I own a Him ,,but I always liked the look of the Kaw KLE500 twin and wish I,d bought one when they where cheap.. I feel RE could not go far wrong copying there styling and fitting the 650 into the Him frame....

Definitely could do with more power on the RE.

i just came across this video when googling for comparison of these very bikes. which one would you recommend for tall (6'3) beginner? for on-road travel (no pillion) and off-road training? taking into account that on road the him has advantage of abs, but the kle strikes back with more power? i know new tuareg or t7 fit the bill better, but not for beginners and not within my budget anyway :) thnx

In my opinion, the KLE, is probably better suited to your height. However, the Himalayan is newer (unless you are looking at the new KLE's), and possibly easier to ride.
If possible, test ride both, and see which one fits you and your riding style (and of course, budget) best.

I'm working out a deal with my local store to purchase a Himalayan. I want to do similar green laning to what you are doing. Is yours the Euro 4 model and how do you find the tyres on it, both on and off road?

Nice video, by the way! Saddlebags sent me this way and I've subbed, just been too busy to watch and comment so catching up.

      Mines a Euro 4, 2020 bike, registered 2021.
The tyres are pretty good on and off road, but clog up easy in mud.
I'm looking at replacing mine with Mitas E-07's. A slightly more aggressive tread pattern, or maybe Continental TKC80's.
      Although, the Continentals are pricey.
Difficult to find a suitable tyre, due to rear size 120/90-17.
Easy if you want full enduro tyres, but I use mine on road to much.

@@grumpsrides6074 thanks, buddy. My one will be mainly a daily commuter, but with the ability to do gentle green laning.
