I got a marble from a student one year. She really liked that marble, herself.
I still have it, 12 years later.

I work as a substitute teacher at my son's school and of the two days i worked this week i saw cookies being handed out to teachers in the main office, a spread of different food such as bagels, fruit, cupcakes, candy etc in the teachers lounge. Someone dressed up as a cow and went to every classroom to gift a Chick-fil-A gift card ro every teacher etc. I have also gifted my sons teacher, speech, paras and OT teacher too. The atmosphere is great in this school, i enjoy working there as a substitute teacher. My husband is a teacher at a high school and he was promised a cook out on Wednesday so he didnt bring lunch that day and they cancelled it due to possible rain and had to reschedule it for a different day this month. I asked if he happened to get any thank you notes from his students (he has over 100 students), he said "just headaches." It is different in every school unfortunately for teachers appreciation week.

I’m not a teacher, but I was once a student and as I’ve gotten older, my appreciation for my teachers grows bigger every year.
I’ll be 50 in July and the other day unexpectedly encountered my first grade teacher! I couldn’t believe that she was still around and was as spry as she was. She’s in her mid 90’s and just as mentally sharp as ever.
This was the woman who instilled the love of learning in me. Her favorite thing to say to us kids was “LOOK”. Her reason for that was by really looking deeply at something, we can see things that we didn’t know were there.
To this day 44 years later, I still hear her telling me to “LOOK”. It’s one of the reasons I love to go to museums because there is lots to LOOK at and learn from.
I’m forever grateful to Mrs. Brodbeck and all of my teachers. I had a bunch of good ones.

When my kids were little, I volunteered in their Communuty School, plus on the parent council. We LOVED the teachers and showed great appreciation for all the staff all week. Gifts, snacks, a special lunch, prizes, thank you cards, etc. We did lots of extras for them throughout the year as well. I loved being part of that school environment.

I've been a substitute teacher for over a decade, never receiving anything for teacher appreciation week, which I get. Then once, I received a huge gift basket left by a teacher in her classroom when she knew I'd be there that day. I about passed out from unexpected surprise.

I had a phenomenal teacher in my first year of college, taking Algebra 1. It was my second semester with her. She was the first person to get the math to stick in my head. Some of the other students in the class were asses to her and actually complained about her teaching style - but they were in the minority and stuck-up little princesses.
After my algebra final, I stayed to see whether I passed. Ms. Z came out and told me I passed with an A. I shouted, jumped up and down, and then hugged her, telling her she was the best teacher I'd ever had.

Ughhh! I work in a poorer area so we don't get anything super fancy or expensive but the principal gave everyone with a gift bag with a t-shirt. It did have the school logo but it's cute, and a nice water bottle. We got flowers on Monday, Olive Garden Tuesday, Taco Bar from the PTO one day and more food on Friday😂. They like to feed us and feed us and feed us! I do appreciate this because the principal paid fro the Olive Garden and teacher bags and they do make a big deal about TAW. These stories are truly disgusting.

One year while I was a teacher assistant, the PTA served lunch. We were told on Monday that Friday we would have a special lunch. I started putting food on my plate, but was stopped. I was told it was for TEACHERS ONLY.

Last year a parent donated a bunch of Jenny Craig scales to give out for teacher appreciation. Nice way to tell teachers who give up their personal time to give and give to kids they are appreciated. Basically telling us to take care of ourselves with the little time we had left in our personal lives after doing all the things and spending money out of our own pockets. All just to be reminded how overweight we all are. I have that scale to help track how much emotional baggage I gain every week working in public education! Yay!

Our principal actually did an awesome snack spread where she bought 1-2 of every teachers favorite snacks. It was a wild spread: hot Cheetos, pickles, cake, fruit, charcuterie, root beer, monster energy drinks, all the snacks under the sun.

At a small private school west of Denver, the 15 parents in my kid's class got together to give the teacher a gift card for a spa day at our town's most luxurious spot... Tall Grass. It added up to about $300. We really appreciated our great teacher!

    Lauren,
One year, our principal ordered us Subway subs for lunch. Well . . .
He ordered four subs, each three feet long.
    That is 144 inches.
The problem: there were 140 teachers, NOT counting staff. That's just barely over one inch of sub per teacher.
It did not go well. That is a great understatement.
The principal, reluctantly, ordered some more, and announced over the PA school-wide that he didn't realize how much teachers ate, and some things that made us seem to be the ungrateful bad guys.

I am so grateful that my school has provided us with breakfast, lunch, and pm snack all week. From different places around town and few even came to us.
Thank you teachers for all that you do!!!

I use to say to people when I'm off duty, see the difference is you have to stress about 2 kids maybe a couple more maybe a couple less and then breath all day while I deal with 40 kids from 8 to 3 p.m. or longer so I think some thank you is in order that the little turkeys left with a smile today and all year.

My school has a lot of problems but they have blown it out of the water this week. Teachers received something every day. We got McDonald's breakfast, Starbucks coffee, Jason's deli, Chick-fil-A, Kona ice, and snack bags with candy and chips and cookies and chocolate inside. The only thing a student gave me was a single hibiscus blossom which is more than enough

I have a teacher friend who was about to go on 2 weeks vacation for her wedding. A parent sent her a gift via the child (1st grade). The gift was customizable undergarments from an adult store and a large bottle of burbon and another of some cheap wine.
I don't know who was more concerned, the teacher or the principal who had to keep the alcohol in her desk and report the gift to administration.

Daycare teacher on a staff with 10 teachers and three admin during covid the admin got us each a fun-size almond joy bar with a sticky note on it that said "your a joy to work with." Of the teachers me and two others were allergic to tree nuts, two were diabetic, another was allergic to just coconut, and one was allergic to chocolate. so 7 out of 10 of us could not eat them and when brought up to the admin the director responded with oh we forgot. that place was awful enough that when I hit my breaking point a few weeks later every other teacher also put in their notice within a week. 6 months later it got shut down

In my previous school, a public school in an affluent area, we got a stale donut and a happy teachers' week email. Parents and kids did not acknowledge it. I switched to a private school this year, and omg! This week has been amazing. We had dress down week, theme days where we got gifts, breakfasts, and lunches every day. Little treats and Starbucks were delivered randomly throughout the week, and yesterday, we got a $100 bonus check.
My friend at my previous school called me and said, "They didn't even give us a stale donut this year. Did your school do anything?" I didn't even want to tell her about my week.
Today is the last day, we are getting a food truck and admin is paying for all of our lunches, we have a breakfast buffet happening, and the principal bought us all a gift for our classrooms. I am friends with one of the room moms and apparently all the parents are buying the teachers flowers. I don't know, we shall see! But I was talking to the principal last night and told her that I have never felt so appreciated in my life!
