    A significant beneficial side effect of putting points into Fortitude is that you don't have to eat or drink as often. It's a nice Q.o.L. passive buff, not having to deal with the starving/dehyrated grunts & groans every 30 seconds.

    I usually get around 200% movement speed for both pve and pvp. It's pretty useful for missions or any situation where you have to kite something on foot. You can build a gap much quicker to run and shoot or tranq something. Plus, I can save stamina since I can walk as fast as my friends can sprint.

    Personally, I tend to dump about 100 points into Fortitude. This basically means I can survive in pretty much any inclement weather without armor if I have to, and keeps anyone/anything from ever knocking me out. I typically die before being knocked unconscious. With that being said... dumping 50 levels into Fortitude isn't typically something any player really WANTS to do. Especially if their character is limited to just a few different Arks to play on. If you only have The Island to work with, you're effectively dumping 50 of the 104 levels you get into Fortitude. If you have more places to work with, you can get the full 179 levels and 50 really doesn't seem so bad. Still got 129 points left to distribute.
    I also tend to dump the rest of my points into Crafting Speed and Weight. I like crafting because it basically means Blueprints are more effective in my hands and I can "stack food". A custom recipe is usually far better than eating standard food. You can carry a stack of 50 cooked meat, correct? Well, you can carry 20 of any given custom food. I can take 5 cooked meat, create a custom recipe, cook them together, and now I am effectively carrying 100 cooked meats in my hotbar. Not only that, but the custom recipe also HIGHLY REDUCES the spoil times on foods. One of my favorite things to do is to cook prime meat, create a custom recipe that uses 1 cooked prime meat, and then cook a bunch. Spoil timer immediately jumps up to at least 1 day. Then, you can dump it into a preservation bin or fridge and get a bunch more days. Custom recipe food lasts a lot longer without spoiling, and can be as effective (or sometimes moreso) than your actual meals. At that point, I tend to just carry a stack of 20 of whatever I'm eating, it lasts in my hotbar forever, and when I get very low on food or whatever, I eat one, and then it fills my bar entirely.
    In Singleplayer, these are enough to get me through basically anything. In PvP... this requires a lot of... special playstyle. A lot of "hit and run", mostly. A lot of hitting people with Torpor to steal their stuff. A lot of hiding and fighting unseen. There aren't a lot of players who protect themselves from torpor online, which makes hidden theft relatively easy. Land a headshot on someone with a tranq dart and they usually go down pretty quick. Hard for people to figure out it was you as well, especially if you don't kill them. You don't get notifications on who attacked you, only on who killed you. Some situations can be dealt with fairly easily by knocking people unconscious in the extreme weather areas, stripping them naked, and then letting the environment kill them.
    But, that's just the way I like to play. Hidey and sneaky and tranq and steal.

  • @tatianasearle3470
    @tatianasearle3470 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    Thanks for the video! Just one thing to add: If you are able and willing to use mods, there are some that add backpacks to the game. When playing with increased harvesting rates, it is strongly recommended by many players to use a stacking mod, most of which not only increase stack sizes, but also reduce item weights. So if you are using a backpack and/or a stacking mod, weight becomes another attribute you don't need to put any points into.

    As someone with low fps, I prefer high melee with good sword over guns because it's far easier to hit the threat. Long range attacks are only really useful against strong enemies like titanosaur, a giga or bosses, so I only really use shotguns and rifle for knockouts if necessary. I also like having 40-50 fortitude making it impossible for most creatures to knock me out and even if they do, it'll give me enough time to clear the threat and safely be unconscious with neutral tames around.

    Honestly, when me and my brother play I like to roleplay as a dwarf. I make my character as small as possible, then I pump level into health, weight and crafting skill. I just have my brother pump his into health, stamina, and movement speed because he doesnt listen and likes to run all over the place so he gets into alot of confrontations with wild dinos. Crafting skill really help when you need to build things on the fly like taming pins or certain weapons. It's also fun to mass produce arrows and just listen to the little finish crafting "ch" but in fast forward.

    Really late to this vid but it showed up on my feed. Really well done video. You make it super easy to follow and understand. I agree with most things you said.
    I will say that I am purely a PVE player but I play with PVP settings cause PVE settings suck.
    Health I'm in total agreement. It's something I don't really focus on till much later. Early game if you can't outrun something your dead regardless of health cause your equipment is so bad, might as well go with other stats. Later on I bring that level up though cause artifact runs do be nasty.
    Stamina I do early on to an extent. I go to 150 just because I find 100 isn't enough to get you out of a lot of dangers and early game your on foot. But utimately later you use dinos so its not that important.
    Food and water are completely a waste. I mean if your really struggling on say scorched earth at the beginning you could lv water but that's literally the only instance I can see it useful. Oxygen also mostly useless considering you won't get far without a dino or scuba gear anyway.
    Weight is the holy grail of attributes. I put tons in weight. Even if you are using dinos to do the heavy lifting you still need weight yourself to move stuff from the dinos to crafting stations unless using mods.
    Speed is good to an extent. Obviously PVP it's very important but as a PVE player I only put like 12 levels into it. That's enough to outrun most things you need to.
    Fortitude I always forget that it also helps prevent disease. But personally thats not that important to me because if I'm going caving I'm taking antitode regardless of fortitude level as fortitude won't guarantee your safe anyway. I am thinking of pumping some levels into it now cause the torpor is definitely an issue when dealing with caves. As far as the temperature I haven't found it really important though. I haven't played all the maps but Ragnarok is the only one I've found temperature is a real issue. Pretty much otherwise standard fur or ghillie will do fine without pumping anything into fortitude. And I've experimented with fortidue and it's just not worth it if your goal is for temperature. You can pump 40 levels into it and that would be like equivalent to 1 or 2 pieces of the standard fur. So I don't think fortitude is as important as you say at least for PVE.
    Melee again as a PVE player I completely agree that it's just a waste to put points there. Your dinos are gonna do the harvesting and damaging anyways and you almost always use ranged weapons which it doesn't effect. So normally I don't put anything into melee. However, melee does effect how much resources you collect. You can test this on a resource that will only take one hit do destroy, and as you increase your melee you will get increasing amounts from that one hit with variation as there is some randomization. This is because resources harvested and XP gained are both scaled with damage output. That said it's still not worth while as it's hardly noticibe with the small amount lvs increase melee. For dinos it's extremely import for harvesting though especially if you for example your harvesting element shards on crystal Iles. With any old anky you might get 7 shards pee crystal but if you have a 1000% melee anky your gonna get like 25 shards (dependent on server harvest rates of course). With that in mind it's also good to note that if you were to pump levels into melee you would level faster as you would gather a larger amount of resources and faster, same with combat if you so chose to use a melee weapon.

  • @sunnyfields1845
    @sunnyfields1845 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My favorite stats to pump points into are weight, health, speed, fortitude, and a little bit of oxygen & crafting skill.
    Weight and health were my default before I really knew how to play the game. Now I really try to go for weight and speed. Health is good too, but I don't need as much health if I can just leave all the dangers in the dust.
    On maps where I may be in the water often, I'll put a few points into oxygen so I can swim faster and stay under longer.
    I do some fortitude so I can survive extreme weather, and a little bit of crafting skill (I just like how fast it lets me craft tbh lol).
    I never noticed anything helpful with melee so I just don't use it.
    I never do anything with food, water nor stamina. I started playing with my sister and she has all 3 on 0 so you never get either. Personally I like the challenge of food and water, but I keep stamina at 0 as I have no patience/a short attention span.

    I only play sp PvE ,my first points go into speed ( to around 15-16 ) and stam just so I can outrun raptors then its weight and health, also fort in the later and yes the otter great shoulder pet keeps your temps level but also can hold artifacts which are great when in some of those artifact caves you can wait around not be affected but the heat or cold and keep grabbing artifacts as they respawn. if I am doing a speed run, testing myself then It is more like o2 and stam so that I can do underwater caves but it has been a long while since I have done a personal speed run using the official speed run settings

    For PVP having fast movement, high melee, and lowhp with fortitude pumped. This allows you to fill an assassin like role. Preferably one tribal member per 5 setups uses this but can be fierce. You almost can't be "captured" as you die easier than being put to sleep most of the time. If they try to sleep you generally you sleep them first or die. It also allows you to enter exit battle/cover. And ultimately as a solo you can avoid combat better as well as bandit people gathering quickly. You can easily survive for longer periods of time "camping/stalking" teams of players.

    • @esluh
      @esluh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Higher crafting skill = faster crafting. This goes for items created in your inventory only. However, it also increases custom recipe effectiveness. You'll have to look up "custom recipes ark" on Google for specifics... there's a lot to that.

    • @CompleteGamesWithJames
      @CompleteGamesWithJames  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@esluh yer as sean says there, and I use crafting skill only when I do a mind wipe and do a day of crafting as it's much more beneficial to have all points in crafting skill when doing lots of crafting as opposed to a few points. The amount of bonus points added to a crafted item is random each time you craft something, but the more points you have the better your chances you have to increases the bonus effect. I.E a high tire saddle may get crafted 6 times but each will have a different amount of extra points so it's a roll of the dice thing. As well as the amount of time it takes to craft. My advice is to use crafting skill when doing a mind wipe or perhaps when you have ascended 1 or to maps and feel that all other traits have been pumped enough, like after ascending aberration and the island you may feel pumping a couple of points in crafting skill is not a waste of time as completing them maps would give you an extra 30 points to spend if you completed the on alpha.
