Ugh, I really want Vellum. I formatted my first paperback on Word and it was miserable. I think I'm going to be stuck using Word again for Book 2 but hoping next year to upgrade to something like Vellum.

Ahhh I love Vellum, it’s a lifesaver. Trying to format in Word was torture, mad respect to anyone who does it lol. I just love hearing all this, especially what you have to say to those who look down on self-publishing. I love how confident and comfortable you are, it’s so inspiring. Wow, I am astonished that you already know that far out. I have a rough plan for a few years out but it shifts a bit as I see the reactions to different books or start to experience burnout on a certain series.
A lot of friends are moving from Photoshop to the free version GIMP. And I wish Vellum was available on PC. I know you can use Apple Online and such but our internet is terrible and it just seems like a hassle when I have a system that works well enough.
FYI, your end card is empty. Maybe just a glitch on my end?
I think it helps that many of the books are series we’re trying to finish. We’ve stopped gauging our releases on how first books do because once a series is complete, it’s amazing for backlist and easier to market it. Finishing series is so important for us because that’s when they become major money makers.
And oh man, that sucks about having crappy internet. I understand how mac in the cloud would be impossible to use without good service. I had a friend who bought a used MacBook Air for a couple hundred bucks just to format.

Thank you for sharing the info. Need to train myself to keep to a schedule. I write comics but the collaborative process takes a long time. I think I’d like to focus on prose. Do you have any suggestions for adapting comic script writing to prose. In the past I’ve struggled with filling out the story. Thank you!
I’ve never tried to take something that’s in short form like that and expand it. I’d probably start with writing down the story structure of the comic in bullet point form, and try to expand from there. I’d also checkout movie adaptations based on comics too. It’s hard to give any tips because I have no experience there. ❤️
