You’re right Robert, the detached studio set up is the absolute ideal scenario. I take a very short walk to mine and when I open the door I feel like I’ve arrived with some purpose. I then proceed to noodle for about an hour, play darts and watch TH-cam videos. After that I convince myself that my pedalboard needs a bit of a re-jig and proceed to A/B overdrive pedals for the next 4 hours. I haven’t written that hit song yet but it’s coming, I tell you!

Put a lock on the door to your home studio so that it feels like you're unlocking a separate space when you go to use it. It plays with your mind as it's not as easy as just opening the door and might feel like you are somewhere else.

      1. get a small container and fixture your studio in there - then you can ship it wherever you want it, take it on vacation, whatever. I keep trying to convince my wife to do this so I can just take it camping on a dolly - nothing more fun than flattening some trees where there is no noise ordinance.
      2. don't have a studio at all - multi-room studios use for lack of my knowledge of better term "music network", so just set that up at home with end points either being portable or in places/rooms you find yourself playing. You can turn it on and capture if you want but it's probably ultimately even less expensive and more robust than putting together a studio "All in One" place.

A sheet of plexiglass with some removable feet stores easily and solves some issues for the few minutes you might need it sometimes.
There are local companies here (probably everywhere) that build isolation rooms/chambers for not much more than getting cases built; had to get a few decoupled rooms into a pretty small lab on one job where people could still go in and out of them while getting everything else done there too.
Same job, I had to take some "phone booth" conference rooms (one person tiny rooms with one side being basically a glass door) and get them isolated without taking up space/spending money for some functional product testing (it had a mic and we were running test loops) we were doing and honestly it ended up being mostly a roll of this heavy vinyl like stuff that honestly *blocks* sound extremely well. Investing in a couple pieces of plywood with some of this material glued to to it might be helpful to kind of break up any multipath issues, same deal with the removable feet of course; I guess it's becoming evident I like portable, modular, reconfigurable solutions that I can take with me relatively non-destructively if I move spaces.
It's a nice setup that's dialed in pretty well, good job.

You make really beautiful music. I bought a set of lessons from you..I guess I need to get started on those. I'm in the middle of setting up a new room in the back of my house. I moved here a couple of years ago..It's an arduous process. I don't have any help, so it takes me a long time to get anything done. I've been playing for 50 plus years, but I figure it never hurts to take some lessons anyway. Thanks! Enjoy Nashville..I lived there, bck in the early 1980's. it was metal heads back then..lol!

Robert, you're in God's country, now. I loved seeing you with "Uncle Larry" Bukovak. What a player he is. TASTY and TASTEFUL. He seeks to play what the song NEEDS. He understands songs and the song. Everywhere you go to the east, it just gets better. I am Tn also, but to the west. Mostly good, but the farther west, the more careful you must be as you approach America's first and most important highway, the Mississippi. Just dip down into the hill country on your way, THE home of the COUNTRY BLUES. After a Guild and GIbson, I got a new D-18----couldn't spring for the D-28, I still have the hang tag. I was in Nashvegas getting warranty work dont on it exaclty then Johnny Cash passed away (RIP)

Hey there Robert, like the new studio ! You have several very nice guitars, in the past you had 2 or 3 telecaster (not all Fender) but other than the 2 Les Pauls you have the K.M. and the p-90 gold top would you purchase another L.P. for any reason different pick ups, sought after year (like the 58-60) les pauls, or are you satisfied with the 2 you have and don't need another L.P. just curious your thoughts on owning several guitars of certain make and models. Love the channel keep up the great work. E.L.
