I don’t think the 488 GTB is faster. I mean, it done a 10.3 secs trapping 137mph run in 2016, and DragTimes posted it on his website

But there’s runs proving it was already running quicker times than in the video and acceleration data online to show that the 488 GTB was as quick as claimed by Ferrari, and also quicker than the Lamborghini. There’s videos that show the Ferrari beating the Lamborghini from long ago. It was only here that it lost, and with a trap speed that is the same as the 458 Italia.

@@DonLee1980 It doesn't pay to jump. It pays to launch your car so that right when the light is green, the car is at the instant of rolling out. Doesn't matter whatever you're doing in your car, only thing that matters is when the wheel breaks the beam.

Reaction time does not affect the 1/4 mile times. 488 is faster anyway, especially from a roll

the same thing with the 458's, the first ones were slower. the later "base" models ( not the speciale ) were faster. they update the car every year i guess. The mclaren did the same thing with the mp4-12c , they improved it immediately.

Lol @ driver mod. These cars have so much automation that there is no driver mod. Shift at the right RPM and lift your foot off the brake, anyone can do it and run a similar time to what Brooks does.

Types of fuel, tires matter too. Some drivers also don’t go full throttle. In DragTimes previous video, the 488 kept letting off before the finish.

How many runs can the tesla do before it overheats or battery runs out? Just curious.
Cyberamp 2-3% battery used per run. No issues with overheating. I’ve run mine a half dozen times back to back w no issue.

Maybe I don't understand when to start from the light tree. Isn't it when the light turns green? It seems like every time the Lambo started before the green light.
From my limited time at a dragstrip you usually start on the 2nd yellow, the one before green light. That's what I learned at least.
David Dunn Wrong. Had that happened he would have thrown a red light and he didn't. This video just shows that a dig race is not just between two cars -- rather it is between two cars AND two drivers. Either the car OR driver can win or lose the drag.
Please post a unlocked ZR1 race when you can. The torque numbers are unreal.

It depends on the car. Some cars will definitely red light if you go on the last yellow.
But what does it matter? They're not comparing their own skill, they're comparing the cars. And the slips show the 488 was quicker in both runs.

The only thing keeping the lambo ahead is the AWD. That's the only thing that saves lambo. The 488 has always been faster but naturally it will always struggle for grip more than lambo from standing start because Ferrari has RWD. Without the AWD lambos would never even stand a chance against Ferraris, fact.
Huracan is naturally aspirated....but 488 is twin turboed

NameSchema100 oh yes I'm sure they're not good cars.. these new cars get praised by critics and sell thousands of cars, but I'm sure because a guy on TH-cam said, the older cars are better.. and speed matters massively. you can win lots of races, a 10 sec car is extremely quick. Also with the extra power and electronics you can do things like drift way easier. The only thing the older cars are better at is sound, but you can easily straight pipe a new car and fix that problem. And you can easily tune them too and add another 100hp and win even more races. I'd take a new car any day over an older one, except an F40 of course but we are talking the regular production cars here

I own a 2018 Ferrari 488 Spider and this could have been a lot faster. The first race you jumped the start before it was even green. The Ferrari diver needs more practice on his reaction time and I know he will win. I’ve faced many hurricanes and I’ve won a lot but also lost a lot. It mostly depends on the reaction time.

Yeah the 488 is not a bad car. It's still very quick. It just doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the 458.
Ferrari should have put a KERS hybrid system in the 488 similar to what the LaFerrari has. Keep that 4.5L 9.000rpm V8 with its glorious sound and boost the low rpm torque with the relatively light KERS system.

Ferrari is announcing the f8's " big brother " next month. Rumours say it has 900hp plus. Will be a hybrid based on the f8 of course.
900hp plus doesn't seem unrealistic, a 200hp hybrid engine is reasonable. And due to the hybrid, they can add bigger turbos as they don't have to worry about lag. 2 birds one stone. Hopefully tuners are able to figure out how to tune them too.

Vishwas Reddy what are you on about? The Ferrari is faster but this is drag racing 90% of the race is the start. We all saw the 488 catching at the end. And believe me 488 traps 132-133 and a 720s traps 140mph+ no form of the 488 can hang with a 720s not from a dig or a roll.

I want to see a 992 Carrera S. Apparently Porsche is really under-stating the 0-60 times and I haven't found a real 1/4 mile result, yet. With a light tune, it should be almost as fast as these cars at 1/3rd the price.

No. McLaren made the MP4-12C to compete with the 458 Italia. Therefore it means the successors would compete, and that is the 650S and 488 GTB. As track versions, the 488 Pista should’ve been competing with the 675LT, but McLaren release cars too quick so the 675LT would now be too old even though they are the same generation. The next-gen after that are the successors of the 650S and 488 GTB, and that is the 720S and F8 Tributo respectively.
Ferrari didn’t make the 488 Pista to compete with the 720S, Ferrari have always released track versions to their cars regardless, even before McLaren was back to doing supercars.

You can't ask for more from Lamborghini for now until their hybrid cars come out. The first one will be the Aventador's replacement which should be 2021 I believe. In the meantime, you should enjoy the engine sound and the overall more visceral experience in driving a naturally aspirated Lambo.

Imagine McLaren just stick an electric motor on the front axle of a 600LT like car. Were 6 years on from P1. In a much lighter package (it added 180 kg) , much more can be achieved now. And adding a driven axle really is worth it. Compare a RWD Tesla to an AWD one.
Don't hold your breath on that Huracan successor bc in case you haven't noticed they haven't even made a true successor to the Aventador yet.
Having owned a 2018 R8 V10+ and now a 2018 488GTB, I can categorically say the Ferrari is significantly faster, period. Less weight, more power and loads more torque. Unless it's very wet, the Huracan is behind. The 'ring lap times support this, 7 seconds slower is a loooooong time in motor sport.
