I love this - I saw her read this story shortly after she wrote it when she visited my university in Chicago. It was a little different then but had the same sultry, silly tone. I have always remembered when she said "He wore a white t-shirt under his dress shirts because he is a gentleman". I always wear white t-shirts under my dress shirts because of this line and I want to be a gentleman like Mr. Rogers. Thank you, Roxane.
The book Hunger reminds me one of the past version of myself, my mother has told me that I couldn’t live in my sad memory, but memory is flowing. I used to take a long walk when I feel numb or embarrassment about myself, I think girls in the city where I live, not the now me, the then me, they were not entitled to feel pain, which is too luxurious, belongs to people with high dignity, I think the writer would know what I am now describing. The funny thing is, among the many neighbors in the community, I would force some of them watch that boring process of me taking walks, they would stare at me suddenly went out saying nothing, when I came home, then would get another wave of confusion that kind of thing. I believe they took some time to get used to my behaviors, yeah I think maybe some of them really don’t like me to hustle them to get move, you see hah, aged community,
You don’t need to exercise to lose weight. Just stop eating so much fat. She’s interested, but not committed. Crazy how this gets elevated onto a stage.
Shocker an ignorant fatphobic comment on a woman who calls out how our world has a problem with treating people like they are people no matter what color, shape or size they are.🙄
She's such an incredible writer!

Calm down, it's just a fictional story.

This is not why she is on stage. Why don't you actually read her books
I’m really pleased to witness her. Why don’t you just go play Call of Duty and let the rest of us be?
