Recently I took a statistics course and in the course material we were told that data is divided into qualitative data which is nominal and ordinal and quantitative data which is discrete and continuous. I don’t know if our course material is a little bit dated or if it’s just another point of view in statistics

oh dear, from knowing two, i.e. Numerical and Categorical, to the other four, i.e. Nominal, Ratio, Interval and Ordinal. LOL.
