  • This is a 3D reconstruction of the famous nightclub PALLADIUM in NYNY, which was pulled down in 1998. I've been there at 1988 and I tried to remember as much as I can to put into details.

    I gasped as the POV went down the stairs. What a crazy memory to suddenly have come flooding back after nearly 30 years. Breathtaking and a little overwhelming.

    The Palladium was one of my favorite clubs. I first went there in 1985. Always had fun there.

    I was a bouncer at the Palladium, Limelight and the tunnel from 1995-2000. This is a very good depiction of it.

    I DJed at the Palladium from 92 to 95... Booth was on that same side, but the first balcony 'cubical' as I called them, was the entrance stair landing from the first floor that connected immediately to the left into the extended balcony. A half wall with a locked gate, was the entrance to the lighting booth (Second cubical), where Martin and Jon Baker were the sound and lighting engineers. Adjacent to the lighting booth, in the next cubical was the DJ booth design by Richard Long & Associates, where you had the pro Dj standard Modified Urei 1620 Dj Mixer, three Technics 1200's, Technics RS Reel to Reel, Nakamichi BX-125E, were I did my live "Mix-Tapes" and two (4 woofer 12inch each) Community Monitors. Also, a double 5 ft racks, in the back wall facing the booth, with Crown and I believe QSC amps (Not to sure it i was QSC). On that was was the access entrance to the Cat Walk that led above the dance floor, about 4 stories high. Back in the Dj booth, the actual mixing counsel rack was motorized to tilt the mixer and EQ's in an angle or leveled to the 3 turntables. Adjacent to the DJ booth was the Video playback booth, where they mixed multiple videos, on 3/4 decks and VHS players, to the two, 20 ton video rigs, (each had 25 Sony CRT TV Monitors). [ I think I need to be correct on weight ]. Next, in the adjacent cubical, was a step or two down into the VIP balcony facing the stage and the ramp that lead to the Palladium offices and rear entrance.

    the back side of the top floor was the movie theater type seating.. it had the movie fold down seats and had about 20 rows of seats going back to the wall.

    Dude, this is genius, and i remember it similarly, although there were so many little corners to this place, like the VIP "engine room" which, when it was operating, was the engine that raised and lowered the orchestra platform.

      Yeah,it was a good illustration. Could’ve thrown in the balcony seating and the hip hop room and bathroom downstairs. But had legendary times there. With Casanova and Junior spinning and Aphrodite at door. 1 of my favorite spots to go to in the 90’s

    There used to be another Palledium in New Rochelle, NY. It used to be a movie theater. I believe it was in the early 2000’s. I did go to that one pretty often, until they close in 2004, I think. Didn’t stay open that long. Too bad I never went to the one in NYC😐

    Thank you for doing this. I wish I had taken photos when I was there. All I have are memories but this 3D rendering is extremely accurate! Great job guys! Some more details you might want to add are the jumbotrons would move up and down and also around in a circular motion. Also, there were stage props that they would lower down and stop right above your head. Then they would slowly lower them to the floor and next thing you know you are dancing inside a stage prop house. So cool!! I miss those days!

    • @RobertFromBklyn
      @RobertFromBklyn 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think your thinking of Studio54... not the Palladium... Studio had the movable bridge above the dance floor... Not the Palladium... the whole idea was to create something different then Studio.... the owners felt that Studio was played out already.... In fact.. they went out of their way to attract a different crowd altogether.. And.. if I'm not mistaken in your rendering.. I saw someone with what looked like a cell phone... which didn't exist back then...LOL
      As a POI.. I was in both Studio54 & the Palladium...
