    Probably the best version/interpretation of the Horn trio I have ever heard. All three musicians play their parts perfectly, knowing when to 'voice' the respective themes and motives. The violinist and especially the horn know how to produce a soft gentle sound and doing justice to this exquisite gem of a work of Brahms.

    Wonderful performance of what may be the greatest chamber piece involving a horn. The violinist is fabulous and the pianist is unbelievable. Bill Caballero is such an astounding horn player. I heard him perform Tchaikovsky 5 with Pittsburgh a few years back, and I'm not sure that solo could be played any better than he did.

    They blended the violin and horn so beautifully! Brahms helped with that, but it's still sooo hard! I'm amazed!

    Bravo! Great performance! Along with Schubert’s ‘Trout Quintet’ this is a shining jewel of 19th-century chamber music.

    I learned this piece by hearing Perlman-Tuckwell-Ashkenazy years ago. This is competitive, with the wonderful horn playing, but the violin is seriously undermiked.

      So i checked several recordings of this piece which i have access to here, and i feel in most recordings the violins presence is taking away too much of the grand pianos overtones and especially the smooth high end of the horn. In the end a matter of taste, but the volume of violin and horn for me are on the same level, especially in the calm passages.

    An excellent performance, but the recording is kinda woofy (indistinct) in the lower registers, IMHO. Still, a lovely rendition!

    This is a weird sentiment but this piece almost sounds like it could be a background for Hollow Knights. Might be because of the quick and light piano work.

    I don't see the pianist turn the page even once, perhaps he had it by heart

    Violin lost out in the sound engineering, unfortunately. Barely audible at times.

      ? Thought is was a sensitive balance. There are moments for each tp shine, all three players. I thought the performers delivered in this regard.

    • @donaldconley802
      @donaldconley802 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That is to say, in Brahms' design, all players are equals, each developed according to capacity and soloistic spotlight, each in their own turn. Sometimes supportive and sometimes accompanying.

      Haven't finished this recording yet but it wouldn't suprise me. I've played this piece as the violinist and its very easy to get drowned out. The other two instruments are simply louder.

    Too timid. Too traditional. And too afraid to take chances.

      It's a TH-cam thing with lots of classical music. There's always someone that hates it or could have done better themselves. @@ethangrieshop9405
