"Totentanz" means dance of death in German. It is based on the fairy tale of the Pied Piper of Hameln. A rat catcher lured the rates out of the city with his instrument. When the village people refused to pay him, he lured all the children away with his songs. :)
I am So excited to make this deck. Thanks for the early Christmas present! Always amazes me how content creators know how to incorporate so much synergy into these decks
Glad to hear you enjoyed the build and, to be fair, since Rakdos arguably has the best Arstocrat's pieces and definitely has the best rat support, our friend Totentanz here us absolutely spoiled for choice when it comes to builds - which is not too shabby for a uncommon commander.
A great theme for a terrifying folklore character, not to mention some fantastically flavorful cards! I'm surprised I haven't seen more of Totentanz yet.
Ferocity of the Wilds would be very nice here. Deathtouch and Trample are a potent combo as you noted with Wave of Rats, and Ferocity of the Wilds gives +1/+0 too so you'll get at least one damage per attack unless your opponents are willing to double block rat tokens.
I definitely want this deck, I know I have urbog and cabal coffers so I think I might take out a swamp and the filter land for those two. Not completely sure on that, I have a Marrow Gnawer deck I can use the commander for and I suppose buying Purphoros would be a nice upgrade to my other decks too
I know the Jurassic park cards don’t quite fit the cut-rate commander deck, but it would be fun to see one of the Jurassic park commanders! My vote is for Owen, raptor trainer and blue, loyal raptor
Finally, a rival to AristoCats! Bad references aside, amazing video as always! Now as for my vote... something compels me to pick the Mycotyrant. The shrooms I smoked an hour ago? I dunno. Day 845 of waiting for the face reveal... say, have you watched Hbomberguy's latest video? Cause it is... quite the doozy.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it! And I'm sure the mind control spores you inhaled previosuly had nothing to do with voting for our new fungal overlord, so I wouldn't worry about it. Honestly, I had not heard of Hbomberguy previous - but it his plagerism video looks interesting (since there has been a lot of that going around on youtube these past few years). I've watched a bit of it and enjoyed it, but sadly 4 hours is a but much for more to take watching content when I have my own to make. Maybe I'll watch the rest bit by bit over the holiday.

I knew about the Pied Piper but not of the meaning behind his name. The more you know!
That's a true story. The city remembers those lost. He used moldy rye flour for its hallucinogenic properties on the rats, then the children.
This is an example of why I really like Eldraine. The references to European folklore and fairy tales lend the plane a very fun flavor.
