This is massively inspiring to me. I grew up in Washington but moved to England 15 years ago. You captured the feel of hiking high in the misty Washington hills. I can feel the cool air on me. I miss it. Thank you.
I'm from West Virginia and can confirm we have MANY sensitives/occultists/magicians/ rambling these hills. My mom used to drill me ESP techniques by visualizing playing cards. You drive down some of these country roads and see the old rotting houses and you can feel the otherworldly energy just lingering over them like a fog. Seems like every other guy wears a juju bag and every other girl does tarot, and the more serious ones get out in the woods and forage for hoodoo ingredients. I even knew an Afrocentric new religious movement from Burkina Faso that set up a mystery school. Had branches on NY, Chicago, LA, Atlanta... and Charleston WV. Seems like ones the odd man out right? Being Afrocentric in thought they usually set up in cities with high black populations and WV is like 98% white. Well they came here because like the Nile, the New River is one of the tiny handful of rivers that flows northward, and when they were scouting here the spirits in the river told them to come and find initiates among us hillfolk. I think part of it is growing up poor and spending a lot more time in nature keeps us closer to the spiritual realm. Life can be a struggle here Home is its own magic.
I saw them on stage in 2020 and it was one of the best experiences of my life! I can't wait to get my copy of the new album and see them on stage again!
With this album, WITTR definitely cemented themselves as being my favourite black metal band. The kinda music that makes me want to wander through a forest up in the British Columbia mountains while a light misty rain falls and fog obscures the tops of the trees and mountains. Absolutely beautiful stuff. I have yet to compile my list of favourite 2021 albums but this one is top 3 for sure, if not #1.
This track is the perfect mix of polished and raw that WITTR has come to represent. Can't wait to blast the new album and feel the arcana surge through my veins.
Enthroned in our ancient mountain halls Incantations in the night Take refuge within our walls Travel past the borders of men Drink the rain Pass the gates Of our shadow moon kingdom Gaze upon our altars Deep under the earth Where sun has never shown Throne of soil, crown of stone Eternal sleep with the earth Primordial grave Chamber of darkness Hair turns to mycelium Blood to sap Flesh to ore Bone to quartz Eyes to gold
The juxtaposition of "cvlt, night time band footage" and "beautiful woodland scenery in full HD and sunlight" is what makes this video phenomenal. It's nice to see a healthy, bright, beautiful forest in Spring and Summer for once, rather than a dreary European winter scene with ravens and snow and some guy getting his face scratched by bare branches! Can't wait for another Wolves album!!!
The opening riff and the overall atmosphere brought me back to the time when I listened for the first time to "Anthem to the welkin at dusk"'(Emperor). In particular the song "The loss and the curse of reverence". You definitely nailed it here, Wolves in the throne room.
That rhythm at 1:50 is what we’re here for. Whole track sounds great. Excellent cycling back to older styles, carrying some new techniques through with it. Video is nice too - that solo is performed exactly where it should be. Thank you. Enjoyed that detail very much.
I first came across Black Metal at the tender age of 17 listening to the likes of Mayhem Dimmu Borgir and Emperor and completely mesmerised by the sound, I then stopped listening to it for at least a good 10 years. In 2009 a friend of mine gave me a list of bands, and one band stood out Wolves in the Throne Room. I Thought " I must check them out" and bought Black Cascade and from then on I have bought every single studio album you guys have done. Thanks for re kindling my love for Black Metal. And this new track sounds Brilliant👍
Wow. Wolves in the Throne Room did it again! A great track. Just listen to the drums: it actually sounds like a person drummer and not a loop done on a computer like so many other bands. You guys are bringing new life to black metal.
Absolute top grade BM! Unfortunatelly, the guy who introduced your music to me is dead :( But I keep listening to you and your art reminds me on him! Thank you!
Panopticon, Paysage d'Hiver, Spectral Lore, Esoctrilihum, Olhava, Elderwind, Mare Cognitum, and now this. 2022 is gonna suck for atmoblack because all my favorite bands are releasing albums this year.
man, this was majestic and love that you've kept it under 6 minutes, so much going on in the song but all so masterfully put together, love wittr to death.
Great music 🎶 I would really like to understand what your staying. It’s better if I know the lyrics and I do like the evocative ways. The video is good with trees and rushing waters.
Once again the masters/creator's of Cascadia black metal redefine themselves. This feels fresh and relevant. I have loved every album and the love shows are among some of the best shows I've been to. Most memorable was getting to see them play the Two Hunters music in the forrest outside of Olympia WA. I also saw them play as Teen Cthulhu. That band was the genesis for this one.
Thank you for the support everyone ⚡️🐲⚡️
This is something truly amazing and special. The old ones are back. From a fellow Northwesterner, thank you, guys, so much.
Sick song........If Amon Amarth did Black Metal hah
The epitome of your art. Ya’ll truly at your apex. The perfect balance of the four elements
Kings
This album is a masterpiece, so thank you!
Atmospheric black metal with a guitar solo?! I never thought I'd live to see the day.
Drudkh and Nokturnal Mortum do some good solos
Then you haven’t listened to much black metal then
I THINK GRIMA ALREADY DID THIS ADDED ACCORDIAN TOO!
Blut aus nord has some good ones.

Cascadia is the most black metal landscapr in America
Have you been to the Lake District? It's not the same but it's as close as we get really.
I feel like fishing, camping, and foraging for shrooms all of a sudden
Dude if your ever in Perth Western Australia then thats what we'll do hahahah

This songs a shortcut....
I live in southern USA and I can tell you from experience you get strange looks fishing and listening to this type of music. 🤘
The ending, when the tempo slows and the solo hits...phenomenal
I'm not in the Pacific Northwest but in Appalachia and can confirm the magical power of mountains.
Mountains, rocks and forests have great charm everywhere in the world. Someones looking for spiritual power in the church, me in nature.

Appalachia here too
PNW here love the mountains live on one on a lake.

Every song I've heard by Wolves has been magical. Thrice Woven was amazing, fingers crossed this album will be, too.

Same. I was a big Burzum fan, but after discovering WITTR my musical tastes have changed drastically.
@@cat_loaf943 Burzum was the biggest inspiration for WITTR.
There's nothing quite like those BC mountains and forests :)

The most majestic solo in front of a waterall! What a goddamned champion!
Beautiful pictures calling the longing of wildness.
Good to see you are back. For some reason I thought you guys split up.

Magnificent kind of music for soul salvation. Wolves never let us down. Pioneers for this Black metal style.

Welcome back Brothers, the Old Ones are Smiling again.
Song of the year. Can't stop listening.
Amazing music speaks to my black heart. Amazing, most beautiful surroundings. Ancient forests. As it should be. Where wolves can live free!

Got my copy yesterday ! Fantastic album, will be in my top 3 this year for sure ! Hails from France/ Japan.
Just stumbled on this band, the metal gods blessed us! Amazing
Still in love with that floor tom-to-china accent at 0:58. Killer idea and such effective placement.
One of the best bands of black metal, original and very professional.
time-proven & absolutely dominating peak-song of the full-length
This is mesmerizing!
What a beautiful song and majestic scenery. Thanks wolves 🐺
Daammmnnnn. They have definitely found their sound with this track.
Absolutely beautiful riffs. Another masterpiece.
Fucking YES at soloing in front of a waterfall!! EPIC
