Anyway, my favourite F1 helmet is that of Gianni Morbidelli's. Colours that pop, and a simple but striking design.

No questioning on who's number 1... I would also say many of Vettel's helmets during his Red Bull days were eye catchin . Also Kimi's helmet designs are awesome especially the McLaren and his current Ferrari helmets.

What is so nice about a full red helmet like thousands of others exactaly like the same? Or his benneton helmet that is like other 100 helmets from drivers in the 90s?
I just missed Lauda's and Piquet's helmet. But I agree Senna's is number one.

My all time favs: Ayrton's, Gilles' and Elio's helmets These are top ones with their simple and cracking design. Sennas especially in McLaren years was just unbeatable.Iconic ones: Elio/Jean, Nigel, Alain, Niki, Keke, Stefan, David, Mika (H) Graham/Damon, Ricardo, Michael earlies, Fernando (espec this years Indy) Clay. No Fernando Alonso helmet? SERIOUSLY? It is by far one of the most beautiful helmets out there!! Rarely has it changed and is easily recognizable!!!

Nelson Piquet and Senna’s
Two of the most easily recognisable and in Piquet’s case unique and quirky helmets.

Definitely agree with number one. Even during his career, Senna's yellow helmet stood out and was iconic. It's taken on new significance since his passing. As others have said, back then drivers kept a design through their entire career, or at least with minor tweaks.
Patrick Depailler should be on this list, his helmet design was ahead of his time. And Gilles too

these were the best ever.... once were all identified,
now they are all ridiculous, no one has its own personality,
from a distance they all look alike
A Top10 where you know the winner after seeing number 10 and 9 is kinda bad...sure Senna's helmet design is very recognizable and it sure belongs to this list, but there are other designs that are better and definitely deserved to be on this list, like Raikonnen's Monaco Helmet, the golden Schumacher helmet and if you go for patriotism you should announce Jenson Button's helmet for sure which contains his intitials and the union jack (an argument you brought for James Hunt and David Coulthard).

But the coolest and most creative IMO was Piquet's.

Graham/Damon Hill. Best ever. Simple,yet striking and identifiable even in b&w photos.
I actually like Graham Hill's and Sir Jackie Stewart's helmets. Just nice simple designs.

I have to say Vettel's Night Helmet that is amazing and should be nro.1 and it is not just because Vettel but Seriusly Stewart Helmet.... and Senna's helmet just look so Simple. Don't hate you can wear a helmet full of Stick man's and it's not mean you can't win.
Funny, the older and more simple Helmets are the most iconic ones.....But its pretty clear. Todays helmets are so overloaded with collor and bling-bling that you dont recognise them anymore.

I can't deny that Ayrton Senna's helmet deserved to be # one, but why no mention of the earlier truly simple yet recognizable helmets like Jim Clark's solid black helmet with white visor? As Clark was my boyhood hero, I wore a solid black helmet with white visor when I rode my Honda 90.

Vettel has had some amazing helmets over the years and some not so nice ones but I suppose the variety alone is a feat
La verdad es que como extraño las temporadas donde los pilotos usaban los diseños de cascos que usaron toda su vida , como el de Ayrton Senna , Nigel Mansell, Nelson Piquet, Alain Prost y un largo etc ,etc, hoy en dia los diseños cambian como si cambiaran de ropa interior o peor, digo los colores y diseño del casco eran algo que te daba arraigo con el piloto ,como el escudo o lo colores de un equipo de futbol , en fin es mi punto de vista personal y que cada quien piense lo que quiera.

I agree with Senna's Helmet as the Number one. Another Helmet that I liked really a lot was Nigel Mansell's one but it isn't in the list

How about a video that reflects a drivers personality before the corps told them what they're allowed to think, like Jody Scheckter, Hans Stuck, Mario, Nelson, the connection between the driver and the helmet scheme used to be obvious, guess I'm just another old timer complaining about the old days... and by the way, Hans helmet would make me nervous if I see him in the mirror at Sebring.
