the P1's grip levels so it's a little slower. Haven't seen what I could do in it since then.
Yaser Al-Sokary I like watching Yorkie drive too. but watching him drive, don't it wanna make you get a wheel and drive yourself. It does me, and I sure a lot of other people too. Go on fella treat yourself :))
***** I have to admit the dfgt is a great wheel I also have one that is just gathering dust and I have been meaning to sell it on ebay, reason for this is because now I have the thrustmasters T300Rs to use on the PS4 and the DFGT can't be used on the PS4, And I expect that Yaser AI-Sokary has a XBOX ONE.Although Thrustmasers do do a version for XBOX ONE
looks better than gt6. i think the engine hood view is more realistic, because when you drive u don´t see the mirror and the interior. u just watch outside
TOP Nürburgring Videos TH-camchannel You see a lot of the interior when driving IRL, but obviously you're just focused on whats infront, same with the cockpit view here. It's why I have motion blur and the FOV set to what it is in my videos. I like to be able to see everything as close to real life, and let my eyes focus on whatever it is I want to look at infront of me, or in and around the car.
Great guide, but just my 2 cents, no need to downshift to 3rd gear at Bergwerk, (6:30), you can brake, late turn in in 4th gear and u wont loose the momentum, also at plfanzgarten,1 8:47 it's recommended to brake a tiny bit right before the jump, and then let the car flow through the bump.(at least that's how they do it in real life) otherwise you could lock the rear wheels if u brake while in mid air like you did, Other. than that I pretty much share your same driving line.
Axel46 I have taken it in 4th a couple of times as it does help with stability. As for Plfanzgarten, I know you're meant to brake before, but every time that I do I get the timing wrong and nose dips too much or I brake too early which is why I do it in the way I did in this video. Feels more natural to me, quicker and I'm comfortable with it but everyone has their own way.
for Plfanzgarten i let go of the gas like 10-15 meter before the jump and then just slighly pres the break after landing can turn in nicely and get back on throttle, other wise its a mess, but i havent driven it much, got asseto corsa this week :D prefer the ring in AC compared to PC wich i drove before
Good video Yorkie! Does the laser scanned track on Assetto Corsa feel better than PCARS? More alive and fun to drive? I am impatiently waiting on the May release of this sim.
ihamptonii They both feel very similar infact. Obviously there's finer detail in AC with micro bumps, but PCars has some micro bumps in key places. The main difference is that long straight. Hell of a lot more bumpy in AC than PCars
Hey Yorkie. Been watching your latest videos on Pcars. I have the game from Steam, but won't be able to play until this weekend. What is your opinion about the AI? Is it more similar to RRE, AC, GSC or Rf2? I have a T500 wheel notes on set-up? Thanks Keep up the great work!
Tony Stark You can buy a separate H Shifter that you then plug into USB and use that if you want yes, same with pedals. I however just use the DFGT and it's pedals, and the sequential shifter on the side. Haven't touched the flappy paddels on the back in months.
Very nice again, tough I am waiting for the PC version :) I would like to ask, what do you use to look arount the cockpit so smoothly? And how does that work? Would like to get something like it myself too, but have no idea what it is, or how it works. Thank you.
Roland Németh TrackIR 5. Basically 2 sensors, one ontop of my monitor that's like a webcam, the other an attachment thats on the side of my headset. Use infra red to basically track head movement and puts that into the game, but it's not 1 to 1 scale as obviously I need to keep my eyes on the monitor. About 30 degrees of real head movement equals about 90 degrees in-game. Nice piece of software that allows you to change sensitivity and amount of head movement for certain things. Fantastic piece of kit and completely changes the games that work with it! This video showcases it nicely with all it's features and tracking movements: th-cam.com/video/9wXx3vMy_AQ/w-d-xo.html
Very good driving ang explanation of the track! You could be even faster with a few settings changed.. The car is a little bit understeering and your brakebalance is too much focused on the front so you ruin your tyres too fast. Try to do a brakebalance with more force on the rear brakes and maybe more toe and camber on the front with less tyre pressure.
Do you mind if I ask what wheel/pedals you're using? I shaved 7 seconds around this track pretty quickly after upgrading from a TM RGT FFB Pro to a Logitech G920. Wondering if an even better wheel/pedal combo is worth the expense. Thx
***** I don't know, I imagine they are similar but I haven't used a racing line assist in years. And generally, yes it is. It makes you learn a track twice.
been using the game pad to play this game as i havent owned a real racing sim yet. P. cars seems like a good starting point. Ive basically decided on a DFGT already and was super glad to see how well one can do using one. how much of a difference can i expect in experience when switching from the ps4 controller to the wheel?
T.B. Squad Quite a big difference. You will be slower to start off with than you were on a pad, and that is usually for a week to a few weeks depending on how much you play the game. But the more you get used to the wheel, the gap will shrink, you have more control over the car, the experience is generally better, more realistic and enjoyable, and then you'll start to pass and be quicker than you were with a pad. Just about patience and building up slowly when you first get a wheel.
Yorkie065 The hardest part with the gamepad in Project cars is placing the car. Sure i can get it around the corners quickly enough, but im not hitting apexs, nor is it smooth. and smooth = fast. plus to get the car to react as smoothly as possible, i turn the steering ratio to the slowest setting on every car and that means correcting a slide... well its just not gonna happen lol. thanks for the feedback mate. looking foward to clocking a lot of hours in P. cars with the DFGT.
D1visor It was in a hotlap session, and make sure penalties are on and set a valid lap time. Once you do that, the ghost of your fastest lap will appear.
I was 4 second after your time with Vette. I know there are places where it can be improved, but I also remember your race with Gentlemens club in PCars. Someone there got time like 6:10 if I m not mistaken? I can't belive how it could be done as your lap is really, really fast one. Congrats on that though!
Onboard Nürburgring Nordschleife - Porsche 911 GT3 Cup: th-cam.com/video/8lqt8TioEDc/w-d-xo.html As you can notice, you are almost always 1 gear higher (some places even 2 gears) than they are in real life racing and you manage to gain at least 30 seconds per lap against them! I guess this Assetto Corsa is more of a simcade than a simulation game ... am I right?
check out the current lap times from the last VLN race (Nords + short circuit): Porsche 911 GT3 Cup fastest lap time : 8:33.946 Audi R8 LMS had the fastest GT3 lap time: 8:05.579
hey i know its obvious that your using track ir but what type of screen setup do you have ? im quite a racing enthusiast recently replaced my busted g27 but now i can afford to further my setup and was wondering if i should go more screens or track ir
I currently only use 1 screen for racing. A tripple screen setup is definitely being considered but my main screen that I have at the moment has been discontinued and I'm struggling to find something I can afford, like and is similar. Oh, and also space for the 3 :P But yeah, TrackIR works well enough with 1 :)
Yorkie065 cheers iv done a few laps in the lotus 49 which is probably a terrible car to learn the track with lol iv only done 3 flying laps 7.35 and 2 x 7.27 theres plenty of time to come off that ghough because neither were anythjng like clean laps. That car is seriously fast and it's also a bit of an animal lol
Quentis Gillispie it's just the FOV I drive in, but the videos are also part of the reason as to why I use this FOV. The other being it feels more realistic to me in terms of how much I can actually see on screen. I know how you're meant to set up the FOV and calculate it to get a truely accurate representation of what you would have in real life, but I'd like to get a triple screen setup if I was to do that.
Kerb, road and slip effects, what exactly do they do? I use a thrustmaster t500rs and just got into sim racing. I'm having a hard time finding ideal settings! In my steering wheel configuration I'm using 60% overall strength and 100% on the others. In-game I use 20% kerbs 40% roads and 8% slip because someone told me to! Some advice for a new player? Thank you!
+lycon7000 They're canned effects for the FFB to give you vibration/feedback for the kerbs, road bumps and tyre slip. Personally I have them down pretty low as I'm not a fan of canned (false) ffb effects, but like you I'm struggling to find something I like.
BeingIndianGamer I've had my face on my channel before. And don't do them whilst driving because I don't have a webcam, and using my phone isn't a good idea as my desk wobbles a little sometimes using the wheel so it will probably end up falling over :P
Hey Yorkie. Nice video but might I suggest a different take on the educational vid. What I find is that some people don't know how to dissect any given corner or track and by that I mean they don't know the basics of how to approach and learn a new track. How about trying your hand at a video that teaches folk how to teach themselves the way to learn a new track so that they can take that knowledge and apply it to any given track, circuit or stretch of tarmac? I'm just throwing this one out there as I enjoy your vids and and find that you can convey clearly and concisely the point your making. A big ask I know as I'm not sure how I would even go about it myself but I reckon you could be the man with the plan.
Roy Rki That's an awesome video chum. I actually learnt the track through Gran Turismo 5's breakdown and was in the process of honing that knowledge with AC's scanned version until my PC mobo fried AND my T500 within a week of each other!. Kudos to PD it must be said as their version is excellent even though it's not scanned. Why I posted the above blurb is because I have a few friends who struggle with learning any track and just don't seem to be able to grasp the concept of hitting the apex through braking points and turn-in points and the whole 'going slower through corners makes you faster overall'. I do know that iRacing had a load of tutorial vids. Thanks for link though. Bookmarked for future analysis. ;-)
Bilbo T. Baggins It's something that I want and plan to do, it's just finding the available time to do it. I used to do this sorta stuff for the F1 codemasters games, but I didn't have a full time job back then and would spend the couple of days that I had completely free doing each episode. It's something for the future definitely, as I do enjoy making these types of videos. And yeh, Roy Rki's video is very good, it's also what I posted in the description :P haha
Yorkie065 I really must read the full descriptions in future as I completely missed that you'd added that link. Oops! Would definitely be interested in educational racing vids. As I'm sure your very aware their are many lines through any given corner that can work better for different styles of driver so it's always interesting to see the lines that other sim racers take (maybe even borrow!) ;-) I suppose you could expand on the idea to include negotiating traffic going into, in the middle of and also exiting corners farther down the road (no pun intended). The list is endless. Looking forward to the fruits of your labour (but keep the racing vids coming please as they're just great fun to watch).
I really enjoy watching these live commentaries. I've never seen someone self commentate a racing game like this before.

T.B. Squad aaaand just realized this was assetto corsa :|
How do you get the ghost car? Great driving!
D1visor It was in a hotlap session, and make sure penalties are on and set a valid lap time. Once you do that, the ghost of your fastest lap will appear.
Thanks!
do you run your GT3 cars with 900° lock? I always guessed it was more like 450 to 540°?
Great drivinig! Could you please make video or at least tell what is your lap record with c7r?
+Jan Ludwik Kotowski Not done a proper lap in it. I've driven it, just not all the way round the track.
I was 4 second after your time with Vette. I know there are places where it can be improved, but I also remember your race with Gentlemens club in PCars. Someone there got time like 6:10 if I m not mistaken? I can't belive how it could be done as your lap is really, really fast one. Congrats on that though!
why drive on 4th gear at hatzenbach?
Onboard Nürburgring Nordschleife - Porsche 911 GT3 Cup:
th-cam.com/video/8lqt8TioEDc/w-d-xo.html
As you can notice, you are almost always 1 gear higher (some places even 2 gears) than they are in real life racing and you manage to gain at least 30 seconds per lap against them! I guess this Assetto Corsa is more of a simcade than a simulation game ... am I right?
Gt3 cup is slower than z4 gt3, the equivalent porsche would be the 911 gt3 r.
30-40 seconds per lap slower? Yeah, right ... :))
check out the current lap times from the last VLN race (Nords + short circuit):
Porsche 911 GT3 Cup fastest lap time : 8:33.946
Audi R8 LMS had the fastest GT3 lap time: 8:05.579
I always spin out and the wheel feels very stiff (t300rs) would that be because of my settings??
hey i know its obvious that your using track ir but what type of screen setup do you have ? im quite a racing enthusiast recently replaced my busted g27 but now i can afford to further my setup and was wondering if i should go more screens or track ir
Alright, thanks for taking the time to reply
allow game to adjust settings disabled?
Yeah i thougth the same
Colin Kramer but it feels good if you increase the ffb of cars ingame with + on keybord.
what setup do you use for the car?
eatthisvr6 this was with the default setup
Yorkie065 cheers iv done a few laps in the lotus 49 which is probably a terrible car to learn the track with lol iv only done 3 flying laps 7.35 and 2 x 7.27 theres plenty of time to come off that ghough because neither were anythjng like clean laps. That car is seriously fast and it's also a bit of an animal lol
Is that the field of view you drive in or just for videos?
Quentis Gillispie it's just the FOV I drive in, but the videos are also part of the reason as to why I use this FOV. The other being it feels more realistic to me in terms of how much I can actually see on screen. I know how you're meant to set up the FOV and calculate it to get a truely accurate representation of what you would have in real life, but I'd like to get a triple screen setup if I was to do that.
I have a triple screen setup and still use a FOV similar to yours. LOL, I agree it feels more realistic.
How do you make your camera moving while turning wheel?
TrackIR 5. It's tracking my head movement.
Hey very good!
how is he freely moving his head around?
+Jrome Miles TrackIR 5.
if i trust the car as u said, i wouldn't be able to leave the parking lot! LOL
u great... nuff said :D
Hey yorkie why dont u do a Facecam?
BeingIndianGamer I've had my face on my channel before. And don't do them whilst driving because I don't have a webcam, and using my phone isn't a good idea as my desk wobbles a little sometimes using the wheel so it will probably end up falling over :P
nice escuse mate!
Hello do you also have a feel that loosing grip is not really pronouced in this game? This one thing is bothering me.
is it just me,or there isnt any ffb settings?
+Shorti Illz There are very few. It's kind of disappointing as I've not found the FFB that I am happy with yet with my new wheel.
For viewers on mobile: zoom in 1.7/1.8x. Realistic pov.
What car?
Bmw z4 gt3
Nordschleife drives you
Bilbo T. Baggins watch this vid: watch?v=qhAvWCFOzD4
Should be full-on frottle down ere... 🙃
Video starts at 3:00
there are no 2nd gear curves on the ring sorry, ask the experts!
TheMerlinshawk that obviously depends on the gear ratio setup of the car
