I've never been moved by any game as much as this one, Gregory's story in particular. It started as a wonderful, joyous view of the world from a baby's perspective, then brought a tear to my eye. This game is an absolute Tour de force and a near-perfect example of the videogame as art. I cannot recommend this enough. Bravo Annapurna!
This game is amazing.. So impressive, I was so surprised and I don't normally like these kinda games. This is like the first time playing Longest Journey when it first came out.
I really enjoyed this. Yes, very reminiscent of Gone Home and, just the same, I shed a few tears with this one. From time to time it feels good to play a game that is about the story and experience. This will be a favorite for a while.
This game was amazing. Although it was short it after each persons story it made you stop and think about why they did what they did and how there connected to the storyline. It made you wanna learn more about the family curse and what’s going to happen to Edith and if she’s going to get taken by in the family curse too. This is most definitely one of my favorite games ever I would 100% recommend.
What a fun play this is. Loved every room and story. Cutting fish physically and playing through with the dialog on separate thumbsticks at the same time was INTENSE. Very creative. ❤
When I was going back through some gameplays I realized that there were Heath flowers outside of the house. These downward facing flowers represent solitude. I think I was the only one who really noticed it though...
Two hours is just the right length for this game. I loved it, but I must say I expected more at the end since the main goal was to know what remains of the last Finch
Peter Tel Go get it. Like now. I love Ethan Carter beyond reason, Gone Home was absolutely brilliant, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture was great... But this, Edith Finch, is something extraordinary.
Agreed it's so far ahead. The most immersive game I've played since Resident Evil 7 and that was in VR. This is actually liked better though and if it had a VR element, it would be everything to come out in VR for years to come probably.
I absolutely hate these types of games... that being said, I loved this game. It’s unlike anything I’ve played before. I didn’t know whether to be happy or sad but just questioning everything I’ve seen. 10/10
For me it was. I enjoyed looking at all the little details I missed, the titles of books in every room, the cookbooks in the kitchen, the books on Norse mythology in Edie's room, the family photos scattered throughout the house, the little notes and obituary for one of the family members on the fridge, the bottles of medication on the dining table, the garden plots for each of the children, the newspaper clippings that reveal little things (like how Edith's father died) etc. All those things are there to find and you can piece together small bits of the story from those. You can infer Sam's style of raising his children, that he was probably pretty strict, and that he was in the military. None of that is told to you, but from the children's schedule, their bedroom, his bedroom and all the mementos and decorations in them you get a pretty good idea. But I love walking sims and piecing stories together and finding little details that help me doing that. So ymmv.
Just played and finished it. It was alright but I like firewatch more. There are more things to do and more spaces to roam in firewatch. This games feels like a book or movie with very little interaction. I didn't feel like I was part of the story but more like an audience. In firewatch, I felt like I was the protagonist and my actions has consequences.
Can anyone help me understand Mollys death? I am waaaaaay too dumb to get it. Was a murderer the "monster"? Was her hunger the "monster"? Was there an actual monster? Something else? I love that section sooo much, so many chills at the end, yet I do not understand it
She was killed by a snake bite I think. She might have had a dream of the experience of being all the animals that led to her being the snake that eventually got in the house and bit her? Which in all reality these people would never get time to write about how they died but it's kinda more of a fantasy or Poem. It's full of Allegory and beautifully done. It makes death almost a happy thing.
it makes alot of sense, both the toothpaste or the snake. Either way poison and hallucination. I guess I was looking at more of a literal "monster" as an answer and was blinded from the most rational answer. Thanks for explaining it
Kekles I’m pretty sure she poisoned herself, a combination of old gerbil food, toothpaste and those holly berries. She starts off the journal entry saying “I’ll be gone soon but I need to tell you what happened” or something like that, which makes me think she knows she was feeling unwell and then started hallucinating. She was also locked in her bedroom and trying to/asking her mum if she could come out now at the start. So seems to me like she had a slow, food related death locked in there! Either way, I hated that story. It gave me the creeps XD
Uhhm... @3:04 😬 Have you ever actually ridden on a swing before? 😅💖👍 Happy to see you managed it in the game anyway 😁 I just found that really really amusing 😉 Have a nice day ^_^
This is probably one of the biggest let downs I've ever experienced playing a game. Nothing is answered, you don't find out anything meaningful about the family, you don't find out how the sister actually died, you don't find out what happened to Milton or why there is a supposed curse on the family. I expected there to be a shocking revelation about what happened to Milton as the big reveal to tie everything together, but you get nothing. And just as you're about to get answers about the family curse, that sequence ends. The entire game ends with a weird, cringe birthing scene which freaked me out. My wife and I got done with the game and were like, "Wait, what, that's it? Wow, this is so disappointing." I don't understand all the people saying they were moved or started crying or whatever. I wanted to throw my controller at the TV, that's how badly this game ends.
You might find meaning from the video about the villain of Edith Finch. It explains what happened. But the point of the game (or one of the points) is unreliable narration, you are not supposed to get any definitive answers, but you are given enough clues to figure out what happened. Or make a pretty good guess anyway.
I'm sure it's a good game, but winning game of the year. Come on, really. Up against horizon zero dawn and won, yeah I don't think so. Nothing against this game, but still.
I usually don't like short games, but I adored this game so much I don't even care.
Ikr
This is an experience, not a game, and it's amazing.
a boring experience that has the ending ruin both possible stories
@@tsucube4377 Stop crying.
I wish more authors and developers could get together and tell stories like this.
I cried at the end of this game. it was so heart touching

Gregory was the one that got me. I felt empty after playing his story.
I normally don't like "Walking simulators", but this had me at "from the makers of The Unfinished Swan." That game was brilliant.
No joke i just finnished this game and dang feels sad man
ps plus huh.. this game made me and my girlfriend cry

Looks like a game I'd like. As you say, a nice break from marathon gaming sessions. Will definitely check it out.
i watched a playthrough on twitch the other day, everyone was in tears by the end of it
jon emery minx?
I still think about this game often just because of how good it is
This is less of a game, more of an interactive film. Its beatiful.
I've just played this as a break from Witcher 3 and it was such a beautiful experience and incredibly emotive.
What a phenonimal experience. Its a gem, a story, a movie and a pop up book all in one
Yup, it's pretty damn brilliant.
I don't cry during video games, cried at the end of this though. Masterpiece.
I played that game it tucked at my heart made me cry good at it wish they would have made a sequal to it
When I was going back through some gameplays I realized that there were Heath flowers outside of the house. These downward facing flowers represent solitude. I think I was the only one who really noticed it though...

Edith left behind the journal for her son...?
Hence:
^This is What Remains of Edith Finch.
____________
Better than an ear I guess ;)
This is what u call a review. Thank you
Are there any warrior Magicians?
I loved everybody's gone to the rapture, so definitely checking this one out
Peter Tel Go get it. Like now. I love Ethan Carter beyond reason, Gone Home was absolutely brilliant, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture was great... But this, Edith Finch, is something extraordinary.

I thought Firewatch was a total bore. Hated that game. But then I don't like most Adventure Games. (The oldschool term for Walking Simulator)
Super glad I picked up this game.
This was a game I could have easily passed by on store shelves but I’m so happy that PS+ had it free because I absolutely loved it!
I absolutely hate these types of games... that being said, I loved this game. It’s unlike anything I’ve played before. I didn’t know whether to be happy or sad but just questioning everything I’ve seen. 10/10
Oh nice short and sweet, just what I need after a 70 hour grind in XCOM2.
This and Serious Sam are my two favourite games.
it's scary how I can relate to Lewis
What does Ben mean when he says: FPI? I haven't heard that before.
Ben's narration is excellent!
FPI = First Person Interactive
is this game worth playing a second time once you finish it?

i'm still on the fence about it, normally i love the short story games like journey and the unfinished swan was okay but i didn't like gone home
Robert Thornton if you enjoy a good story and creative gameplay then get this game. It's absolutely beautiful
my favorite game this year i love it.
@Professor X I always assumed she died from what she ate (I.e. The toothpaste for one) and she was hallucinating.
She was

Beautiful and sad.
I really want this but I'll probably wait for a sale
*Spolier alert* if one person from each generation survives, and Edith died, does that mean Milton is alive?
Can anyone help me understand Mollys death? I am waaaaaay too dumb to get it. Was a murderer the "monster"? Was her hunger the "monster"? Was there an actual monster? Something else? I love that section sooo much, so many chills at the end, yet I do not understand it

It was poisoning from the toothpaste and the hollyberries, causing hallucinations and inevitably her death.

Have you ever actually ridden on a swing before? 😅💖👍
Happy to see you managed it in the game anyway 😁 I just found that really really amusing 😉
Have a nice day ^_^
Just finished and crying like a bitch.
I personally thought the causes of death were hilarious.
I like whatculture gaming video
Do you not know how to swing on a swing or something?
Good story, good game.
What song is being used in this???
Daniel Crowley I'm pretty sure that's the song from the game. You can probably buy the soundtrack, most walking sims have that feature

I didn’t like it but I’m going to replay it again. Maybe I will change my mind.
Nice
just finished this today... oh boy. it was great but a doozy all at the same time.
Can you play as a boy/man?
No. You play as Edith, as in the titular Edith of What Remains of Edith FInch.
My nana Jeb
Nice spoilers 👌🏼
She's 17
I'm sure it's a good game, but winning game of the year. Come on, really. Up against horizon zero dawn and won, yeah I don't think so. Nothing against this game, but still.
meu deus , nenhum BR!!!
Notification SQUAAAAAAD!
This isn't a review; it's just a torrent of spoilers. Way to ruin the game for everybody.
ami I seriously alone in think this game is hot garbage
Yes. You are alone
Yep
fourth
This review is allll spoilers. Tffff
Spoiler much?
I pre ordered the game but haven't played it yet.how filthy were those spoilers?
Trust me this spoiled nothing of the game unless you count the very small fraction of gameplay shown of Molly's journal a spoiler.
I preferred the Commodore 64 version.... WHAT?!?!!
6th #notificationsquad where u at?
is it really good .. ? or same bullshit like 'life is strange' ?
One of the best games I’ve ever played hands down. Unbelievably creative.
I haven't even played the game and I don't know if I even will get to. But I already know that this is one of my favourite games EVER. 💕😭
It's free to PS4 plus members this month
