''Took me a while to figure the 808 pattern out'' Its kinda cool to know even the big producers still have to play around with a vibe for some time to get the drums right. It doesn't always just come to them right away. Figuring out the right bounce to a loop is a little puzzler hobby of mine.

The main reason I think they might still be using FL 11 is the old Hip Hop template. I usually use empty with 4 sends, but I remember the old hip hop template was fire, because it had automatically setup a sidechain to your kick drum which makes your kick drum pop out of the mix more. Instead of upgrading to newer versions which no longer had this template, they might have just chosen to stick to older versions of FL.
Cool I never heard of that one but I did hear that the old FL already had a limiter with increased gain on it unlike the current default which started a myth that the older FL just sounded harder cause nobody actually checked the settings on the limiter
Key point is if more things are needed they can be added after. As a producer I find myself getting stressed by how fleshed out and complex the beats on my favorite songs are, but most of that happens in post production. Sometimes all u need is a basic vibe and framework to grab an artists attention.
LETS GOOOOO the moment i been waiting for, MAFIA is arguably one of the best Travis Scott songs of all time, the beat, the vocals, the mix, the uniqueness of it, 10/10

If you listen to a lot of trap artists you'll actually realize the drum pattern is pretty unorthodox for the genre. It's not genre-bending, especially since the instrumentation and kit is pretty standard but the 808s land on unexpected accents. You can't name another trap song with the same 'kick' movement, and that's unusual enough
Not a fan of this beat really, it sounds like any other sample where the beat is thrown on top of it. But it opens a question to me: Do dope producers sometimes have mid beats and can some mid beats become popular ?
This is a good beat. Just because it's simple doesn't mean it's bad, this is exactly the type of beats artists are looking for. Especially someone like Travis who knows production & will do his own thing on it.
Rappers do like when there isn’t too much going on sonically. Nick Mira says “when I feel something’s missing it’s usually the artists voice”, and he’s right.
You judge art on the reason it's being made. Some people will play you a beat that's just to impress you but is hard to make into a song. Another person will play a beat that's meant to have a song over it. They are not the same thing. Just cause a beat doesn't sound great on it's own doesn't mean it won't sound great as a song and vice versa
