Malta pastizzi are small savory pies filled with peas, ricotta cheese or chicken. These Maltese pastizzi are delicious eaten hot as a snack or for a lunch break.
Here, we went to Medina in Malta to a famous small joint called Is-Sirkin known to make some of the best pastizzi on the island.
We ordered several Malta pastizzi starting with chicken (our favorite), peas and ricotta cheese.
And we ordered the local tea with and without milk to drink with it.
These Malta pastizzi are freshly baked on the spot. Crunchy, warm, well filled and stuffed, these savory pies are just delicious. Locals line up at lunch time to get their share of pastizzi.
If you are in Malta, don’t miss out on this authentic no thrill joint in the old Maltese capital Medina.
Here is where to find Is-Sirkin:
    Triq San Pawl, Ir-Rabat, Malta

Each pastizzi is 40 to 50 cents (less than $1USD). You can also try the Maltese qassata, which are hearty doughy savory pastry filled with peas for 1 euros. ($1.12)
