Christine, hope you are having a speedy recovery from your injury! Just wanted to say thank you for sharing a Tibetan recipe :) Since garam masala isn't traditionally found or used in Tibet, my grandmother would make a giant jar of Son Labu with black peppercorns, Sichuan peppercorns, whole dried chiles, a couple of star anise and ferment it with vinegar. She would also add a tiny bit of red food coloring so the end product would have the most beautiful pink hue. Some people even add turmeric to make it yellow. In our household, we enjoy this as a side dish with a hot bowl of noodles typically but really, with any dish. My grandmother would also sometimes julienne these fermented Son Labu and temper with hot oil and "zimbu," a dried herb from the Himalayas. I imagine in lieu of zimbu, whole cumin seeds or dried caraway would work well, too! Enjoy :)
ouch! sorry you fell -- I've broken bones in my foot and ankle the same way. once you're out of the boot, you're gonna feel much better. if you need to, you can get a leveling shoe for your other foot. heal well and thank you for this interesting recipe! oh, also, love your masala dabba! I have a couple and they are SO useful.
Aw thank you❤ Oh a shoe leveler?? Will need to look into this (maybe for next time haha hopefully not, but good to know it exists!) And thank you! I got that for Christmas too. Was dying to put it in a video 😊😂
@@EastMeetsKitchen it's a shoe for the foot that's not in the boot, to make it come to the same level. I'm sure it has a real, legit name, but I can't think of it!!!
So sorry about your injury! Hope you fully heal soon! This recipe is right up my street, because I love Sichuan peppercorn flavor; I put it in my masala chai, even. Thanks for posting!
I'm so sorry for your foot. I broke my little toe of my right foot last year and I had no boot to wear, I had to walk on my heel and be very patient. But I was ok in less than two months. So be strong and be positive! I have a question: you used daikon, but would it be okay to use any other radish? Thank you!
sometimes as I am about to fall asleep I think about falling while staring into the phone, and wake my self up, not just that, give my self heart palpitations. I imagine catching pokemon and slipping from the sidewalk into the traffic. so, what happened to you, is a nightmare of mine
Thanks so much for this lovely video showcasing one of our lesser-known dishes! So glad you enjoyed it. It’s an absolute addiction in our household 🌶️

Oh??! Ok I'm going to have to try that!
@@EastMeetsKitchen It's so nice instead of black pepper; more floral and zingy!
Also a huge fan of Sichuan peppercorns but this is taking it too far! Please stop! 😆
OMG I made pickled turnips this weekend! Great minds. Hope your recovery goes apace.

What did you pour over at the end, was it just boiled water? Hope you feel better soon ❤
