@@uFixTek I've had this laptop for about 6 years now and I've upgraded the very easiest parts I could, replaced thermal paste, and cleaned it regularly and properly. Oh boy. Used this for replacing the keyboard on the GL504 as it's constructed about the same. Had no idea they used plastic rivots 'til I got down to that plate. My GL504 has been a nightmare. GPU fan failed completely within the first 9 months, and it took 4 trips to their repair department before they replaced the system altogether. A CPU fan died in the replacement system shortly after the warranty ran out, so I replaced that. Now, the GPU fan will randomly spin up to maximum (6400 RPM) without a way to control it and I've lost functionality of some keys. It's not sold anymore, but wow this model had problems.

Hey there, would you be able to make a video on how to replace the keyboard for the ASUS ROG Strix GL703VD? My down arrow broke off of the bracket. I may be able to just replace the single key, however I might end up replacing the entire keyboard at some point since the cheapest option is purchasing an entire new backlit keyboard (rather than purchasing one single key for $10 I can have an entire replacement set for around $50). It would help me out so much! Thanks for your videos, these have been very helpful.
Thank you for the feedback and your support to the channel by SUB :P regarding your question: i will defiantly make a note to make a video for that, BUT the steps and how to change it its the same as this one. i will try to get my hands on one to make a video.
Well, the crucial part of this video is missing and without it, it's the highest level of BS, yet, it still helped me fix my son's laptop. The crucial part, that he conveniently skips over, is the re-mounting of the keyboard. As the case is made of ABS he suggests melting an 'ABS rod', available from hardware stores, with your soldering iron, drip the molten plastic on the posts, and he says it will be good as new. It won't be. The 'rod' he speaks of is most likely ABS filament for 3D printers. It's really cheap and you can get it at many stores. However, the temperature range between melting and burning ABS is tight, and unless you have a soldering iron with controlled temperature you will burn it. Even then, the molten ABS will not stick to the solid one, unless the solid one is preheated to between 105C and 110C. (Look up the necessary bed temperature used by 3D printers for ABS). So don't even try. Use J-B WELD High Strength Plastic Bonder. It is formulated to work with ABS. You will have to make sure you clamp the keyboard and the ABS housing tight together, so they don't move relative to each other. I used skewer sticks underneath, between the rows of keys, and used small pieces of wood as levers and small wooden blocks as supports with carpenter clamps to press and hold them together.
Awesome idea, good options and thank you for the feedback, this video is an old video, on the new videos i have mentioned using the ABS filament for 3D printers, or the best and free ABS plastic is to rip a key (space bar) from the old keyboard and use it to melt on the plate, and i use a soldering iron and set to 380C but once you start melting the plastic as you say i push down the new plastic with soldering iron to the old one so it mixes, it works like a charm all the time, i had zero issue with my clients and i do replace a lot of mesh keyboards weekly, just use the space bar from bad keyboard. but again as you mentioned if people have time and know how to mix glue and wont make a mess sure thing glue that, but if in the future you want to replace the keyboard... well good luck removing the glue :P again much appreciate the feedback. here is a video i made a very quick run down of the how to : th-cam.com/video/m3zuNBASGCY/w-d-xo.html here is another video newer that i show the steps check @16:30 th-cam.com/video/xsg-Zn80hZQ/w-d-xo.html
@@uFixTek Oh, OK, I have searched for the model number of the laptop and this came up, so I was not aware of your newer videos. I tried to melt ABS and fuse it onto the posts but my soldering iron has high and low settings only, so I could not control the temperature and although they looked OK the new heads I made popped off way too easily. Cured epoxy can be removed, however most likely you would have to use solvents as well and not just chisel it off. I'm sorry if my review sounded too negative, I got suspicious something was amiss because you skipped the remounting steps in the video. Having said that, your video still saved us a lot of time and money. Thank you!

yes when removing it the black paper or the old keyboard doesn't matter how it comes out as long as you remove it, just place the new keyboard without damaging the black protection. and if you can't use the space bar from old keyboard get a bit of 3d printer filament (PETG)
What should we do if our rubber cup of keyboard is broken and glued part of rubber is also broken? When I replaced the rubber cup my key is not working anymore, should I glue the rubber cup to make the key working again?
@@uFixTek I am talking about silicone rubber that acts like a spring but when i replaced the rubber dome the key is not working as the top layer of membrane is not working Can you clarify what can be done: rubber cup replaced, old one is broken imgur.com/gallery/bfPuMeF
okay before anything i need to know if you remove the rubber dome, and when you press or touch with your finger tip the key does work and shows the letter on the txt file, if so then your membrane is fine, and then you can just replace the rubber dome, but your rubber dome looks fine in the on that shot. you will need to place a very small amount of glue on the outer shell and place it in the center and let it dry for few hours and it should work fine, we do repair then often, but make sure your membrane is working and responding to touch.
so you need to find a old none working keyboard and try to remove the cup prom them and hope to have the same height, and place it in there, else you will need to replace the keyboard :( or use external keyboard :(

okay 1st of all dont ever listen to asus or hp or any tech support they dont know SH***T. there is an issue with windows 10 updates and chip xg2, but there is a solution, you need to install windows 10 without the internet connection and use a 2nd computer to download and follow the steps: Here's a few steps to how you can get it working: 1. DOWNLOAD and INSTALL the latest Thunderbolt 3 firmware from the XG Station 2 support page. 2. DOWNLOAD and INSTALL the Nvidia Driver provided on the XG Station 2 support page. 3. DOWNLOAD and INSTALL the ROG XG Station Hot Plug tool from the XG Station 2 support page. IMPORTANT NOTE: Download these drivers using a second computer, and make sure your laptop is never connected to the internet, this will cause Windows10 to automatically update the driver. Install these programs while your laptop remains offline. 4. A few restarts, and everything should be in working order. It is now safe to connect to the internet. The GL502VM does fully support Thunderbolt 3 with 40Gbps

regarding your question: use any soldering iron and a plastic, from old keyboard,
amzn.to/2ZHQFWd
What is the tool you use to scrape the plastic off and what plastic did you use to soldier back on to the keyboard?
its called "solder ball scraper"
i only found it in my reballing kit.

regarding plastic , the best and easy choice is rip off the space bar from your none working keyboard and use that to melt back to patch up. its the same type of plastic.
Thank you for the feedback and your support to the channel by SUB :P
regarding your question: i will defiantly make a note to make a video for that, BUT the steps and how to change it its the same as this one. i will try to get my hands on one to make a video.
Awesome idea, good options and thank you for the feedback, this video is an old video, on the new videos i have mentioned using the ABS filament for 3D printers, or the best and free ABS plastic is to rip a key (space bar) from the old keyboard and use it to melt on the plate, and i use a soldering iron and set to 380C but once you start melting the plastic as you say i push down the new plastic with soldering iron to the old one so it mixes, it works like a charm all the time, i had zero issue with my clients and i do replace a lot of mesh keyboards weekly, just use the space bar from bad keyboard. but again as you mentioned if people have time and know how to mix glue and wont make a mess sure thing glue that, but if in the future you want to replace the keyboard... well good luck removing the glue :P
again much appreciate the feedback.
here is a video i made a very quick run down of the how to :

Thank you!
its my pleasure, its okay my friend. my purpose here is to help as much as i can for anyone in need, i try to stay on top of the comments and help out, i have my repair shop for over 18 years and giving back and help people its a good option :) im trying to keep all the repair and servicing on the DIY level so people can do it at home and save money.

I have a Asus ROG Strix Scar GL703GE and I have been unable to find any video for it that will show me how to replace my laptop in it. As a fact it was stated in one video that showed how to tear it down that the keyboard could not be replaced because it was " pressed in" but from the video it looks similarly done as this was was. So could I use the same process?

@@uFixTek the black paper protection came off in shreds. Is there a way i can replace it? Also. I read or watched recently suggestion of using the space key to help sauder back in place. but when I try this the results are the connection is brittle.. and will not keep it in place. Suggestions please.
yes when removing it the black paper or the old keyboard doesn't matter how it comes out as long as you remove it, just place the new keyboard without damaging the black protection. and if you can't use the space bar from old keyboard get a bit of 3d printer filament (PETG)

What should we do if our rubber cup of keyboard is broken and glued part of rubber is also broken?
When I replaced the rubber cup my key is not working anymore, should I glue the rubber cup to make the key working again?
by "rubber cup" what you mean? upload some pictures imgur.com/
and let me me see what you talking about.
@@uFixTek I am talking about silicone rubber that acts like a spring but when i replaced the rubber dome the key is not working as the top layer of membrane is not working
Can you clarify what can be done: rubber cup replaced, old one is broken imgur.com/gallery/bfPuMeF
okay before anything i need to know if you remove the rubber dome, and when you press or touch with your finger tip the key does work and shows the letter on the txt file, if so then your membrane is fine, and then you can just replace the rubber dome, but your rubber dome looks fine in the on that shot. you will need to place a very small amount of glue on the outer shell and place it in the center and let it dry for few hours and it should work fine, we do repair then often, but make sure your membrane is working and responding to touch.
uFixTek Unfortunately, Membrane is not responding to touch but beneath that layer the touch responds.
so you need to find a old none working keyboard and try to remove the cup prom them and hope to have the same height, and place it in there, else you will need to replace the keyboard :( or use external keyboard :(
I have problem with the rgb keyboard can you show me where it is in the mainboard?

Hey i have asus rog strix gl502vmk, so its tunderbolt v2 or v3 ? 20gbs or 40gbs ?
thank you for the feedback and support to the channel, regarding your question , the asus rog strix gl502vmk used Thunderbolt 3 via USB Type-C (40 Gbps)
but remember your components SSD and or the devices must support TB3 40Gps in order to get 40speed.
good luck
@@uFixTek hey thanks for replay, asus support says its 20gbs and my manual says its usb c gen 2 10gbs and you saying its thunderbolt 40gbs , how to check by myself on laptop?
okay 1st of all dont ever listen to asus or hp or any tech support they dont know SH***T.
there is an issue with windows 10 updates and chip xg2, but there is a solution, you need to install windows 10 without the internet connection and use a 2nd computer to download and follow the steps:
Here's a few steps to how you can get it working:
@@uFixTek thanks i will try , the main thing why im looking to know exactly speed, i want to buy ultrastudio monitor 3g (they have with tb2 or with tb3 versions)
I want to connect my monitor thru this adapter to ger better colors
So before spending money i want to know if it gonna work

What about using super glue instead of soldering?
it wont even last two day
can anybody give me a backup of the esupport folder of this laptop? I wiped my computer and nothing works now :(
go to www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows10
and download the windows on your usb drive and install fresh if you wiped out your computer.
why did you not put any footage of replacing the plastic rivets, should cover the whole process, can you not just put a small drip of fast drying super glue on it and hold it there?
because i did that on the other table and it just simple process you hold the keyboard and using a hot metal or soldering station melt the plastic and place it i will do a short demo of that in the next two days.
YOUR COULD PLEASE A SUS ROG Strix g731gu Keyboard removal, disassembly guide PLEASE

Welp, my battery won't come off so easily,so the battery connector was ripped off from the mother board :(
can you provide some pictures of the damage or anything?
@@uFixTek not now, but there is 5 'pins' and another 2 that hold the connector ,so the connector is ripped off from the motherboard,2 of the connectors on the motherboard have the pads from the black cable ,I think it's fixable ,but a lenz is definitely needed
if the pads are ripped dont worry you will need a lens and a soldering iron and some flux and abit of cable, its reparable but again i need to see a closed up picture to be able to assist.

give me few hours and i will Photoshop over and send you info back.
