American Black Metal overlords WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM return with a new EP, Crypt of Ancestral Knowledge. The EP will be released on September 29th and features four new tracks spanning the scope of WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM's cinematic black metal and dark acoustic folk, as well as two atmospheric industrial tracks that take the band into darker sonic territories.

Wolves in the Throne Room is such an incredible band. All of your albums are very emotional and thought provoking. I wish I could sit at a Wolves concert and just listen and cry and be alone amongst a crowd. This is the true definition of meditation

Haven't kept up with them for about 10 years but excited to see them tomorrow. That said I find the kick to nearly ruin this track (and Twin Mouthed Spring... haven't heard the rest of the EP, but imagine it's the same case). The songwriting and vocals are pretty spot on though.
I don't know... Not the biggest fan of the keyboard being so dominant in the foreground in many parts.

I think the keyboard sets them apart from other bands. While the drums kind of bring them back in.

@@xPumaFangxAlthough I do love the keyboards, you can't really say it sets them apart from other bands... because there are tens of thousands of keyboard using Black Metal bands haha.
I swear the vast majority of their fan base never heard anything in Black metal outside of maybe Gorgoroth or Emperor at best.
Theirs nothing wrong with this, but thinking it sticks out from thousands of other bands is just laughable.
Eh, I think WITTR have their own unique sound and are especially nothing like Gorgoroth & Emperor. They stick out because they do it better than many others
This music would sound so much better with a more low end death metal vocalist.The vocals just sound out of place to me personally.A brutal death metal vox with some occasional high end range would be great with this.

Weird take. It’s atmospheric black metal bro, it’s not about low gutturals. It’s about emotional and torturous shrieks. They’ve been around for 20 years, don’t think they’re gonna change that up 🤷♂️ anyway, this song is phenomenal, the entire EP is. Can’t wait to see them live in a few days! One of my fav all time bands! 🔥🤘

@@metal_monocle7334 LOL call it what ever edgy sub genre they call it these days I still think it could use some real DM vocals.Personally shocked black metal is still a thing after this much time.Since I started listening to DM when it came out in the 80s guess I just can't wrap my head around this emo death metal singing.
@@sophiabranam6875 Did someone drop you on the floor recently? Shrieking vocals have been a stable in black metal since the late 80's. And atmo-black isn't exactly a "new edgy sub genre", it's been a thing since Burzum. Jesus Christ....
