Lip J is not even here to battle. She's murderous and scary if she really wants to win and we've seen it before. I feel like she doesn't care anymore about winning, she's here to showcase waacking in its entirety. This is like a masterclass and free lesson. Queen 😩

@@nannuguya she really is not. Did you watch the ending or just the first 3 minutes? She literally said "I LOST" and that decision made Essence won. I know Lip J more than you, and she really wasn't here to win since it's just a JUDGE battle and not a regular top 32 ones. If you want her in her element for a recent performance, go watch the Battle Is Over. She was aiming for a win, and she did.

This why Lip J is so well loved in the waacking scene around the world. She loves waacking more than winning. She really showed how the culture is there to be celebrated and shared with her fellow dancers. I love her so much 😭❤️
we all know lip J ate these rounds. she has musicality, clear poses, flooring, techniques, cleanliness, technicality, feelings, showmanship, expressions. But i have to respect her decision. Props to essence to, she did a good job.
you said it all. They were both good though like i enjoyed every round but i'm also leaning toward Lip J but i admire her ability to admire someone else's work
lip j just showed her humanity, we love her not only because of her dancing quality but her mind
lip j won all 4 rounds (round 3 was close) , but you can tell that she just wanted to give the win in the end to essence by saying she lost
yeah i felt like Essence really brought it round 3 but I agree that Lip J cleared all four rounds
Essence for me was strong and graceful while Lip J sharp, ferocious, and technical. Both made me feel very emotional, what a joy. The art of dance expressed beautifully by these lovely beings. Dance and music my first language, they both spoke to my soul. ❤

In the 60 fps version of this video the movements are much better appreciated, every time I compare them I become more convinced of that detail, it really is a visual delight

Essence got groove, Lip J got technique. Such contrasting dancers but highly effective.
Lip J has grooves AND technique. Being clean doesn't take away the groove. Essence only has grooves.

I love Essence's waacking style, it's so elegant. But Lip j obviously won that, she just gave the win to Essence. Even the audience was shocked by her decision (you can see it in their faces)

Since you mentioned it, listen closely on how she's hitting TWO instruments simultaneously. The main beat with her arms and poses, and the other sub instrument with her LEGS pivoting the area. She's really a master of this polyrhythmic stuff. I've been watching her for years but I still gag when she does these tiny details. And on top of all that, her posture is still very very clean. ARTWORK 😭
Watching this and reading comments, from the beginning I can tell Lip J ate the whole stadium with her versatility. But if u want to see the original waacking, it's what Essence has brought, she's the living legend. Btw, Lip J, I hope Monika won't scold u 😅

Essence is an amazing, dynamic dancer. She just didn’t show as broad and fluent a vocabulary of movement as Lip J in these rounds. To my eyes, Lip J swept it.
I really don’t understand how a contest can work if the dancers are allowed to decide the outcome. You’ll get modest and generous people handing the win to others who may not deserve it. I feel like that happened here, and it will be an ongoing problem if they continue with this weird way of doing it.
I think cause they're judges they judge themselves. They're the top of the top so they're the exception

@@wildflowers30 my taste is bad for choosing Lip J??? If anything, her moves are standard compared to Essence and she also expresses the music lyrically and musically. So from here, we can say you didn't only lose your taste, you also lost your sight and hearing for not being able to recognize her dance and the music came together MORE 😭

@@LilysDreamWorldI think the other commenter said your taste was bad based off the way it seemed you implied that their taste was bad for choosing essence, personally I preferred lip J’s rounds more as I felt the material and the foundation shined through with this particular showing but I’m not going to put down someone else for enjoying another persons round, dance is subjective and there are many ways to interpret movement, sometimes one persons round can speak to another more than someone else and that’s normal

Can anyone tell me how to appreciate essence's waacking and musicality? I cant really understand her dance although there were some great moves😅
Essence approaches Waacking from a more old school stance. It’s more the groove and feeling while still having excellent musicality. There’s soul in her dance.
Lip J is more of a technician and modern waacker. She dances with precision and flare. It’s more about eye catching moves than melting in with the beat.

I also thought in round 1 and 2 lip j definitely was in the groove more. The last 2 rounds were classic waacking songs, and I think she let the techniques fly
They were both told to say who they think won and the battle would go on and on until the two battlers reached the unanimous decision of who among them truly won.
Objectively, Lip J was the true winner. But the dancer she was up against was a senior dancer and one of the older dancers of the genre. Lip j won but she chose to give essence her flowers.

I think because it's a battle between judges they are judging themselves. I think the battle is just for fun

립제이님 팔길이부터 두께ㆍ근육까지 정말 교과서 같다.. 짧지도, 길지도 않아서 짧을 때의 빠르고 야무진 느낌과 길 때의 묵직한 느낌까지 완벽하게 조절되고 전달되는 듯. 근데 두번째 곡 essence님 너무 멋지다.
마지막 노래 신나고 빠른 템포에 맞춰서 날리는 거 없이 빠르게 표현하니까 너무 신난다ㅋㅋ 그 와중에 그루비한 파트는 기가 막히게 살리는거 진짜 쾌감
Who the winner?
Obviously Lip J won, but she gave the victory to the participant (Essence) because she was part of the jury. In addition, Lip J throughout the years has always shown humility and great respect for the other participants.
Finally, the participant Essence won, after a final battle vs Wizzard, taking the victory in the SDF 2023 waacking category.

If you feel like she did nothing, then you have your answer for why she won, because she was able to convey to your eyes that what she was doing was effortlessly, because best believe that moving in that crop position with heel and moving like she glinding on rollerskate required effort a lot physical strength. That the power and the beauty of Essence dancing is how easy she make it look in so way. And if really pay attention to Lip j dancing you would have seen that she started panicking and movement start losing grace and look more forceful in (especially in the arms) until recompose herself. Lip J did well love her but was better

The winner was up to the two judge battlers (essence and lip j), either by conceding or, the by audience vote. Lip chose to concede out of respect. But the audience would have for sure chosen lip j
@@blondy450 stop it. You are Essence or maybe her relative. Musically, visually and OBVIOUSLY, Lip J is better. There is absolutely NOTHING Essence can do that Lip J can't. If you are talking about balancing in heels, Lip J has done more impressive moves on that department. Stop denying it. We're not talking abstract, we are talking as we see and hear. And in that case Lip J won.
@@LilysDreamWorld dear person on internet let me clarify I didn't deny anything I provide an explanation you can take it or leave it, I invited to read properly what I wrote again. And I didn't say anything about balance I talk about physical strength two different things, and I never said Lipj could not do it. I said Essence dancing is like ballerina their job is to make it look like it's easy what they're doing that it's not an effort, but we both know that's not the case. I never mentioned that lipj could not do those move, more that Lipj delivery is not as graceful and effortless as Essence. Lipj technic is more mecanic,elegant but not as graceful.
