There is a lot of misinformation in this video. -The percentage thing is just how much the other vassals support you getting the castle. -When you have their icons above your ticket in the decision it means they are spending influence to increase the support for that decision. -What you aren't taking into account though is that the vassals don't make the decision. The ruler decides and depending on his relation with you/other candidates and also depending on the number of fiefs you already have or don't have it can make him want to go one way or another. -However if the ruler wants to override a majority vote he has to spend his own influence. And this cost can be increased or decreased depending on the kingdoms policies. -Most of the time, if he doesn't hate you, and you have majority support it will go to you, assuming you are even a candidate. Some other notes: -You don't need to participate in the siege to be a candidate for the settlement. It is possible that participating increases the chance you are on the docket, or perhaps it increases your support from the other vassals in the decision, but I haven't verified one way or another. -You are limited to a certain number of fiefs depending on your Clan Tier. I believe it increases by 1 per tier, and I'm fairly certain the max is 2 at Tier 3. -Your Kingdom's Ruler's traits can effect how likely he is to give a fief to a vassal over himself.
Also, apparently, if you just joined in and don't have any land yet, they will rush for you to get some. When I joined Vlandia there was a vote going on a nord city and everyone in the kingdom voted me to have it. Well, I fought for Vlandia for a really-really long time by that moment, so maybe they just liked me a lot.
Pinned! but I'm also noticing that a lot of what you said just isn't applying to me right now, hence why I Think there's a bit of a bug here and there for how this is being factored in. I also believe that other Nations have different rules, yes? Like the Ruler can't just override it in some of them? Help me out with that as I'm not 100% on it
One note on not becoming a mercenary for Sturgia if you want to be a vassal of Vlandia, if you do you can defeat their lords in battle then let them go and every time you do this, even if you force them into battle, you gain +2 relations with that lord. So technically it could be an easy way to farm relations before becoming a vassal if you're primary strength is battling.
i hope the mercenary system gets more like warband were the contract was monthly and in the end of that month you simply did not renew the contract without losing relation with lords because -20 is a bit steap for a simple mercenary to leave a faction i mean why would the lords care that mutch in my campaign vlandia has like 3 mercenary companies with them... Mercenaries come and go no reason to lose relation with the lords imo better to have a contract and not renew at the end without penalties or if you leave before the contract ends then sure there should be penalties.
It's also very stupid at the moment, how can I talk to a ruler and say I need to leave for my own reasons and that it was an honor and such, they share the same opinion and show gratitude, things end peacefully but then you lose rep despite things being pleasant...
Agree, I have also noticed that when a faction is at peace and you try to become a merc, they decline (I tried joining Aseri, later they were at war I joined fought, and when they were at peace again I still couldn't quit without the relation hit)
@@Laudon1780 i would say that if a nation is at peace it makes sense they dont need mercs but if you are a part of a nation and they peace out in all fronts then you should be able to leave without a penalty or even dismissed by the nation itself...
I heard the "breast feeding" comment, but I was nearly a minute into the video with a spoon of cornflakes raised halfway to my mouth before I stopped and said "Wait, what?".
I gathered together about 500 troops with like 8 nobles or something to capture a city, we successfully captured it and held off 3 attacks during the siege building process. I wasn’t even a candidate for getting the city lol.
@@garywijaya7653 Check the comments some guy wrote about it; apparently there's a fair play sytem where the difference of held fiefs between vassals can't get higher than 1.
I’d lost all my fiefs by the time I captured the city. It was funny, gave the south empire the Dragon Banner, she gives me a city and a castle, whole world except Aserai declares war on us, lost all my fiefs in like a week. After that I sieged that city and took it.
This is how it went for me yesterday: I swore alliegence to the Southern Empire, and joined Rheaga's army. Together we fought one battle and sieged on city. Since I basically didn't have much influence, I ignored the vote for the new city. To my great surprise, I was granted it. Then after her army dissolved due to lack of cohesion, I formed my own army and three other lords joined me. Under my leadership we took another city, two castles, and we won a major battle. Now I had plenty of influence, but my name only appeared on the docket of those three elections once. And even though I spent 100 influence, I barely swayed the voted by a few percentage points. The new fiefs ended up going to much stronger lords who already has several fiefs. I think this whole system still needs fine tuning
Also when you first join a faction you are basically always put on the first feif grant for a castle/town as you are likely the only lord with no feifs
The check is: 1. landless lord joining the siege takes top priority, they will get most support even if he just knock the gates and dies shortly after. 2. You own prosperous and powerful fief the greater your fief the more you have to do. 3. Number of troops deployed in battle, landless vassal own nothing deploying like 60 of his troops, that basically his whole army gets higher support than another vassal that own a city for example and he deploy like 200 army basically half of his garrison, this is what basically give you that first fief you own. 4. The game npc doesn't recognize player as special person, they see you same as like other npc, except in battle player tend to get ignored if there is allies nearby.
I tested it all too. You said "The new fiefs ended up going to much stronger lords who already has several fiefs." but it's wrong. Or I should say missing. If the new captured castles or towns were given to some lords who already had several fiefs, then it means there was no clan in the kingdom with zero fief. Because most likely the clans that have no fief get the new captured fief. And the lords you mentioned probably had at least one fief near the new captured fief, proximity(as the distance of fiefs on map) is also important. Basicly, the rulers don't want their vassals to take fiefs that far away from the fiefs they already have. It makes sense tho, it's harder when it comes to protect them all if the fiefs are too seperated from each other.
@@law0fsurprise868 I made that comment one day after the game came out. So yeah, it should be different now, probably better balanced, after who knows how many patches.
I sometimes still get upset over my favorite sniper, who had been in my squad since day 1 and was just about maxed out, dying after missing TWO 95% shots in a row. Thankfully my controller throwing phase was over by that point or it surely would have been embedded in the wall lmao.
@elijah mikle Yea but you know what, from the design perspective, XCOM is a shit! The philosophy of the game is that each of your turns needs to be near perfect for you to win. Do 1 or 2 mistake and you can reload. So you process the scenario in your mind, move perfectly, select your targets perfectly, aim, shoot AAAAAND you miss your 95% hit chance two times in a row and you loose. WHAT THE FUCK! (Yea I uninstalled it yesterday so the pain is real)
Few things. Those bars aren't your influence, they're how much support each candidate is receiving from the realm. (on the vote screen) Rulers can and will go against the majority and either hand it to the lesser candidate or themselves. I don't know if that's personality based but you will see messages about rulers going against the majority quite often on the world map. You don't need to vote to get a fief, it helps if you can vote for yourself to increase your support but it isn't necessary. Like I said above sometimes the rulers will give it to someone else regardless. 80 hours in so far, having a lot of fun, but ya there's a few things that I've found.
Another fun tip: If you want a castle as soon as you join a kingdom, swear your allegiance to their ruler immediately after they take a new one. It will most likely go to you.
You can also do the main Quest and establish your own kingdom by forming the banner and taking a weak defended castle, once you take the castle you go to war with that faction but if you run back to the quest giver it makes you at peace with all clans... then you can decided your course of action after that.
this is what i call the "conquering" path or "kings" path which actually is very hard from what i hear if you're not at peace. although easy tweak is that you can send someone to negotiate peace once you takes castles, rinse and repeat the peace talks after taking a new castle XD
I suggest getting the bannerlords tweak mod, from nexus mod. They have a bunch of small fixes like being able to leave as a mercenary after 30 days options like warband and double xp gain/renown. Its a good way to accelerate the early game
I dont think that the castle thing is a bug. 100% means that all of the votes are on your side but I think that the ruler can decide against that vote (propably by paying quite a lot of influence)
Makes you wonder, if the ruler is spending loads of influence to go against popular opinion, will he/she reach the point where they don't have enough to do anything anymore? Do they have a quantity like a player does, or do they just have infinite amounts to throw around and get everything they want? Do their relations with the people under them get trashed a bit every time they do it, and if so could it get to the point where nobody wants anything to do with that ruler anymore?
@@Brunnen_Gee im pretty sure that NPC work exactly the same as the PC in this regard. There is a policy that allows the ruler to only spend half the influence while over ruling a decision, that wouldnt make sense if they had infinite influence. Im pretty sure that he loses relations too but this aspect might still be in development. Earlier versions of the game didnt have loll/gain of relations implemented yet
Literally searching for what I need reference this single player and you are at the top of every single one. Really happy for you man! Keep grinding and things will keep getting better for you, I've got a good feeling about that.
Since I also pay attention to the color, because I don't want my soldiers to be pink, I especially choose the realm that has the coolest color. What a pity. Thanks for your videos!
Some of my experiences with getting fiefs: - I feel like the percentage chance for getting a castle/town is much higher if you were involved in the siege, even higher if you led the army yourself but you can still be a candidate if you were not involved. - It seems more likely that you are nominated if you already hold a fief in the general proximity( I held two fief in the north and when a random army took another city close by I got nominated with majority support. I never was on the list for castles on the other edge of the empire though) - If any lord in your faction (including you) lost a fief and it gets recaptured I believe it has a higher chance to go back to that lord. For me it worked really well to farm up some Influence, create an army and capture a castle/town somewhere. If I get voted for it I then try to focus on nearby castles. This way I managed to sweep through and take 2 cities and 2 castles for myself in one go. I didn't do any extensive testing so these points may just be a random occurence in my campaign.
I've been looking for a valid information about it for hours and I finally found your comment, thank you. Obviously the most important thing is proximity and I couldn't find this information for hours god damn. Everyone on forums, youtube looks like they've been playing the game for too long yet they don't know enough. It was ridicilous.
I can confirm this. I literally went wild on every castle&city I've seen today. Just to test this proximity thing. I'm a vassal in the game and I used my all influence just to call lots of other armies. I attacked literally everything I saw. Castles, cities, villages, villagers, caravans, armies, whatever it is. I beat 3 castles in a row which were not close to my castle(I have one castle). I was not on the vote list for those castles. Then I beat 2 big cities which were not in the same proximity with my castle. I was not on the list again. And then, the rest of my kingdom attacked a city near my castle, I didn't even join that war. They took that city and boom, I was on the list just because of the proximity. I couldn't vote for myself because I was out of influence lol. I was at %0 on the list btw. But there were no supporters for the other 2 guys tho. So I most likely would take that city if I could vote for myself. I just wanted to confirm, the most important thing is the proximity. But I also have to say, if there is a clan in your kingdom which has no fief yet, and if you have at least 1 fief, then the next captured castle or city most likely goes to that clan.
The informations here, yours and mine should be on all those forums&videos I've checked before instead of the missing and almost useless informations. People who look&search for these actually just need these informations mentioned here by you and me. It's just simple. Lots of people want to know how to get a castle or a town as a vassal. The freaking forums-videos say that players should be on the vote list. And what they provide as informations about how to be in that list is completely missing or it's just not even there. It's so ridicilous. Especially the videos. Because almost every one of them had thousands of influence points so they're pretty much at late game BUT THEY JUST DON'T FUCKING KNOW ENOUGH. It's so annoying.
Yeah there's a huge problem right now lmao, build the lime thing for food. Also you can resupply your city with food by selling it to the trader. Strangely counts. I spent like 20k on food every few months or so lmao
villagers are bugged. Every village I conquered turned poor for no reason, and building lv 3 mill and other things and waiting many days didn't help at all.
In my experience as a vassal, I was quickly given two fiefs (a castle and a city). I had participated in sieges against other fiefs but not in either of the two I wound up receiving. After that the ruler seemed to be doling out fiefs to clans as they joined in order to keep things spread out.
beat the game... *mumble* times. still have no idea how to run a kingdom. usually take over Revyl and expand outward with my companions. wedding parties. and exhausting the enemy until I can take a new town. thanks for teaching me
Apparently, if you just joined in and don't have any land yet, they will rush for you to get some. When I joined Vlandia there was a vote going on a nord city and everyone in the kingdom voted me to have it. Well, I fought for Vlandia for a really-really long time by that moment, so maybe they just liked me a lot.
here are a few corrections (from 1.0.4, also Vladian): -as a vassal you will eventually get a fief even if you dont fight for it (I got a castle but didnt even realize it straight away), then I captured a city and got it by influencing the vote. -after I have acquired 2 fiefs, I besieged 2 other castles with armies I summoned myself, and I wasnt even part of the vote: It seems to me that you can't get a 3rd fief if not every other vassal has 2 (no more than 1 fief difference between vassals, only the king gets more) and thats probably why you can get a fief without fighting: if every other vassal has 1 or 2, and you have 0, then you get 1 to even it out. Or maybe it has to do with clan rank. This part is only assumption without anything but my own experience of the game to back it up. Please contradict me if you have experienced otherwise.
"-as a vassal you will eventually get a fief even if you dont fight for it (I got a castle but didnt even realize it straight away)," You propably just missed the election (it will happen without you, if you don't check it in time), it isn't quaranteed.
Something very similar happened to me in the Southern Empire. Though I did fight in the battle for what ended up being my city, I didn't even look at the voting screen because I had basically no influence. Then after forming my own army and conquering another city and two castles, I wasn't even on the docket for those, and they ended up going to a lord who already had several fiefs. I feel the system is still a little wonky
@@brajuhani yea but why am I one of the choices in the election in the first place? I was still chasing looters and forest bandits at this point, I didnt fight for it at all. my point is you dont have to even know about a fief to get it (at least the first one, or you have the clan rank for it), as long as your kingdom is conquering.this isnt guaranteed, but you dont necessarily need to besiege a fief to get it.
thank you for the videos, a lot of good information here. If you get the inkling, I would like to see a video on how to gain a lot of positive relation with other lords/vassals. Unlike the first game, there do not appear to be very regular quests that you can run for them to make them happy. It also seems like my relations aren't really increasing when join their armies, nor does it seem like the relation is increasing when I help them in battle. The best way I've found seems to be voting in favor of some of their proposals using the influence system, but this usually makes enemies as well. Trying to find a more balanced way that won't make others hate me at the same time. Keep up the good work!
WAIT! So what is bugged about starting your OWN kingdom??? - Also I got a castle by just going solo and storming one... Next I just need to rank up a bit and get more men and then I can start a kingdom the quest says.
You can start your own kingdom when you finish the banner quest and hit clan rank 3. However many options such as declaring wars are bugged and do not work until they patch it.
@@user-wq9mw2xz3j You have to talk to either the Empire lady or the other guy after you complete all the objectives. It is easy to miss because its not marked.
That wasn't a bug but a feature.. The monarch can overrule the votes. You may have realised the report that goes "this castle went to lord .. and caused a split between the council" or something like that. And also, there's a policy in the kingdom menu where the monarch can have to lose less influence when overruling votes.
Fife, which is the word for County in Scotland. Is pronounced “Fahyf” to the Scottish. I thought it was as Eliphas said, as I am from England. But I decided to look it up, so you are actually correct in your pronunciation :) @ Italian Spartacus ;)
@@MattGilmourMusic no he isnt. Its pronounced the same as thief, fiefdom which is used alot and youve probably heard is pronounced thief-dom. Also the county in scotland Fife. Is pronounced fife. I am Scottish.
One good way i found to get landed is to be a merc and save up loads of gold. Then you wait for the right opportunity to strike. When a city is conquered it's militia is reset meaning the amount of defenders will be very low- maybe 10 or 20 dudes. So you when you notice two factions are at war and a city/castle changes hands renounce you mercenary status and become independent, then declare war on whoever owns that city. You can do this by either raiding a town or just straight up attacking one of their parties, then hope you can quickly take the castle/town before they come to stomp on you. When you win find a noble and pay for peace. You might have to pay like 40-60k gold, the more nobles you can trade the better. Congrats you're now landed, at peace and can complete the create your own kingdom quest.
I know a lot of people have already made certain comments to correct some of the wrong info in the video but I thought I'd share my experience. I was awarded an entire city, Phycaon, with 0% support and me abstaining from the vote. I hadn't even done anything for my liege in that game and only had a minor relationship boost from being a vassal. I had only become a vassal a few days prior and was still just farming looters and desert bandits to rank up some Aserai horse archers. I was nowhere near Phycaon when it was captured. My experience is that the ruler decides who gets the goodies and that you are mostly just trying to swing the odds a little more in your favor. I do believe that rulers are less likely to give land to people who already govern 1+ provinces over landless vassals as happened in my case. Having voted on several subsequent allotments of fiefs I will say that lords tend to go with the council if all other factors are equal (Clan rank, # of fiefs already governing, etc) and that the council vote does have significant weight. However there is still the wild card element or a landless caravan owner who had nothing to do with the city still gets the city.
I was so confused when I scrolled on two castles and found out they were mine. I didn't participate in the siege or the vote and I must missed the notification. Seriously that left a sour taste in my mouth for the game.
There's a few things you misunderstood, given how vague it is, but basically the king of a faction always aims to have X number of castles, for generating the wealth to upkeep his army. If he is under that amount, he will nearly always grant the castle to himself. Once he has enough, then it distributes to others, on a relation and need basis. You already had 1 castle, and your renown isn't high enough to secure more castles basically, so king will grant to someone else higher ranked.
With the Vote the Percentage at the bottom is support for that character, This generally means that the person with the highest gets it but the Leader still gets the final say and can give to whoever he chooses, hell often give it to his buddies, himself and the Leader seems to try give vassals some responsibility/reward which is why getting your first City can seem easy but struggle to get support for a 2nd
I think this video has a lot of miss information. I don't think it is bugged as you state. I don't think it matters how much you do in the siege, it all goes down to the politics, and relations ship simulation, and the kings decission. You get percentage of votes, you can use influence to affect it too, but in the end, the ruler decides, and can turn over the majority vote with bunch of influence. That's my experience with it so far.
I've just randomly gotten 2 castles and 4 villages while I was just fighting the west empire...And it helps if you vote for the same people and make allies that vote for you.
This was pretty helpful. I also joined Vlandia and I realized one day that they gave me a castle. I didn't vote on it, didn't take it over, didn't take part in taking it over, it's just mine. No idea how it happened.
Hey there. Thanks for the video. I guess it's very good for starters getting to see, how some mechanics work out. I've put up quite some playtime myself so i'm sharing my bit of experience here aswell. My first "playthrough":(Ver 1.02) I became a vassal of Vlandia and got a castle right away, even though i wasn't part of taking it. Afterwards, all the castles went to the same clan over and over again. If he was part of it or not. 2nd Playthrough: (Ver 1.03) Nearly same as the first. Got to grab a Town and a castle, but i was part of it when it had been taken. Afterwards, no more and always the same clan has been into votes, if they've been part of the siege or not. Then our Faction was on the verge of destruction, i choose to leave the kingdom, keep my fiefs and sided with another kingdom. As you said. That dropped my relation by -40 with a lot of clans. Sadly, those clans joined the same kingdom i was in afterwards and it started to happen again, that i was not given any castles/towns at all, cause i've not even shown up on the list. Funnily enough though, the same clan that did get all the feifs back at the old kingdom, now also got all the feifs in the new kingdom. Some where overruled by the ruler and he took it himself, but other than that, this clan has been in all the votes again. 3rd "Playthrough": (Ver 1.03) and (Ver1.04) It's just an earlier stage of the 2nd Playthrough i took a different route. I picked a 20-25 stack army (Cav + Archers) and hunted down looters in auto-resolve to get my renown up. I wanted to train an army anyways, so fighting looters in auto-resolve is the way to go, since you only get wounded ppl. Don't auto resolve against anything else, unless you don't care if you loose troops. Back to the topic. It took some time, but my renown(and money from loot) was sky-rocketing. I was at the stage were i already had above said 1 town and 1 castle. SInce i didn't fight any battles for castles or towns i wasn't in the vote, but i used these votes, to increase my influence with some clans. When i was satisfied with the relations i left the kingdom again, got hit with -40 relations to everyone, but at this stage i had a good relation of 60+ with many of them and my clan was Tier 4. I joined Vlandia this time and this has been different all over. I took part in sieges and was in the votes for nearly all of them. I hadn't enough influence to get them all but i took like 4 castles (lost one i freshly got right away and recaptured it) and 2 towns in nearly 3 hours. I even abstained to one, since i couldn't handle it all at once. Funny thing, the ruler overruled the decision of 90% for the other clan and gave it to me anyways. My relation to the ruler was 3 by that time, so no pushing there. Some of the clans i had a good relation with joined the kingdom i was in, but in my votes, no other lord choose to put in his influence for me. (maybe cause i switched sides?) I gues turning up to a Tier 4 clan pushed me hard, yet i've also seen Tier 3 AI Clans getting a lot of fiefs just like that. Even saw the ruler owning 12 Fiefs, when vassals had like 1-2, some even none. I also noticed during votes, there are like military symbols next inside the leaders pictures, any idea on what they stand for? Is it how many influence points the candidate is throwing in? E.g. 1 cheffron for 50, 2 for 100, 3 for 300? In my picture i've never seen any and it seems to favor the vote for them. So my experience would be, building up renown as quickly as possible since it generates cash and clan tier. When you hit lvl 3 become a vassal, partake in some sieges and follow the advices in this video, if you're not in the votes at all, stop sieging, train your army with looters and try to attack single armies from the enemy and deafeat them. They'll most likely field recruits or lvl 2-3 troops, so you'll have much better trained soldiers. That way you can get away with 150 vs 200 and come out winning, with not as many losses since the AI just charges you when poked with some arrows. With these "skirmishes" you earn like 8-10 renown every fight. Even when you outnumber the enemy i got like 4-5 renown. So this is good leveling. Turn Tier4 and go at sieges again. Right now, this has been the way for me to work out best. Edit: And since i read it in the comments (thanks for the reminder) and forgot about it. Release the lords after fights. This will gain you +2 or +3 relations every time. Just lock them away when they get annoying and raid your villages over and over again. I hope this was not too long of a text, just wanted to share my experience here, so maybe keep some frustration away from you, cause i was really desperate when i didn't get anything at all and others have been overthrown with feifs. Cause i know, i've been frustrated.....Thanks again for the video, thumbs up! Cheers, Muskelbiber
There is definitely couple bugs when it comes to kingdoms one of the big ones is the snowballing as well as I think how it works is if the faction leader have enough influence he will use it to overturn any vote to go to him as well as I have noticed sometimes when you take a castle by yourself it can go to a Lord that wasn't even there there's always other thing is you can do at a mercenary you can take them prisoner and let the Lords go to get a pretty good relationship boost by +2 so it can be a pretty good strategy that if your kingdom is losing the war you could switch sides and the people there would already like you but that's if you do not loot The villages
The percentage of voting for who the castle will belong to does not depend on what your contribution to the capture of the castle was. In my experience, castles and cities often depart to those lords who were generally absent during the siege.
the most efficient way of gaining a castle, should be by helping the interests of a nobleman who is a friend of the king who rules the nation that is at war with the nation that controls the castle you want. it's probably the slowest and longest, but also the most profitable and less risky. show up in a village and help the people... they'll talk of that to their lord, the lord will befriend you, he'll take you to the king, and he'll take you up as vassal *already* with recommendation from one of his friends. you can still attack and claim a castle for yourself at any point, if you don't serve any king, but that's the hardest way.... you need men, equipment, skills and whatnot. might as well join a kingdom and have THEM take the castle and then influence the king to give it to you.
It sometimes also happens that the ruling lord gets the fief despite the vote and it will also prompt a message that the lord veto'd the vote against the wishes of the council
Hey I've had it go to me in a decision that I didn't have the top vote percentage for in the past. The main thing that you are not seeming to consider is the generosity stat that some characters have. If a character has enough negative generosity traits they will never give a castle away, might wanna look into it :)
Sovereign's decision : I do not think it is a bug, but rather a bunch of hidden variables. If the king/queen calculates that he/she needs more castles (or villages/towns) to assert his/her "rulership", the king/queen does not need to invest Influence as he/she has the veto power or sovereign right just to take the castle. BUT when the king/queen has enough holdings, the Influence *might* work a such if the requesting lord(s) "need" more fiefs. -- Likewise, as in M&B:Warband, if a lord already owns a castle or many holdings, the king/queen might also ignore the Influence vote and block a lord or lords from getting more fiefs.
BUT I see the math issue you point out in the video. There are other hidden variables. Maybe the game should give us more info about the hidden factors and minimal requirements (like the 50%+ Influence and you actually investing your own Influence you noted here). Hopefully, we can quicksave before this process :P (IDK) as clearly we do not see if we REALLY have a chance...
there was also a problem in Warband that if you went far enough into the game it would be impossible for the AI faction leaders to maintain good relations with their vassals so they would constantly defect. Then that lead to the faction leaders hording literally all the fiefs for themselves
When someone is decided on to get a castle despite it being against majority vote, it notes exactly that and tells you in the popup that the leader overruled the majority vote. For example, I owned a castle after fighting for it with an army and now, even if I completely ignore the warnings that it is under siege and just let my faction defend it for me or reseige it, I always get voted in (or overruled against the majority) to take it over again.
Soon as i joined as vassal to Vlandia i manage to get my currently first city Warcheg after Vlandian army that i joined and captured Warcheg there was no voting for some reason they just give it to me i had only small influence and neutral relationship with other lords and they still gived to me that city great!
The system to get a castle or town is not so different than in the games before, the new thing is the voting with influence. In M&B1 and the other parts the safest way to get something was to be a vassel, to have a good standing with the other lords and take part in the siege (+Kills and Army size). But if the leader wants/needs the castle or city he takes it no matter what. It´s btw explained in the tutorialmassage when you vote the first time, It´s a two step vote. The first is everyone and second is the leader, he has the final word on who get´s the fief.
In my play through I just joined the faction. Followed an army around took a castle, got moderate kill count. Checked out voting screen didn’t know what I was looking at. My character was one of the names to vote for but had 0% under it. I figured there was no chance of getting the castle so I abstained my vote cause I didn’t want to effect my relationships in the new faction. The ruler gave me the castle. Even with popular vote being 100% for someone else. My line of thinking was that the ruler wanted to make sure all his vassals has fiefs to keep them happy. Maybe this depends on rulers leading AI. My play through was also with Vinlandians
Ive noticed it seems like there is further voting after you submit yours. When you check the votes, those are the current votes cast. Probably wait until the last hour and then check the votes.
Nelson3300 they go unchecked the empire has a hard time facing their horse archers especially inexperienced units but they fixed some of the steamrolling in 1.04
On my save battania already dominated almost whole calradia and I had to make a new one... There was just Aserai on 2-3 cities and Khuzait on something around 4 cities left, other faction just disappered. Castle and cities garrisons are way too small as siege is even easier than it was in warband. Most of them end without taking big casualties, when u actually should take casualties when laying a siege.
@@wilmes24 I first noticed them take a few setlements around the southern empire, but I thought they were a minor faction due to my zoom scale... After some successful marauding and taking a castle, this army of like 400 shows up outta seemingly nowhere. I zoom out to see it's the same faction as the one in the east. fak.
The Northern Empire is the dominant power in my game at 20 hours in. They basically destroyed the other 2 empires and own the entire middle of the map.
My experience with castles is quite different. After capturing and executing leaders and members of lesser factions I joined Vlandia. After that they declared war on Sturgia and after capturing one castle they instantly gave it to me with 100% support. Than they captured another castle and again gave it to me. I have no idea why, maybe because I have killed like 3 lords and donated another one to the dungeon. Also I did join the lords faction army during the siege of one of the cities.
I noticed in Warband, if you become a mercenary an enemy kingdom prior to becoming a Vassal for your chosen kingdom..it was much easier. For example..If I wanted to become a vassal for the Nords(endgame), I would choose the Vaergers or Swadia as a mercenary. Campaigning for Swadia, I would encounter Nords(that Swadia was at war with) and would fight them. Upon victory, always release them. Your honor would increase quickly with the Lords/Jarls that would eventually become my allies. If/when you chose to become a vassal for the Nords, you had a large amount of lords that were friendly to me. If you decided to form your own kingdom later, many would follow you. I am interested to see if this mechanic is also useful in Bannerlord.
With getting castles i saw that the leaders do not always do what the council desires. This can cause people to leave. I think each leader has their own personality and you can use that to your advantage. For example: i was part of one kingdom and i could see he regularly took the castle vote against the will of the other leaders or voted for policies against the will of the other leaders. I eventually left and went to another kingdom. Later we went to war with those i was previously with and got dialogue options to saw that the leader was not trustworthy and overall was not a good leader. The guy i was about to get in a fight with ended up leaving his kingdom and joining ours. I'm not sure if thats just how the carisma skill works out or if the terrible decisions of the leader made that play out that way but it was pretty cool to see.
The king can over rule the decision of the council and take the castle or city for himself it costs the king, or faction leader influence to do so. One of the policies makes it cost more influence for the king or faction ruler to over rule a council decision.
@13:50 you mention that you have to spend influence to receive a fief, this is incorrect. My first 2 castles i gained from the Aserai as their vassal were actually decided without me even opening that window. In addition, i didn't fight in those sieges as well and yet they came right after eachother to my possession! funny sidenote: I noticed i had a castle when the 2nd castle ownership message popped up, i were like: ooh what, a castle?! yess!! "opensup the fief window" what?! i got 2?! :p
If you are a vassal and you are thinking that you can start building the foundations for your future empire, think again. To make your actual empire (first complete that foley quest) you need a settlement to be yours (empire or non-empire depending on that branch of the quest you chose). If you are a vassal, and chose to be released from the rulers oath, you will lose all fiefs you hold on his/hers name, meaning: have to start from scratch with conquering said castles, towns... At least this is what happened to me in a previous build (under 1.07 I think). Maybe they fixed that.
if you have none and others have some already, you get random places. usually based on relations with the lord. he will randomly give you places even if your not the one in the sieges.
For the castlepart -> I never was part of a faction, waited till I saw the southern empire going to war, took one of their castles and besieged it, and kept it to myself xD :D
I noticed in a couple of your campaign videos that Khuzait have dominated the Eastern side of the map. What if you wanted to try to slow them down by employing a slash/burn policy of their villages to knock them back a bit economically or would that cost too much influence to your character?
The only problem is that it takes so long to get to their towns in the backside of the map :( but it could work. The best way to beat them is just to employ a ton of archers and a few infantry in square formation.. Keep archers on loose and they'll shoot things apart
A sneaky way of getting your own city or castle is to raise an army with an allied faction, besiege it , then leave the empire and take it back for yourself. Although this comes with a price.
I have noticed that the AI will take location of the fief and power of the lords involved. There has been instances where I would dump 300 influence into a vote to give a town to a friend, with majority vote, and great ol' Monchug granted me 3 consecutive towns even though I desperately didn't want them (I was getting spread way too thin, bordering both enemy factions). I can only assume this was because all of these fiefs were localized around my one settlement and 2 castles with beefy garrisons.
I think you may know this answers now, but I write for the others. The king decides, even despite the %, that's what you call 'bug'. If the king is generous it willl give more castles. Maybe in that update it wasnt explained when you move the mouse over the two yellow balls below. The last decision is from the king. Also, you can be a mercenary of any faction and dont get anger from others if you just dont raid villages, you still will get it from attacking a castle or town by your own, but not if you are part of a an army.
My story in mbb2 so far. After sometime spent in the arenas I earned enough money to fund my own army. Fast forward a few months, Many battles and a few lessons later I’m now a mercenary for the high king of sturgia. Early on I decided that if I’m going to fight for a king I’m going to fight to win. What does this mean? Execute all captured leaders, As this removes the opportunity for their leadership to learn and grow. Well 3 minor wars later minor 4 clans entirely destroyed in my King’s name I finally pledged as vassal. The very next castle we took (I was on the other side of the world buying horses and recruits at the time of the siege) I absteined from the vote as I was not involved and yet was awarded the castle by a very gracious king.
Have you done any tests regarding capturing castles when you are not a vassal? would be curious to see how it goes when you are an independent faction. obvs a lot harder to do, but may enable us to see kingdom screen as a ruler.
easiest way ive found to ensure you get the fief, is siege a castle/city not connected(not near your factions current fiefs) like if your faction owns ocs hall, pravend and rovalt if you siege mazhaden castle usually no other lords spend their influence on it,
If you notice, each faction leader has his own personality quirks. The guy from Sturgia will almost always give himself castle/fiefs since he is Closefisted. Meanwhile, Derthert is just Cautious. I believe that has an effect. Were your earlier tests all with Vlandia or others?
I've found the opposite as far as getting rep as a merc against a clan you may want to faction for. If you are a mercenary against the faction you want to vassal for you can build significant relations by fighting them and then releasing the lord as your prisoner. Can get quick relation 2-4+ with Lords when you do this and when you fight big armies its that times multiple lords. You just cant play too aggressive with them and only works when you are mercenary for the little guys who are being overrun. Otherwise you could hamper the faction you're trying to cultivate a vassal with. You obviously cant take territory this way but its a good way to gain money, influence, renown, reputation, level troops etc while managing the map so a clan wont steamroll.
@ItalianSpartacus interestingly last night I took part in a romping around I was just stomping around in the war zone on my own murdering armies, and I came across my faction leaders army right as he was intercepted by the enemy's bigger army. So I dived in and was able to swing the battle. So I had saved my faction leader twice from defeat as I had done so a day or so ago. Anyway after the fight we did the whole chat thing and he said 'once again you have saved my life , and thank you my friend'. I then stayed with his army and we went on quite the crusade, at the end when the army dissolved I went on my thing again and suddenly I noticed I was gaining alot of gold per day. Way more than I was before the fighting. Checked the I come list and I had been given a town, 2 castles and 7 villages. I never bored for anything anywhere. They were just given to me, I presume for my efforts in the war/battles.
The reason it seems buggy who the castle goes to is because the final say is still up to the ruler. Someone can have 100% but if it's a castle the king wants he can still take it for himself
Hey how do you be a candidate of the voting thing? I took an entite city with 2 other lords and a completely new lord that wasnt even part of the siege got the city
@Zwenk Wiel I joined the Northern empire and participated in 5 or more castle sieges and I was a candidate twice with 0% support, while the castle always went to the leader or the most powerful vassals who already had multiple castles. The only reason why I got my only castle so far is because I spend 100 influence and forced the vote to be split 33% each way.
That -20 hits hard when all you wanted to do is a little guilt free apolitical reaving. TW should either lower it or introduce a seasonal contract system.
On your comment on you not possibly getting it if you don't influence the vote, I have been given a castle before without even participating in the siege for it as I was busy sieging another city. I believe this was because I married the faction leaders daughter and had done multiple quests for fellow lords and so both the faction leader and other vassals liked me quite a bit.
it seems there are a lot of factors that need digging. I'm sure, in the coming weeks, with more patches, this will become fleshed out and i'll have to release an updated guide
whats an easy way to get clans to join your kingdom im finding it really hard to convince them also whats the best way to make money early on thats not running around trading for 50 days
Join the khuzaits Join one of their armies Steamrolll others gain rep sell loot Build ur own army defeat khuzaits enemies after an hour of farming stugians/empirials u'll have atleast 100k..
Some other notes:
-You don't need to participate in the siege to be a candidate for the settlement.
Thank you
Also, apparently, if you just joined in and don't have any land yet, they will rush for you to get some.
Help me out with that as I'm not 100% on it
On my previous playthrough, I had 10 fiefs with Clan on Tier 3 (2 castles, city and 7 villages)
Ravushimo Think he means castles and cities as villages are tied to them.
Thanks! This method saves a lot of time
Has been a good method for me aswell. I only sell leaders at the tavern at the start, which i have a bad realtion with anyways and don't care.
Think this changes based on your charm.. or another stat because when I release them I always get +5
i hope the mercenary system gets more like warband were the contract was monthly and in the end of that month you simply did not renew the contract without losing relation with lords because -20 is a bit steap for a simple mercenary to leave a faction i mean why would the lords care that mutch in my campaign vlandia has like 3 mercenary companies with them...
Yeah 20 is a little harsh. Maybe they can reduce it to 10 or so
@@Laudon1780 i would say that if a nation is at peace it makes sense they dont need mercs but if you are a part of a nation and they peace out in all fronts then you should be able to leave without a penalty or even dismissed by the nation itself...
Yeah I know what you mean the system warband worked better and made more sense
"And since I just stopped breast feeding yesterday.."
HOL' UP.
They fixed the losing 20 relation bug when ending mercenary contact
I heard the "breast feeding" comment, but I was nearly a minute into the video with a spoon of cornflakes raised halfway to my mouth before I stopped and said "Wait, what?".
I gathered together about 500 troops with like 8 nobles or something to capture a city, we successfully captured it and held off 3 attacks during the siege building process. I wasn’t even a candidate for getting the city lol.
Yeah this happens alot to me any idea of how to be a candidate?
F
@@garywijaya7653 Check the comments some guy wrote about it; apparently there's a fair play sytem where the difference of held fiefs between vassals can't get higher than 1.
Did you have fiefs already. You might have been at your clan max.
I’d lost all my fiefs by the time I captured the city. It was funny, gave the south empire the Dragon Banner, she gives me a city and a castle, whole world except Aserai declares war on us, lost all my fiefs in like a week. After that I sieged that city and took it.
This is how it went for me yesterday:
I swore alliegence to the Southern Empire, and joined Rheaga's army.
That might have to do with the policies of the Southern Empire, I think a few of them make it easier for more prestigious lords to get land.
Also when you first join a faction you are basically always put on the first feif grant for a castle/town as you are likely the only lord with no feifs
The check is:
1. landless lord joining the siege takes top priority, they will get most support even if he just knock the gates and dies shortly after.
"still a little bugged" coz of a 95% miss? if you tell this to xcom players, they'd be like : that's not a bug, that's a feature.. hahaha
hahahaha "95% miss, XCOM feature"
I sometimes still get upset over my favorite sniper, who had been in my squad since day 1 and was just about maxed out, dying after missing TWO 95% shots in a row.
Thankfully my controller throwing phase was over by that point or it surely would have been embedded in the wall lmao.
I love how everybody always pulls out xcom when discussing percentage. That game is a mathematical legend.
(on the vote screen)
Rulers can and will go against the majority and either hand it to the lesser candidate or themselves.
The AI will decide to be nice to you on occasion if you cant change the vote. I had 1% support for getting Odokh, but Rhaeggea gave it to me
Rhaeggea seems quite generous. I have gotten 3 castle and a town even though my influence is sub 100.
Ha lol I also own Odokh
Wish this castle guide actually showed what you do when you get a castle.
You sir, are going to be the reason why I do so well in Mount and Blade: Bannerlord 2.

Since I also pay attention to the color, because I don't want my soldiers to be pink, I especially choose the realm that has the coolest color.
What a pity. Thanks for your videos!
Some of my experiences with getting fiefs:
- I feel like the percentage chance for getting a castle/town is much higher if you were involved in the siege, even higher if you led the army yourself but you can still be a candidate if you were not involved.
- It seems more likely that you are nominated if you already hold a fief in the general proximity( I held two fief in the north and when a random army took another city close by I got nominated with majority support. I never was on the list for castles on the other edge of the empire though)
- If any lord in your faction (including you) lost a fief and it gets recaptured I believe it has a higher chance to go back to that lord.
Can you do a castle management video? Really struggling with food on mine and over time that lowers my prosperity
It's not just you it's it's bad game balance. You can download a mod to fix alot of the blance issues
Yeah there's a huge problem right now lmao, build the lime thing for food. Also you can resupply your city with food by selling it to the trader. Strangely counts. I spent like 20k on food every few months or so lmao
I am not experiencing such issue at all. I have a catle and a city and both are fine foodwise.castle make +2 and city +27
villagers are bugged.
Every village I conquered turned poor for no reason, and building lv 3 mill and other things and waiting many days didn't help at all.
Laws affect prosperity and other things a lot.
Really nice guide - cheers!

Apparently, if you just joined in and don't have any land yet, they will rush for you to get some. Well, I fought for Vlandia for a really-really long time by that moment, so maybe they just liked me a lot.
here are a few corrections (from 1.0.4, also Vladian):
-as a vassal you will eventually get a fief even if you dont fight for it (I got a castle but didnt even realize it straight away), then I captured a city and got it by influencing the vote.
"-as a vassal you will eventually get a fief even if you dont fight for it (I got a castle but didnt even realize it straight away),"
You propably just missed the election (it will happen without you, if you don't check it in time), it isn't quaranteed.
You can only get third fief if you increase your clank tier
Something very similar happened to me in the Southern Empire. Though I did fight in the battle for what ended up being my city, I didn't even look at the voting screen because I had basically no influence. Then after forming my own army and conquering another city and two castles, I wasn't even on the docket for those, and they ended up going to a lord who already had several fiefs. I feel the system is still a little wonky
@@Shaehl I just ranked up to 3, so ill be able to confirm it myself soon. probably is the case.
@@Explicitghost i couldn't start my own kingdom.
At least not without using developer console. And even then, nothing really worked
@@Explicitghost thats a bummer... guess ill just keep capturing castles till its all fixed haha.
@@user-wq9mw2xz3j You have to talk to either the Empire lady or the other guy after you complete all the objectives. It is easy to miss because its not marked.
well this sucks. i wanted to start my own not become a vassal
That wasn't a bug but a feature.. The monarch can overrule the votes. You may have realised the report that goes "this castle went to lord .. and caused a split between the council" or something like that. And also, there's a policy in the kingdom menu where the monarch can have to lose less influence when overruling votes.
I think its “feef” not “fife”
Oh shit. I'm sorry!
oi yoa gawt a fifer on ye?
Nick Olivar spen’ iyt daon tha bookies didn oye
Fife, which is the word for County in Scotland. Is pronounced “Fahyf” to the Scottish. I thought it was as Eliphas said, as I am from England. But I decided to look it up, so you are actually correct in your pronunciation :) @ Italian Spartacus ;)
@@MattGilmourMusic no he isnt. Its pronounced the same as thief, fiefdom which is used alot and youve probably heard is pronounced thief-dom.
Also the county in scotland Fife. Is pronounced fife. I am Scottish.
THANK YOU! I have been running around all day!
I think the most secure way will be through the trade skill
Thanks!! I really needed this!
My first "playthrough":(Ver 1.02)
I became a vassal of Vlandia and got a castle right away, even though i wasn't part of taking it. Afterwards, all the castles went to the same clan over and over again. If he was part of it or not.
2nd Playthrough: (Ver 1.03)
Nearly same as the first.
3rd "Playthrough": (Ver 1.03) and (Ver1.04)
It's just an earlier stage of the 2nd Playthrough i took a different route.
(maybe cause i switched sides?)
I gues turning up to a Tier 4 clan pushed me hard, yet i've also seen Tier 3 AI Clans getting a lot of fiefs just like that.
Cheers,
Muskelbiber
There is definitely couple bugs when it comes to kingdoms one of the big ones is the snowballing as well as I think how it works is if the faction leader have enough influence he will use it to overturn any vote to go to him as well as I have noticed sometimes when you take a castle by yourself it can go to a Lord that wasn't even there there's always other thing is you can do at a mercenary you can take them prisoner and let the Lords go to get a pretty good relationship boost by +2 so it can be a pretty good strategy that if your kingdom is losing the war you could switch sides and the people there would already like you but that's if you do not loot The villages
mrbladesletplays you can not loot them but I enjoy shooting myself in the foot
My allies won a battle for a city then voted me to be in charge of it, was pretty lucky!
Omg that opening line
Soon as i joined as vassal to Vlandia i manage to get my currently first city Warcheg after Vlandian army that i joined and captured Warcheg there was no voting for some reason they just give it to me i had only small influence and neutral relationship with other lords and they still gived to me that city great!
You should do a video on creating your own kingdom and steps to follow on how to create it
That's next :)
You are a godsend my friend
That eastern faction seems to be dominating everyone's campaign lol
Nelson3300 they go unchecked the empire has a hard time facing their horse archers especially inexperienced units but they fixed some of the steamrolling in 1.04
On my save battania already dominated almost whole calradia and I had to make a new one...
There was just Aserai on 2-3 cities and Khuzait on something around 4 cities left, other faction just disappered.
Castle and cities garrisons are way too small as siege is even easier than it was in warband. Most of them end without taking big casualties, when u actually should take casualties when laying a siege.
FreshuPL ;3 in mine battania has 3 cities left, khuzaits took a couple from northern and the southern took most of the aserai cities
I was wondering how to become a mercenary so thank you for this
Thanks for making this!
Priceless information for new players and war band vets.
That fucking intro, wauw. Straight to the good stuff huh? You don't miss a beat dude.
I was given Ov Castle and Omor City as a result of the automatic resolution
I approve this vid. You magnificent sparkling beast.
Maybe they fixed that.
can you take over the faction as a vassal (overthrow the king)?
I'm not overly sure, but I'll test it. I'm sure you can.
@@italianspartacus I remember reading that the dev said there is a way. Idk if its implemented, great video btw
if you have none and others have some already, you get random places. usually based on relations with the lord. he will randomly give you places even if your not the one in the sieges.
For the castlepart -> I never was part of a faction, waited till I saw the southern empire going to war, took one of their castles and besieged it, and kept it to myself xD :D
Also if you want to get cheap influence, donate prisoners to an ally's dungeon or troops to a garrison.
There is a forced balance in the number of fiefs owned by vassals, you can't have too much.
If you have castles or town directly next to the one just taken, you have a chance to get that land.
If you are a mercenary they pay you 15 gold per 1 influence? So if you had 2 influence they would pay you 30 gold per day, or how does that work?
Do you know if there is a way to hire mercenary companies like the Skolderbrotva?
I'm doing that now :)
easiest way ive found to ensure you get the fief, is siege a castle/city not connected(not near your factions current fiefs) like if your faction owns ocs hall, pravend and rovalt if you siege mazhaden castle usually no other lords spend their influence on it,
If you notice, each faction leader has his own personality quirks. The guy from Sturgia will almost always give himself castle/fiefs since he is Closefisted. Meanwhile, Derthert is just Cautious. I believe that has an effect. Were your earlier tests all with Vlandia or others?
All with Vlandia!
Lol italian you are low key actually so funny. That breastfeeding quip at yhe start had me chuckling
Gary Wijaya 👆this! ;)
Could you please do a "How to manage your Feifs/Castles" video? Kinda struggling keeping my fief prosperous.
Join the khuzaits
Join one of their armies
