Only weeks later war had swept across the land and he was forced to trade his fine silks for a uniform. Every battle he survived ate away at his body more and more until the end of it. He stood and scratched at his deep brown beard before turning to leave, the old scars on his body aching with there usual dull pain. And there he saw her. The lines under her eyes showed signs of were and stress but still held the youthful beauty they once had. She held out her hand. He took it. And once again, he flew.

Their dark figures were distorted and twisted, but there nonetheless, a smudge of something in the vastness of the halls. The woman sighed, leaning close to press her pale cheek against the man’s shoulder, their movements still slow and quiet. Maybe there was music playing, somewhere, some other place in time, but it seemed to fill the high ceilings, echoing off the chandelier. It was melancholy and full of the emotions of a musician long ago, who crafted the calls of the violin and piano that flowed around the room, filling their ears. Both felt something nearly unexplainable. The only words close enough to portray it were, lost in time. The two of them danced a broken waltz among the ghosts of an empty room.
