That was a very good video. Thank you. We’re about 20% into a full renovation of a 77 2ltr and we like looking at videos such as this to give us continuing motivation and ideas for the interior.
Ok, this will do for a while. 😃 I genuinely miss your backpacking videos: not much talking or product placement, very relaxing and sometimes encouraging. Maybe film an overnighter with this beautiful van sometime :)
Thanks Anon. That sounds like a plan 👍 The van does make a brief appearance at the end of this video th-cam.com/video/HPBQPEo28Gw/w-d-xo.html but you’re right. More camping vids needed !
Thanks for the video! Seeing this makes me want to go look for another van. Maybe after my son and I finish our 69 Ghia that we saved from the car crusher. Hope to see you on the road sometime 👍
It just pushes up and stays there Mat. It was refurbished and fitted with new canvas 3 years ago by a company in the north east called ‘proud to pop’. They did a good job.
@@SummitandCamp Hi the pop top canvas looks great. I have just bought a van and was concerned that the pop top didn't 'click' to stay open. Your advice is reassuring. I have just taken it for a drive and we did some hills and it struggled - do you have any advice of how to drive it up hill? Thanks
Just take a good run up ! Ours is a 2 litre so it’s got plenty of punch. Some of the smaller engines can be a bit underpowered. If that’s the case then upgrading the ignition coil, carbs, air cleaner and using premium fuel might help.
It’s v thirsty. Less than 20mpg I’d say. It also had a large single carb with a long inlet manifold so I’m sure the efficiency could be improved with a different carb set up.

Good luck with it. It will all be worth it in the end !
Fantastic van you have there, I miss my 1974 VW T2 camper. It was the best vehicle out of all the other stuff I've had.
Thanks Bob. They are good fun. Always have huge smile on my face when driving her. Not so much when she breaks down though 😂

Yes indeed 👍 All the best.
I bought a 73 bay last week blind , it’s being delivered tomorrow morning, 👍🇬🇧🤣😂🤪🧐
You’re a brave man. Good luck 🤞
Good
Awesome van - do the pop top struts push to a point where it clicks open or does it just push up and stay there? Thanks

how id the mpg on the 2.0 litre? Lovely van!

What conversion is that? I've never seen a bed like that.
It’s a 1979 Holdsworth conversation. At least I think so, having looked at other similar vans.
@@SummitandCamp thanks, quite rare then I guess. Nice
Yes I think so. I’ve only ever seen pictures of 2 others online. Never seen another one in the flesh.
these came out in 1967😀
Not these. The type 1 split screen was 1967. The bay windows like mine were 1971 - 1979. Mine was one of the very last.
@@SummitandCamp my aunt had one befor the vw t25 and then she has a vw t4 camper van
Obviously a big VW camper fan !
Sell me the wheel.
