I listened to the Terry Gross interview with Frank Zappa because of this episode. He does the interview to promote his book and one of her questions was if he cheats on his wife with groupies. I’m surprised Frank even finished the interview. Anyways, love the show. Ciao

I don’t question anyone disliking Zappa and/or his music, neither are for everyone, but I have no idea what Flansburgh found so “toxic” about his interview with Terry Gross. He was entirely cordial, even with her more presumptuous questions and judgmental premises (and I say that as a fan of what she does too). What was so objectionable?
I also wanna say I remember the dead celebrity bit! When they played in Tucson forever ago they pretended to call Chilly. They made a joke about how she's still alive too it was pretty great
We should know enough now to definitively determine if they are giants or not. What is with this ambiguity after all this time? Do they climb beanstalk? Do they use their likeness to sling green beans?
Dude- my first live show was the Monkeys show too, Dubuque Iowa. Herman's Hermits and Gary Puckett opened. I got mono. Those guys were like the pop-music version of Johnny Appleseed, cultivating the ears of gen x'ers for future classic rock radio stations.

I checked out the Terry Gross interview with Zappa, he was a bit arrogant, but it wasn't nearly as rough as the Gene Simmons interview.
