The one name that springs to mind whenever I hear Mullingar mentioned & that is THE ONE & ONLY JOE DOLAN.... A TRUE LEGEND... oh how we miss him such a wonderful man.... RIP Joe loved forever xxx♡♡♡♡♡
Did my first overseas trip from Australia to Ireland earlier this year with friends of my parents who have a house in Gaybrook. Stayed with them in a beautiful home and spent a fair bit of time in Mullingar in between traveling all around Ireland. Out of all the places I stayed, I loved this town the most. Best nightlife I have ever experienced, local lads and lasses treated me like one of their own and took me on a few pub crawls (got the Mullingar hangovers to prove it) and always got a great vibe from locals. Definitely my first port of call when I return to Ireland next year with friends of mine. But its not all pubs and the craic, there are nice places to see, my fav was Belvedere House and Loch Enell and Lilliput (had no idea of Mullingar's connection to Jonathan Swift and Gullivers Travels) Keep up the great name!
I have ever been interestred in Mullingar. Even I never was there I like this town. Today I was there for the first time. Hope visit you one day. Great job!
Thank you, sir. Mullingar was a stop-off point for my family on the trip from Dublin to Mayo . Too many years ago to think of! My mother insisted that we attend Mass at the RC church there before proceeding on the arduous trip😅. Sadly I did not see the church in your video. I remember the old farmers were congregated in the church vestibule, “listening” to the Mass - they would not be caught dead in the church proper! Their version of devout😂
My home town! I was born in Mullingar Regional Hospital and I go to Loreto. I met met Niall in Penney's before he was famous and saw him in subway the odd time.
I am partly here for Niall but the main reason is because my family all live in Mullingar and Dublin so I have always been interested in Ireland since I was 8 ( around 2007 ) it's my dream place to travel to.
Spent 3 months in Mullingar in the summer of 1996, just roaming and down on my luck. Did some work for Noel Dunne, drank in the Yukon, met good people and bad, won't forget it.
Very nice! wondering how many people from here moved to Sonora Mexico since I have family that are half Irish and Mexican! so many people from Sonora Mexico look Irish! very interesting mix wish I could visit one day!
I found the lack of description disappointing. You said river on your left as you approached the traffic lights by the railway station ( which you failed to mention ). It was in fact The Grand canal, one of the two canals which connect to the waterway systems of Ireland. There are many fine places of interest eg. The cathedral, the numerous hotels, the statue of Joe Dolan (Mullingar being his birth place). The dog track which the town was famous for, just to mention but a few of the points of I suppose historical interest.
I'm currently new here in mullingar. And I love the calmness,...rent are not that expensive here in mullingar..hope to find somejobs and I'm good to go😊I'm still very much single incase any single lady in the house...

I'm afraid not Kancharee. The population is only approx 20,000 and is therefore not big enough to warrant public transport. So bring a good pair of walking boots!
