  • Reporter Danielle Miller of KSAZ FOX 10 interviews Jack Barz, co-owner of Organ Stop Pizza in Mesa, AZ about their bet with the only other Pizza and Pipes concept restaurant in the US, the Organ Piper Pizza Palace in Wisconsin regarding the finals between the Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks!
    --
Just like the Suns vs. the Bucks, Organ Stop Pizza, home of The Mighty Wurlitzer and the state’s oldest pizza restaurant, has waged war with a Milwaukee competitor, Organ Piper Musical Palace. As the last two remaining pizza and pipes restaurants in the U.S., these two establishments know what it’s like to be rare - just like the NBA title.
“Everyone in the Valley has serious Suns fever right now, including us at Organ Stop,” said Jack Barz, co-owner of Organ Stop Pizza. “The last time the Suns were in the NBA finals was almost 30 years ago, so we want to show our support to the team any way we can - even if that means making a bet with one of our fellow pizza and pipes brethren. We are confident the Suns will win and we cannot wait to see our friends in Wisconsin in purple and orange.”
Barz feels confident the Suns are going to bring home the Larry O'Brien NBA Championship Trophy, so much so that he is putting his company’s pride on the line.
If the Suns win the title, the Organ Piper Musical Palace organist and owner will be forced to wear a Phoenix jersey and do a rousing rendition of We Are the Champions, dedicated to Organ Stop Pizza. Plus, the restaurant will have to make a pepperoni pizza with the winning team’s name spelled out in the meaty treat and post the owner eating it on social media.
However, if the Bucks win the coveted trophy, the Organ Stop team will begrudgingly be sporting a Milwaukee jersey, make a tribute pizza pie, and perform the Queen hit in honor of the Buck’s big win.
“This bet is a fun way to get involved in a history-in-the-making moment,” added Derek Paikowski, owner of Organ Piper Musical Palace. “The last time the Bucks won a final was in 1971 and we are ready to change that, especially if it means seeing Jack in a Bucks’ jersey.”
Serving the Valley for almost 50 years, Organ Stop’s Mighty Wurlitzer is the largest and finest theater organ in the world today. Its nearly 6,000 pipes, numerous percussions, and countless traps are masterfully presented by the musical staff who are world-class musicians. Organ Stop Pizza attracts hundreds of thousands of patrons each year with its theatrical performances complete with dancing cat puppets, disco ball and bubbles. Songs range from classical music and Disney favorites to pop and rock hits. Only cash and checks are accepted; an ATM is located in the lobby. For more information visit, www.organstoppizza.com
