thanks Rich, you answered the question I had from my previous problem, where i had two isolators mounted on wall for aircon unit on top of each other. i will practise adding parameters
nice!!! just keeps on practicing and play around options. sometimes weird things happens in parameters.
Finally sir nagawa mo na nirequest ko hehe. Thank you po 😊
ayos sir, practisin nyo lang. minsan di gumagana, play around parameters sir.
Thanks for your sharing.
Hi Tin, thanks for watching!! and you're always welcome.
I have a Revit family where I apply parameters to move its tag up and down in a floor plan while keeping the family in one place. However, when I use 'pick new' with the 'Vertical face' tool, it doesn't move horizontally. I need it to move in both directions. What should I do?
To enable a tag to move both horizontally and vertically in a Revit family, you can follow these steps:
### 1. Create Reference Planes
- Open the family in the Family Editor.
- Create two reference planes: one horizontal and one vertical.
- These reference planes will be used to control the position of the tag.
### 2. Assign Parameters to Reference Planes
- Select each reference plane and assign a parameter to it. You can create new parameters if needed.
- For example, create a parameter named `HorizontalOffset` for the horizontal reference plane and `VerticalOffset` for the vertical reference plane.
### 3. Align and Lock the Tag
- Place the tag in the family.
- Use the `Align` tool to align the tag with the reference planes you created.
- Lock the alignment to ensure the tag moves with the reference planes.
### 4. Create Dimensions
- Create a dimension from the family origin to the horizontal reference plane and another from the family origin to the vertical reference plane.
- Label these dimensions with the parameters you created (`HorizontalOffset` and `VerticalOffset`).
### 5. Add Flexibility
- Flex the family by changing the values of `HorizontalOffset` and `VerticalOffset` parameters to ensure the tag moves as expected in both directions.
### 6. Load the Family into the Project
- Load the modified family back into your project.
- Now you should be able to move the tag both horizontally and vertically by adjusting the `HorizontalOffset` and `VerticalOffset` parameters in the project environment.
### Additional Tips
- **Visibility Controls**: If you want the tag to be adjustable in the project, make sure the parameters are instance parameters.
- **Reference Lines**: Sometimes using reference lines instead of reference planes can provide better control, especially if you need to rotate the tag.
Hi Rich, can u teach how to show text symbol in that same family.? eg: i want put the fixture tag in family. thank you
