Amazing video - thank you for the advice. I have 2 boys 4 and 2 so I've really enjoyed your video. Looks like you've had so many memories in this iconic van. I hope Bertie is well? If you're ever up North be sure to head to Goathland (pretty close to Dalby) Cheers Dan
Hi Dan, unfortunately we lost Bertie a few weeks ago 😢 We made some great memories in our VW and already many amazing ones with our new van! Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Absolutely wonderful video. Those memories will last forever of Dave and of the trips camping. I was outrageously lucky to have grandparents with an RV and got to travel around the country every summer. Those were some of the best times of my life. You get to make those with your family.
Beautiful and emotional vid. It reminded me when my dad sold our first car, a 1974 Volkswagen 1500. Hope the Wilkinsons create new beautiful memories with Dave's upgrade. Cheers to new memories!
Good memories to cherish and remember. Excellent footage and a very editing together piece. Wouldn’t expect anything less. Loving the new channel. Keep going mate. New memories ahead mate. Such a lovely family.
Lush video mate. Proper choked me up seeing the kids getting upset as Dave was towed away. It's amazing how we get so attached to these things. We are at the beginning of our campervan journey as I only converted ours this this year, but we have already made some awesome memories with our 2 year old son. I can only imagine the memories that you must have made in 7 years. I hope you get something else just as special, so that you can make more. You appear to be an awesome Dad and I'm sure the girls will love spending time with you and mum and cherish those moments forever!
Thanks Graeme, yeah humans are weird getting emotional about mechanical objects. I'm glad I managed to make this little farewell video that we can always look back on.
Excellent reasons Chris. With more and more vehicles on the road, safety is certainly a priority. Absolutely loved the photo album pics at the end. Long live Dave.
Fantastic video again Chris. Sometimes you have to look past the emotional attachments and look at the practicalities. You have so many great memories. Love the scrapbook idea. Bye Dave, we will miss you🙏🏻👍🏻❤️
Awww Dave has brought a lot of awesome memories it seems. New chapters though my friend! Can’t wait to see what you’re going to level up with!! I’m looking at a teardrop pop up to tow with my truck myself. Cheers to new adventures!🍻
Definitely the right move for space and safety but they are the true classic which you were proud to own and enjoy. They are a labour of love and Dave will be owned by a real enthusiast, that I am certain.
I totally understand Chris. We had loads of fantastic trips in our T4 camper but at the end of the day, a lack of space and particularly no loo was the main reason for letting go. We only have 2 dogs to travel with, and space was still always a premium. Take on a the positives that your new van will bring. You'll be able to wild camp, which will immediately expand your options. Good luck m8 👍
My VW bus was named "Basha". She was 1973 Arizona Camper in "sweet orange". I had to say goodbye to her as well. I relate to this video on a core level. I once substituted fly fishing line as an accelerator cable to get home. She went slow, but she made it!!!:)
made me sad in the end of the video :( Cant imagine saying goodbye to Dave especially when you had so many memories driving it around the country :( I wish you get your new one and dave gets a new owner who will take care of it like you did chris :) I feel you mate sometimes when Me and my wife plan to sell our car we reconsider it as we cant let it go cox its been there with us when we had lil budget and the car served us well ! Lots of love mate and wish you get a new one for your lovely family. ❤
It's funny how we attach such emotion to objects. I guess they become such an important part of life because there's an association with many cherished memories.
Great video Chris with some great memories could see the family were really upset when he went I’m sure you’ve replaced him with one more suited all round 👍🏻
Hi great video Chris couple of questions would appreciate if you can tell me when you did use the cover did you have to take off the roof rack also where did you Purchase it from 👍
This is such a heartfelt video! I've always loved the VW Type 2 "Samba Bus", but they're too costly to buy and run for me. I guess I'll just admire them from a distance! What would be your next motorhome/caravan?
yuppies buys vw yuppie complains he has to work on vw yuppies sells vw seems like a pattern i see often i’ve built at least 30 volkswagens not once did i say you know what this sucks i’m gonna give up and replace hard work with money 😆
Good for you. I have neither the time nor the skill to keep on top of the maintenance. Is it really that bad that not everyone owns a vehicle that they have to put “hard work” into? As explained in the video it wasn’t the only reason to sell. As a family we wanted something bigger. I feel you’ve been unnecessarily unfair with your comment.

Chris, many germans dream about such a nice car!
Yes, it has it's imperfections but that makes it special!
Greetings from Germany
Markus
It's been a dream having a T2 in our lives the last seven years!
Absolutely wonderful video. Those memories will last forever of Dave and of the trips camping. I was outrageously lucky to have grandparents with an RV and got to travel around the country every summer. Those were some of the best times of my life. You get to make those with your family.
Very true Mike. We'll always have the memories.

Thanks Javi, new memories are already being made!

Thanks Trevor 👍🏻
Aww... Such a beautiful farewell... I'm crying too

100% Barry! This was definitely a head over heart decision. Loving our new one though!

I love those teardrops! You'll be living the dream with that thing man!
Definitely the right move for space and safety but they are the true classic which you were proud to own and enjoy. They are a labour of love and Dave will be owned by a real enthusiast, that I am certain.
I really hope so. Dave definitely deserves to be loved. Thanks for watching!
What a lovely video Chris! Reminded me of good old times back in my beautiful country 😊
Thanks for watching!

Thanks Colin, LOVING the new van already!

She sounds amazing. They're so full of character they really do become a family member.
Great video - lovely to see the kids emotional attachment to the van. Usually kids only form those type of attachments to their iPads!
Thanks Connor, they've never known life without Dave.
Hope it goes to an owner who appreciates it!
Hey Lex! Yes me too!

We have and you'll see it soon!
Hi great video Chris couple of questions would appreciate if you can tell me when you did use the cover did you have to take off the roof rack also where did you Purchase it from 👍
Hi Brendan, yes our cover fit over our roof rack. We purchased from Danbury Motorcaravans but can also recommend VW Kampers.
Lovely video sir. All the best 👍
Dave is on the road again🎶
Time for a T6 California! Your girls are going to love it
Those are gorgeous 😍
I about cried over a van that I have no connection to!! Job well done on the video Chris.
I'm going to be honest here. I blubbed like a good un when he got towed away 😪
Great video and very well put together good work sir!
Much appreciated, thanks 🙏
Beautiful. Wonderful! ❤
Probably sold now I so want one it broke my heart seeing your daughters crying as it drove away on the back of a low loader
Blessings to you your family and friends and associates 😉
Love the last song in this vid Chris!
Thanks, me too!
This is such a heartfelt video!
I've always loved the VW Type 2 "Samba Bus", but they're too costly to buy and run for me. I guess I'll just admire them from a distance!
What would be your next motorhome/caravan?
Thanks Luke. Our new Van is bigger and will allow us to comfortably wild camp for a few days at a time. Stay tuned for a video soon!
@@ChrisWilkinson1 Looking forward to it! If only you added the drone crash footage in this video too; that would've been hilarious 😂
Great job Chris!
Cheers!
Very useful, thank you
We love dave
Who doesn't love a Dave!

It’s a campsite in Dalby Forest near Pickering 👍🏻
Loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed this and a fantastic song to accompany it ( need to blow my nose and wipe my eyes damn hay fever 🥲)
Yeah I was streaming too mate. It's bad this time of year that hayfever, sniff sniff.
I see the crash footage got used! 👍🏻
I had to salvage what I could!
Not thought about getting a mocha pot for the coffee?
What a lovely family, I fee I just had 🥛
Thanks 🙂
This was depressing.
