  • Geoffrey Rossano, "Striking the Hornets’ Nest: Naval Aviation and the Origins of Strategic Bombing in World War I," Eight Bells Book Lecture, Naval War College Museum, Feb. 11, 2016.
One of the first dedicated strategic bombing programs was developed by the Northern Bombing Group in World War I. Although the Armistice prevented the implementation of the bombing, the exercise of establishing the logistics and organization needed in the effort was not lost on those who would resurrect the plans for use in World War II.
