It seems like everyone has forgotten that Robert Lightwood's parabatai, Michael wayland, was in love with him. And Robert has regretted how he treated him when he found out. That's one of the reasons he agreed to help Emma and Jules.
That's sad, but think about it this way, if they were parabatai indeed parabatai, how do you think that would have gone for Ty? You know, with Livvy dying? Also, I think there would have been many cons to Ty having a parabatai as pros, considering the fact that he feels things more intensely than normal people. Imagine having to feel Livvy's pain or panic, or having to spend time away from her.
Julian sobbing over Livvys body is actually going to haunt me for life...I had to read the part over to make sure I didn't misread anything because...wow.
KourtReadsBooks the burden of proof always falls on the one making the claim. Since everyone believed Zara killed Malcolm, Annabelle needed to prove she was the one who did it.
RIGHT! I get that they trust Zara more than Annabel, but if they thought the sword wouldn't work on her because she was 'undead' then they should have tried Zara since there would be no doubt that it would work.
I think the argument that the sword wouldn't work was really an afterthought after she discredited Zara and everything was in chaos at that point, but I get what you say it would have helped a lot! I wonder what is going on with Magnus and the other warlocks...
Y'all... what if Julian loses it and tries to use the Black Book to bring Livvy back? He's said over and over again he would do anything for his family...
Zoe Lala I was literally about to comment this - Julian has been becoming slowly more and more dark throughout the two books, and I honestly believe he would use the black book to bring back Livvy (maybe because of the curse taking hold, but idk)
WHEN I SAW U UPLOADED THIS I WAS SO EXCITED TO FINISH EDITING MINE SO I COULD GO WATCH YOURS. LMAO ABOUT THE BABY THEORY. I'M SO PUMPED ABOUT IT NOW. LOL everyone ships Kieran and Mark, but I feel like Diego and Cristina are done because we spent so much time talking about how you can feel one way about each other at one time and then realize you've both changed and you can't go back to the way things were, you know? And Julian called Mark easy to love and then Kieran said that Cristina was easy to love AND SO I THINK THEY'RE DESTINED TO BE. SO MUCH AGREE ABOUT ARTHUR. I LOVE HIM AND IM SO BUMMED HE'S GONE
OMG FINALLY I FOUND SOMEONE WHO SHIPS MARK AND CRISTINA, their relationship is a beautiful healthy relation based on trust, respect and mutuality, its so refreshing.
at the end I started crying so much, partly because of Livvy, but mostly because of what it will do to Julian and the amount of grief that he'll probably feel.
Nayeli Trejo Same, i liked Livvy but just knowing how much the rest of the family is going to feel, epecially Ty (my bae) and how much Julian did to protect all of them just to see her die...God. my heart. The way Julian screams when he sees what's happened and how he holds her telling her to wake up. God damn it cassandra
I love how Cassie uses her series to portray different aspects of shadowhunters. TMI kind of glorified shadowhunting. However I liked how in TID you get to see (In the stuff that will says to Tessa in the first book) how racist and horrible some of the aspects of shadowhunting is. I love that vampires and werewolves were prominent in tmi, and technology and the invention of it was prominent in tid, and now we are focusing on faeries. Cassie set up the progression of the cold peace so perfectly. This was honestly her best work ever.
Hi friends! If you're stopping by just to talk about your excitement about Lord of Shadows, I'm happy you're here! Just be aware that there are spoilers in the comments section, so feel free to leave your own thoughts, but make sure you've finished before scrolling through the rest of the comments. Love you guys!!
Does anyone else see that Malcom and Annabelle love story is a foreshadowment of Julian and Emma's love story? >They both have been together since childhood >They both were somehow illegal >Malcom makes a deal with the unseelie king >Julian makes a deal with the Seelie queen >Julian has also said multiple times that he understands why Malcom did it and alluded to him doing it for Emma This will not end well it almost like Cassandra Clare is setting up her next villain, which is interesting because I know a lot of people are attached to Julian. This would lead to good vs. evil bc we would finally understand the evil side. IDK just a theory
i feel like everyone is so hurt by kieran since he betrayed the blackthorns in the first book but somehow i still can't hate him?? like?!? he's my cinnamon roll and he could burn down the world and i'd still love him?? this is sick but yeah thats just my opinion
Dewi Cahya Kieran is interesting because his motives were actually pretty pure when you look at them. He had grown up in (what we can assume) an abusive environment with basically nobody loving him and his own father gave him to the wild hunt as if he were nothing - so when he met Mark it was the first time he probably had someone loving him, and he was petrified of losing that when Mark left the Hunt. So as much as the whipping thing pissed me off, it didnt piss me off that much because I can see why Kieran did it. Plus he then killed the guy who whipped Julian/Emma so...its not as if he didnt realise it was a shit move.
SPOILER If it was the Unseelie King that took Annabel at the end, then he has the Black Volume since Annabel had it with her so we're even more screwed
Okay am I the only one who was really angry that Emma and Julian didn't even TRY to put an iratze on Livvy together? We all know they are extra powerful cuz they're in love and they managed to burn down a CHURCH! Couldn't they heal livvy with their extra powerful runes? Also, again something I haven't seen in anyone's reviews but somehow felt obvious to me is that Christina, Mark and Keirans relationship felt like a build up for a polyamorous relationship. I mean, Kieran and Mark are in love, Christina and Mark are practically in love, and we saw a lot of interactions between Christina and Kieran that was very romantic. And in lady midnight when Christina first sees Mark and Kieran kiss she feels a desire she can't explain, which is brought up more than once in Lord of shadows. So I definitely can see those three characters ending up together and I totally ship it.
They were in the middle of the clave? I think they didn't want anyone witnessing their strange magic and the fact that they're parabatai in love with each other. I dunno. I'm not sure but that's what I think. XD
Julian did try to put a healing rune but she died straight away and when shadowhunters die runes don't work and just fade away so it wouldn't have worked
just finished the boo and went to straight to your and Christine's booktalks! the last line of the book about the clock really got to me, bc of a couple pages back when livvy tells kit about the theory that when he clock chimes a certain hour that gateway to heaven opens, and then right after livvy dies the clock chimed and I imagined her soul going to heaven. I mean that couldn't have been a coincidence that Cassie put that in right!? UCH THE FEELS I CANT
I just finished this last night and the book ripped me into so many pieces! Ty was my favorite character. My son and I have some sensory issues. I am especially noise sensitive, so when Cassandra Clare hit on some of the reasons Ty needed the headphones I cried just to see that represented in a book.
My comment will have spoilers so if anyone hasn't read the book, scroll past this! Also Emma, I'm sorry but this is going to be insanely long but I feel like you'll appreciate it! I just finished Lord of Shadows a couple of hours ago and was so happy to see you'd uploaded this! I had to go to dinner right afterwards so all of it hasn't even sunk in yet! I really liked this book but TID is still by far my favourite, it is my favourite trilogy of all time, so nothing can really compare to it. I was absolutely dying when they were in the London Institute and there was all these references to Will Herondale (the actual loml) and also the characters in TLH, I am so excited for that series it's kind of ridiculous. I nearly passed out when Kit (and Tavvy it seemed like) could see Jessamine. Because I love TID so much I even ended up loving Jessamine so seeing her again made me incredibly happy and WTH HOW IS BRIDGET STILL ALIVE I'M YODELLING. One thing I find fascinating about this series (but it's also one of the reasons I don't like it as much) is the dynamic between the Blackthorns. I almost think it's too over-the-top and honestly, kind of unhealthy. You shouldn't be that wrapped up and isolated with one another. Julian shouldn't be willing to burn down the world just to save them. It's too much, it's too selfish, it's too insular. And also, his insistence on them all being together doesn't even make sense. Ty and Livvy (sob, but more on that later) are going to be 18 in three years and will presumably go on and move on with their own lives. Drusilla in five years. Granted, Tavvy has a long while to go but does Julian expect them to live together forever? I love my sister but my heart wasn't shredded in two when she moved out of the house. I understand, or at least try to understand the psychology of Julian. These are orphans so automatically they value each other more because they are all each other has, and Julian takes on a paternal role, they really are more like his children than his siblings. So I understand why he'd be so protective and so dedicated to them but I can't love someone who would honestly turn to murder if it meant that people he cared about didn't get hurt. Maybe some people find that really heroic and tragic (and part of me does too) but it's just a bit too much for me. Then again, I also don't have younger siblings and I'm not orphaned so I don't know how I would react in his situation but I know I wouldn't care about nothing and no-one except my own family. The world is massive, full of lots of families, not just your own. So I kind of struggle with Julian. In some moments I love him, in others I kind of think he's a bit too intense. What do you think of the dynamic between Mark, Cristina and Kieran? It feels kind of Herongraystairs but I also wonder if maybe a polyamorous relationship could be starting there but I don't know if that would be going too far? What do you think??? What I really enjoyed about this book as an Irish reader was all the illusions to Irish mythology, or maybe Celtic mythology in general. A lot of the names in Faerie felt really Irish to me, like the leanansídhe and the reference to Lir or Lear (the Children of Lir is a popular Irish myth) and there was a reference to a phouka, and it sounded to me like the Irish word "púca" which means ghost. So I loved all those little references to Irish folklore and mythology. Some thoughts I had about the rest of the book: -Gwyn and Diana? I SHIP IT SO MUCH WHEN HE KNELT BEFORE HER OH MY GOD. - I love the "Oh no there's only one bed" trope so much, all the times it happened to Emma and Julian! Also Magnus walking in on them was priceless. - Malcolm coming back *pretends to be shocked* It was a little shocking when Annabel killed him though, I thought the same as you did, that they would team up together. - OH MY GOD I'M SUCH AN IDIOT I DIDN'T EVEN THINK OF WHO THE FAERIE BOY COULD BE GAHHHHHH - Malcolm's diaries had me in tears, poor baby. - I completely read Arthur's death as a noble sacrifice. I think what Malcolm alluded to was said more about him rather than Arthur. - The discussion on what Shadowhunter family's mottoes were was hilarious. - When Ty was having a meltdown and Kit held on to him? Perfection. - I was so mad about the miscommunication plots in this. I wanted to scream at everyone "USE YOUR WORDS" and then they did and it was beautiful. I was so happy when Emma and Julian finally were open and honest with one another. I guess truth and lies is a big theme of this series? Or at least this book in particular. When Julian said the thing about breaking every parabatai bond ever my jaw literally dropped. The fact that he even considered it is another reason why I really struggle with Julian. - Emma had some incredible one-liners in this, I love her sense of humour. - Magnus and Tessa being sick is unbearable to me, if they're not ok come the end of this series I will riot. As TID is my favourite trilogy, Tessa is probably my favourite CC character and if she dies I don't even know what I'd do. Neither of them can die, I won't allow it. Jem just got her back and Magnus has a family, they cannot be sick. I'm also so curious too, why are they sick? Are they tied to something? Like the book or Annabel? Because she came back and it's unnatural is something being taken from the warlocks because they're immortal? Or have they been sicker for longer? Or could it be because of that blight in the Unseelie lands? Like could they have Faerie blood way back in their heritage? Does that make sense with the previous mythology? I haven't reread the books in a while so I can't remember everything. - Why is it illegal to see mundane doctors? I literally hate the Clave so much. - I also hate the Cohort. I think Cassie is very aware of the times she is writing in. Some very powerful messages in LoS. And now. My thoughts on the final chapter. I KNEW something mental was going to happen and because everything turned to crap in literally the last chapter I spent the whole chapter completely on edge and terrified. I thought that maybe the parabatai curse was beginning to work on Emma and Julian and maybe one or the other of them would kill one of the Blackthorn children without realising it, which was of course an unbearable thought. But the fact that it was Annabel was heart-breaking and I don't blame her, I can't blame her. She returned to the place where she had been tortured, she was probably experiencing PTSD and the Cohort were being so horrible to her I bet it all got too much and she just snapped. It didn't make the deaths any less heart-breaking but I feel for Annabel, she didn't do it on purpose but I feel like Julian or Emma is going to hunt her down and kill her. However, part of me doesn't think that Livvy is dead for good because there were so many illusions to necromancy and the Black Book of the Dead or whatever it was called, is there any chance they could use it to bring her back? I mean in other fantasy books it never works out, necromancy always makes them come back "wrong" so I don't know. Maybe it's final, maybe it's like you said, Cassie is really going there with the deaths but I still have a kernel of hope because I can't see how Julian, Emma and especially Ty could ever move past this. I should end this comment now. I'll finish with this quote from Arthur: "If you only believe facts and forget stories, your brain will live, but your heart will die."
I'm Irish too and I thought the same about the Irish names when I saw them! I don't want to jynx it but I don't think cassie would kill off jem/tessa/Magnus in a series that isn't like evolved around them
And I completely think the same I feel like you know how Julian would go to any lengths to protect his family 'quote Emma: 'Julian you're scaring me' I feel like the black book will be huge in this book Aswell like you said I don't think their just going to accept her death like that I think that maybe that tessa and Magnus are effected and getting sick is because as you said the faerie blight I think ! And with not being able to see a mundane doctor I remember in the book Diana when she was saying to gywn how she was transgender and (Catherine I think that was her name) had to swap her blood test results because of the shadow hunter blood (Angel) so I think that's why
I love and agree with your comment, and the parts about Irish mythology were so interesting. I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator called it a "puca" (not a fuka) so you might be right. Just a small pet peeve: you kept using "illusion" instead of "allusion". Unfortunately I don't see Livvy coming back; loss is a part of life and it would be wrong to portray necromancy in a positive light after all of this. It's going to be very hard for Julian and especially for Ty, he's going to need Kit more than ever. I think it's quite possible for Julian to go the evil route in the end, especially now after Livvy, there were just to many hints. I think he's shown as a parallel to Malcom, and the lenghts to which one can go to for love. He's always struck me as a bit creepy and obsessed, even in Lady Midnight where we see his studio full of pictures of Emma, but I still felt sorry for him in Lord of Shadows. Maybe Emma and his family will manage to reign him in in the end.
I think one of the most heartbreaking parts of Livvy's death is Julian saying "Livvy my baby please open your eyes." like that completely broke me into so many pieces and I couldn't breathe. I love Julian so much and he scares me, but I understand him on a really deep level because I would do anything for my family. Family has always been my main priority and when my parents were working I was the one help raise my brother and sister. Livvy, Ty, Dru, and Tavvy are Julian's children and that fact that the one thing he was focused on for the past 5 years was raising them and protecting them I can relate to. Julian's heartbreak was my heartbreak and honestly I do not know how I'm going to make it until Queen of Air and Darkness comes out.
It's got to be John Shade; Axel Mortmain's adoptive father; from The Infernal Devices; somehow still alive. Remember Shade was green and could have done a spell similar to Malcolm's to survive after being murdered by Shadowhunters. And I think him using the name "Shade" is sort of a "hiding in plain sight " sort of thing..After all, it is unlikely that anyone would recognize the name; as it was a hundred years ago and he didn't seem to be a really well known Warlock. I don't remember Magnus ever mentioning that he knew him, for example..
Jwlhyfer de Winter OH MY GOD I THINK ITS TOTALLY JOHN SHADE!! When I first heard the name I thought it sounds too familiar to be true but I couldn't recall why and now i know!!
So... I'm legitimately preparing myself for Magnus and Clary's deaths. I'm serious when I say I feel pretty damn dead inside just thinking about it. Clary is having dreams of her death. Magnus is having dreams again. Fish Magnus is dead. Magnus is sick and not waking up. I just... Wow. I don't know.
ShaeShae Hanson I have a theory on this. I think Magnus will self-sacrifice and die and then somehow come back. Je and Clary are both having death dreams, but I think Clary's might actually be about Magnus. Remember Magnus was 'messing' in Clary's head for years as she grew up and he even left his signature there. I think her dreams are to do with the impending death of the part of Magnus in her mind.
personally my favorite part was when Alec roasted Zara, I was like "you go baby Alec, protect Magnus!!!!" I loved all the TLH and TID references. My favorite ones were when Emma was in the room that had like pictures of Will and Tessa, and the Will and Jem height chart thingy, and the pictures of James Herondale, Matthew Fairchild, Thomas Lightwood, Christopher Lightwood and Lucie Herondale, and of course my absolute favorite picture, the one with Cordelia Carstairs holding Cortana and the quote in the back, "the wound is the place where the Light enters you" which is now my favorite quote. I freaking died when Livvy and Robert died and istg I've never hated someone as much as I hate Zara Dearborn, like no joke I just want her to leave and die.
I LOVE THE MIX BETWEEN THE INFERNAL DEVICES AND THE DARK ARTIFICES -They went to the London Institute and there were so so many references, like Bridget smiling to herself about the plate of scones (probably about Sophie and Gideon) and also Bridget is alive. -Jessamine was there and the books had "Will H" and "James Herondale" written on them -HYACINTH IS KITS FAERIE FRIEND AND SHE WAS IN CLOCKWORK PRINCE!! she is the one from the masquerade ball who told Tessa things about her mother, etc. -There are so many links with Kit and the Herondales, and his eyes are quite similar to Will's I think. -I kept thinking the green warlock in the robe was Ragnor or John Shade most likely, he was green too. -I think the shop that Kit, Livvy, and Ty got the ingredients to undo the binding spell was the shop that I think Will and Cecily or something went into in Clockwork Princess/Prince to get ingredients, but I couldn't find that part in the TID books. also I LOVE Cortana, and how it can shatter other blades but never break. IT SHATTERED THE MORTAL SWORD! I think it has some magic in it though, even is it is a sword of Wayland the Smith, it shattered Maellartach, made by Raziel, and killed a Rider of Mannan. I also think that Annabel is in league with the Unseelie King, it was hinted, and she didn't seem like she would have given them the Black Volume. Then at the end the King's symbol appeared. Edit: I saw in the comments something about Julian going down an evil route, and I really hope he does, it would be such an interesting twist.
I agree with you 1000% that TDA is Cassie's best work! It's been so amazing watching her writing advance with these series! TMI was my all-time favorite series and Jace and Clary my favorite couple EVER. But, I gotta say, TDA is now slightly above TMI as well as Julian and Emma becoming my favorite couple. I feel I'm betraying Jace and Clary by saying that and I love them sincerely deeply (and I swear to God she better be ok and get her happy ending with Jace and a bunch of their babies together!), but Julian is just precious and beautiful and he constantly breaks my heart. I feel the way Cassie's writing has improved is some of what makes this the case for me. The writing of their relationship is just so unbelievably beautiful and my all time favorite quotes come from Julian & the love between Julian and Emma! They NEED THEIR HAPPY ENDING!!! Julian needs a break and deserves the universe, which we all know is his Emma, his universe! Ugh, can he please be a real person?!?! This series is just so fucking good and I think Cassie's best work!!! I also think we should petition to not have our hearts left in shreads for TWO YEARS!!!!!!!!! Come on Cassie, this is such TORTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great review!
I don't really read this series, or any of Clare's books, though I did listen to the audiobook of City of Bones. I just really like hearing you talk. You're so passionate about this series and it's so precious.
Did anyone notice Bridget in the London Institute? She was also the cook in TID but I don't know if she could be alive. It's been at least 100 years... 🤔
Do you think Mark, Christina and Kieran will become a polyamorous relationship? I LOVE DIANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also I ship Ty and Kit so hard! I was so happy when Jessamine showed up. I predicted it. And I love her. Do you think Kit is a full blooded Shadowhunter?
I think what you were talking about at 13:26 with Malcolm denouncing Arthur's bravery was more meant to show how Malcolm, despite knowing the true meaning and importance of Arthur's actions, would still try to make Arthur doubt himself. I don't think the book was trying to take away from Arthur, so much as further illustrate the hardships of mental illness and how people are often discounted.
Man they like solved one problem.... Mark-Christina-Kieran.... But I love Christina and Kieran and that conversation in the Sanctuary and all their moments.... I'm so glad Emma made one of her adorable stupid jokes about a fairie-threesome, that was exactly how I was feeling .... The Julian being ruthless stuff is amazing to read about .... but if she uses the word ruthless one more time.... MAGNUS AND TESSA....... Jeam and Alec would be left all alone, that's so sad. I agree that Alec has come so far. I remember reading City of Bones and being so mad that the Cassandra Clare just created another one of those, hopelessly-in-love-probs-horrible-fate characters but man.....Malec forever. Fine Jaime and Dru cute but ugh no she's so young ... and even Cecily practically saying she knew who she wanted to marry at 15....haha Maybe they will defeat the Unseelie King in this series and leave Sebastians's kid (that Ash dude) for the Wicked Powers???? Julian's black eyes ....AHHHHH is he turning into a monster already??????
SEMI SPOILER ALERT 🚨 The whole book I was waiting for Ty and Kit to kiss. And IT NEVER HAPPENED IT WAS SO FRUSTRATING. But I get them taking their time and coming to terms with things and it was still really beautiful but I just wanted a kiss. Just a kiss
I haven't really seen anyone talk about Bridget in the London institute. Am I mistaken or wasn't she in tid? There was a scene where dru was bringing food up to jaime and it said something like "Bridget smiled like she was remembering something from long ago" like when Gideon hid all those scones under her bed so he could keep seeing Sophie. Is Bridget like immortal or something???
just wanted to add that when christina was singing to rafael, it meant soooo much to me! my mom used to sing that to me as well♡ idk made me super happy and representation is super duper important
On Robert Lightwood's reaction to the Parabatai situation with Jules and Emma...remember we got the story of his Parabatai Michael Wayland in MI...he fell in love with Robert when they were in school just before they joined the circle. So I think that is why he had so much empathy and Magnus knew that.
I have been anticipating your review because you love Shadowhunter stuff so much and seeing you get so excited makes me excited. Such a great review considering everything that happened in the book!
WHAT!!!! I can't with this.. I mean I did hate clary in the beginning in tmi but.. if shes dying.. WHAT NO. I don't know how to describe how im feeling. 😳
Nope it comes out in 2019 in 2018 Cassie is starting the Last Hours series the first book is coming out in 2018 Chain of Thorns. I believe the release is to mimic how the Infernal Devices books came out mixed with the release of the Mortal instruments books.
I couldn't be more proud of this book! Cassie just keeps getting better and I can't believe it! Kit and Ty I absolutely love and I love how Livy is so protective over her brother and tells Kit like he better not screw up Tys life by making him feel like you will be there for him if your going to leave cause that shows the bond with them and I love it. Clary better not die they better find another way around this subject because no just no way can she die I know Cassie pictures certain deaths but they can't kill Clary! Now I'm in love with the fact that Mark and Emma weren't like that love triangle like you were describing cause like you said those relationships can now grow. I love Dru and Jaime together really hope that is highlighted in future books and I love Dru being a little more pudgy and round being a girl who's always been overweight no matter what she tries her whole life being bigger than anyone else her age I have this true connection with her character. I'm not ok with Livys death! Like Cassie just really took that hilt and stabbed us in the hearts as well. It breaks my heart Diana can't be an institute runner because she is transgender it hurts my heart. Julian and Emma scenes I was with you I bawled my eyes out and I was screaming like she loves you but she can't say it and then emma killed one of the riders which completely proves emma is rare and has that blade which gives her to my option some unique strength and power and it works with her hoping only her. Which I'm guessing will have a unique moment in the future. Emma and Julian are finally telling the truth all the truth and now they aren't holding back and then Magnus oh god Magnus and this is why I love him so much Magnus has an understanding for them and is trying to help them. It shows his true character! (Omg your right he walked in on will and Tessa) Then you freaking find out that the warlocks are getting sick and no one really knows why! (Like WTF) omg please tell me Sebastian and the queen has no baby! This Better not be wicked powers and why does Jaime have it is this the object he was telling Christiana about?? Magnus is truly wise thought because know one has tried to get help they just tried helping themselves. I'm hoping that Robert will allow emma to go to the Mexico institute with Christina instead of somewhere random. (Aw I love how Alec mentions Magnus can be with max) Zara and her family just fucking pisses me off! (Holy shit that is right now Robert is gone there goes their help) I dropped my book reading livys death tears were falling but no sound was coming out I was just ripped apart! Now let's talk about that deleted scene: why why why why why has Emma's feeling are not in the same anymore is it because there only hope is gone, his family's death or what???? I'm really thinking Annabel now that's the unseelie king took her I feel like she is so angry at the blackthorns after that whole trial that she is going to help him cause she has the black book!! So I just am in awe!
***Potential spoilers*** I could be wrong because I haven't re-read TMI in a while, but wasn't Michael Wayland in love with Robert, who was his parabatai? Maybe this is why Magnus told Emma and Julien to go talk to him, because he knew that Robert would be more sympathetic than anyone else because he's experienced parabatai love in some way before!
Okay this review is perfect and all, and I agree with everything and you're so prettyy. BUT you forgot about my most favourite scene, when Dru tells Jules that she feels like she isn't part of the family and what Jules says back like OHMYFUCKINGOD I AM CRYINGG😭 SO BEAUTIFUL. And hey what do you think about Christina Mark Kieran thing? I love Christina but I so love Kieran too! I just don't know, what's your opinion?
I loved your video as always. I couldn't agree more with your thoughts and I'm so excited for Chain of Gold!!! There's this scene in Cristina's bedroom where she sees the initials JB+LH inscribed on the wall and I'm so intrigued now, I need to find out how Jesse came back to live and how Lucie and him got to know each other.
Emmmabooks I have want to remind you about two pieces of information that you already know but have forgotten. First, Robert was going to go easy on Julian and Emma about the exile because Michael had once told him that he was in love with Robert. This second realization probably will be more shocking. The Seelie Queen said that The Unseelie King had taken someone from her court and she wanted them back. I think that she was talking about her and Sebastian's son. Remember when Dru saw the boy: he looked like Sebastian, the boy was wearing a Fearie crown, and on the wall of the room was the sign of the king the broken crown.
I was thinking.Clary's dream, it reminded me that Magnus said that he too was having the same dreams that he had before The Dark War. Then I had a disturbing thought; what if Clary's dream in TMI about the two fighting angels on an icy plane, what if that wasn't about the end of Sebastian. What if that dream is about Sebastian's son?!? Also, I predict that Kieran will become the new Unseelie King or he will take over the Wild Hunt for Gywn so that Gywn can be with Dianna.
Yall im crying so much right now😭. I just finished the book and my heart is in pieces. I came here to see what was all of the other readers thoughts on this book.
With the time thing with Sebastian's potential baby, remember how Arthur and his brother were only meant to stay in faerie for one night, and even though in the human realm it was only that, they came back and they'd been there for like 7 years?? This to me shows that any kid could easily be any age.
I loved your book talk. I finished the book and watched this because I was in shock from the book. I foreshadowed that the ending would be crazy but for a moment I had hope that it might all be OK, but that hope lasted about 30 seconds. I love all the characters so much, but the twins and Kit's held a special place in my heart. I'm also a huge KitTy fan. They are just so cute, and I'll be happy with whatever route their relationship takes. The information Julian gets about the bond made me want to write Cassie Clare and tell her she couldn't do that to my heart. But after my initial horror, I have faith in whatever she wants to do with her story. Comparing her beginning work to this series definitely makes you realize how much she's grown as an author. Sidenote: Your accidental Ty-Livvy slip made me feel for one second I'd misunderstood something about the characters until I realized you meant Kit. I took a huge breath of relief that all was well in the world again.
This is my first Emmmabooks video and I'm IN LOVE! Agreed with all the points & so fun watch...I talked to my screen a little more than socially a acceptable...that being said my only thought I have to put out there is I truly don't know how Julian and especially Ty are going to recover. I know Jules has Emma (sorta) and Ty will lean on Kit but the guilt & grief & trauma that they were experiencing. Dru watching another family member die at the hands of a fellow Blackthorn (*Jules killing their father), Helen having just seen her again...I'm so afraid this could send Julian down a dark path... spring of 2019 can't come soon enough!
So I just finished Lord of Shadows and I'm so sad and heartbroken but also filled with happiness at this book and about the fact that this video made me feel all the feels again and I just loved this book so much! 😍💕 I can't wait for the final book! 🙌
I love Diana's scene and how she opened up about who she is.. my heartttttttt And omg when Livvy told Kit they would be friends forever, I should have saw it coming. And OMG when Livvy is dead in Julian's arm and the last sentence of the book is the clock chiming and remember when Livvy told kit and ty that when it struck the hour the door to heaven opens up for just seconds. 😢 ... I'm shOoK
As Julian pointed out at the end of Lord of Shadows, hope is the most dangerous thing a person can have. (Sorry I don't know the exact quote) but it is true for everything that Cassie writes about because whenever we hope for something to be figured out, it is ripped away from us by the end of the novel. But I love this book so much and I honestly have no idea how I am going to wait for the final book
It would be ideal if you read the first 3 books of The Mortal Instruments then read The Infernal Devices Trilogy, then continue the last 3 books of the TMI series. That is the way they were meant to be and released and you won't be spoiled as well then you can start these new series TDA
I was not ready for how amazing this book was going to be!! My one problem was the lack of Jem and Tessa because I thought since they were going to the London institute that they would be there. I can't wait the two years for the last book! I need it now!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I bought my copy today, and I'm just going to start it, but I just wanna say that whatever happens in this book, I'm gonna be ready to fangirl by your side for 33 minutes! 💕 I know this book won't dissapoint and I know this review will have everything to contain my emotions after I finish😂💕
I just finished and my first thought was "I need to watch emma's video!!!" I am crying, whatever I thought was going to happen was NOT that.... I am still processing everything. Thankfully I have your video to watch!
I loved your review, btw! I finished Lord of Shadows today and I needed to see someone talking about the deaths! Man, I'm still in shock. I had to read the last three pages seven times, I just couldn't accept
Hey girl just wanted to let you know I adore your channel you've inspired me to read the shadowhunter books I have them all and displayed proudly just finished city of bones and your video on what order to read them will be so helpful
I just finished reading this book and you hit ALL THE POINTS I thought of and some I skipped over. I absolutely loved this video! Thank you so much for making this. I honestly wished they would've made it through the trial and listen to Kieran's representation. Also I couldn't cry after finding out Livvy died even after reading Julian's dialog over again. Do you think that the next book will pick up where this one had left off or will there be a time skip of a couple of weeks?
Omg I did not realize it until you talked about how with Robert lightwood's death Emma and Julian's last chance of escaping the parabatai curse also disappeared. Thanks 😊
"The one word for Lord of Shadows is shook" - you got that right! I just finished this book FINALLY! And I was a sobbing mess, and I was literally like "I need to go watch Emma's review" she'll understand my pain 😂 I do agree with how Cassie's deaths have never really bothered me or made me too sad, so I definitely agree with you and I respect Cassie so much for it. But it did tear my heart apart and I was a literal mess!!
I think the cohort is somehow responsible for Magnus being sick. Zara was just too smug when she saw him sick and the cohort thinks warlocks have too much power, they are so up to something.
I finished the book about an hour ago. Still not okay. The ending had me sobbing. I can't believe we have to wait 2 years for the next book. 😭 Great review, Emma!
I live in Switzerland so I wasn't able to get it the day it came out (On my birthday, God I wish I lived in the US) but my best friend ordered it for me, it should come in about 2 weeks AND I CANNOT WAIT!! I'm rereading Lady Midnight to be really in mood ;)
omg omg so i might have missed something but when Dru uses the thing from Jamie and meets this boy...what if he is the seelie queen's and sebastian's son?! cause we don't know who he is right?
I can't watch loads of this because SPOILERS, but am excited to venture into this series. The audiobook of the first book was free on audible - not sure if it still is or not. I'm relatively new to making BookTube videos myself, and absolutely love your passion. I'm disabled so struggle to get out and talk with other book lovers (to be fair, they are probably at home reading a good book anyway, lol), so love to chat to people in the comments and on my channel about books. I'm trying to get back in to Cassandra Clare as read her first few books what seems like years ago! xx
I'm disabled as well. In fact, I was thinking about writing some fan fiction about a wheelchair bound shadowhunter; remembering that Henry Branwell was severely injured in Clockwork Princess and was talking about building a chair that had all sorts of bells and whistles on it to make it possible for him to continue his work. I was really disappointed to read in Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy that his son had been taking care of him because he was so severely mentally disabled as well..I had been hoping he had overcome his difficulties and built a really cool steampunk sort of chair that could walk up and down stairs or something..
Hannah Hodgson! That's exactly what I was thinking. I was really disappointed; especially because it really seemed like she was going to go in a different direction. Can you imagine a crazy Murder Ball like fighting wheelchair bound Shadowhunter? I was also thinking about this because I wanted to make a Shadowhunter outfit and since I'm in a wheelchair I was trying to figure out how to incorporate it..
i mean we won't really know for sure what happened with henry until the last hours, so maybe hold on to hope that he wasn't just in a fragile mental state the whole time? :)
My theory is that either Cortana will be shattered by some force and Emma will be rendered useless or Cortanta can cut the parabatai bond. Kit and Ty for parabatai anyone?
Robert was the perfect person for the Parabatai issue!! Michael Wayland was in love with him and deep down he felt little affection for him as well. There would have been no one more sympathetic but of course that was too perfect! I was filled with a beautiful medley of emotions while reading this book, the primary one being joy, and it made me love Lady Midnight more. I just finished so I'm also in shock and I can't imagine the horror that awaits us, the lovers of the Shadowhunter Chronicles in the next installment. Not my Clary!!!!!!!! She needs to talk to someone besides Emma!
Oops didn't mean to delete my previous comment. Thank you Cat for answering my question! Anyway, as I was saying: this is an amazing review, Emma. I love how passionate you are about this world and how you catch every single detail. I loved every page of this book as well and TDA is for sure my favourite series in the Shadowhunters chronicles so far. It will be really hard to wait two years for QoAaD. There so many things who need to be resolved: the Cohort, the Lord of Shadows' threat, the Cold Peace, the Parabatai curse... It will be one hell of a book!!
i think my favorite part of the book was the scene where dru confronted julian and was like i wanna be here "im older than you were when you killed dad sometimes i feel like im not included in this family" and you could tell that she was nervous and i just dru we dont see enough of her and i also really felt for the scene where julian and emma get back from cornwall and mark went up to julian all hesitant and julian realizes how his jealously has affected mark and mark is like im sorry i tried my best and julian is like its ok and marks face LIT UP and my heart swelled omg
Michael Messina I have strong negative feelings towards Julian. He's almost obsessive. I wonder if not having regular life experiences because he's been so wrapped up in taking care of everyone and that has somehow warped his way of thinking. But his not caring about anyone else outside of Emma and his family to a lesser extent is a very negative character trait in my opinion. He does not care who he hurts. Something is innately wrong in that thinking. And he is inherently selfish. Hopefully in the next book he grows and I come to like him. But I have yet to like him in either of the two books.
LoS downloaded onto my tablet at 00:05, I was waiting for it, and finished it eight hours later - it made me sob. I hadn't even picked up on how Robert's death would effect Emma and Julian until you said it. Livvy's death was devastating, and I can't wait to see but am dreading how it will affect Ty and Julian in QoAaD. I love Kit and Ty together, the scene where Ty broke down and Kit held him was beautiful. I absolutely believe that the Seelie Queen and Sebastian had a child. Do you have any other initial theories for QoAaD? Great, great review x
I can't believe we have so long to wait until we have more of these characters :( But maybe the first of the Eldest Curses and the Last Hours trilogy will release and keep us going!!
Contains SPOILERS: I think in the ending the Unseelie King just helped Annabelle escape because she still had the Black Volume in her possession and the King clearly wanted it, since he had already sent the Riders to retrieve it. But I think it will be interesting to see how Annabelle reacts to being taken and where her loyalties will lie. In the ending I was so worried about everything that was going on and hating the Cohort so much that it took me a while to realize that now they also won't have the support of the Seelie Queen in an eventual war and everything is just so against the Blackthorns odds and I can't wait 2 more years to see how it will all unfold. Your review was amazing as always. Love your videos 😘
My reaction to this entire review was YAAAS. You managed to voice all of my thoughts. The only comment I have is that I listened to Lord of Shadows and "Jamie" (don't know how its spelled) is pronounced Hy-may. I think it's a Spanish pronunciation.
Can u make a video talking about each TDA characters with your Illustrated History book?? ....and rate the illustrations as to how accurate they are from how u imagined the characters.... and have your thoughts about their history??..... I'd LOVE to listen to U talking about them for minutesss!!!
I was so devastated bc of Robert's death. His character developed so much after TMI and he became such a great person and really took responsibility for all his past mistakes and finally became a better father and grandfather and fixed his relationship with Alec and NOW HE'S GONE.
It seems like everyone has forgotten that Robert Lightwood's parabatai, Michael wayland, was in love with him. And Robert has regretted how he treated him when he found out. That's one of the reasons he agreed to help Emma and Jules.
Let's not forget that Ty JUST agreed to be Livvy's parabati like THANKS CASSIE
I CRY
yes............
Ha ha, yes....
Rachel Varghese I didn't think of it that way. But I agree with you.
Julian sobbing over Livvys body is actually going to haunt me for life...I had to read the part over to make sure I didn't misread anything because...wow.
Magnus is sick...
Tessa is sick...
You all know what it is...
DEMON POX!!!!!!!!! 😂😂😂
Are you by any chance Will's descendant?
🤣😭
@@katarinastrugar1846 another lost herondale??🧐😂
Wait a minute do warlocks get demon poxs lol
Can we also just talk about how Livvy didn't want to kiss Kit a second time because she knew he was for Ty 😭😭😭
Holy frick I actually cried 😭😭😭😭😭
Cassandra Clare's biggest talent is tearing my heart out
Also, WHY IN THE HECK DIDN'T THEY MAKE ZARA HOLD THE MORTAL SWORD TO FIND OUT IF SHE KILLED MALCOLM OR NOT!!!
BookishBibliomania 94 THIS IS WHAT I WAS WONDERING!!!!!
KourtReadsBooks the burden of proof always falls on the one making the claim. Since everyone believed Zara killed Malcolm, Annabelle needed to prove she was the one who did it.
BookishBibliomania 94 OMG THATS SO TRUE!!! If they had just done that instead of making Annabel hold it, they could've avoided so many things
Are we just going to ignore the fact that Bridget is still the cook 130 years later?! I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here!
Cassie confirmed that it really is Bridget and the reason why she's still alive will be explained in TLH. :D
Scarlett Ashlin King good because i was super confused
This Drove me Crazy Thinking About It, I Read The Infernal Devices Again to See Why She is Still Alive but There is Nothing.
Tyler Scanlon I think Cassie said that will be explained in The Last Hours how she is now immortal
I was more confused that she wasn't singing I didn't care that she was alive so much longer later
Y'all... what if Julian loses it and tries to use the Black Book to bring Livvy back? He's said over and over again he would do anything for his family...
Zoe Lala I was literally about to comment this - Julian has been becoming slowly more and more dark throughout the two books, and I honestly believe he would use the black book to bring back Livvy (maybe because of the curse taking hold, but idk)
OH FUCK. OH NO. NO. NO.
bro u predicted it. cassie released the qoaad sampler and TY is trying to use the book t bring her back. i dont even know what to do honestly.
WHY DIDN'T THEY MAKE ZARA HOLD THE SWORD INSTEAD OF ANNABEL
xXGlitterDolphin14714 I was wondering that through the entire scene!
xXGlitterDolphin14714 agree...this little piece of the hole book made me feel so disappointed... 😓
THIS IS WHAT IM THINKING ABOUT ALL ALONG
Maybe Cristina, Mark and Kieran will be the first polyamory realtionship in Cassandra Clare's books
about the whole demon baby theory the boy also asked Dru if her mother had send her which would make sense if his mother was the Unseelie queen
OMG FINALLY I FOUND SOMEONE WHO SHIPS MARK AND CRISTINA, their relationship is a beautiful healthy relation based on trust, respect and mutuality, its so refreshing.
I think that be an awesome idea. Its way better than having a love triangle.
polandbananasBOOKS "But I'm still banking on the baby"
at the end I started crying so much, partly because of Livvy, but mostly because of what it will do to Julian and the amount of grief that he'll probably feel.
Nayeli Trejo Exactly! All the Blackthorns will be crushed . It was there reactions that got me ....
Georgia Ellis ikr I couldn't stop crying😭
Not just Julian. What about Ty? Livvy was everything to him. 😭
Nayeli Trejo i cant really connect to julian that much... but livvy dying is the end of me
Nayeli Trejo Same, i liked Livvy but just knowing how much the rest of the family is going to feel, epecially Ty (my bae) and how much Julian did to protect all of them just to see her die...God. my heart. The way Julian screams when he sees what's happened and how he holds her telling her to wake up. God damn it cassandra
Are you wearing white because you're in mourning?
I love how Cassie uses her series to portray different aspects of shadowhunters. TMI kind of glorified shadowhunting. However I liked how in TID you get to see (In the stuff that will says to Tessa in the first book) how racist and horrible some of the aspects of shadowhunting is. I love that vampires and werewolves were prominent in tmi, and technology and the invention of it was prominent in tid, and now we are focusing on faeries. Cassie set up the progression of the cold peace so perfectly. This was honestly her best work ever.
Honestly, Julian is how I imagined young Valentine to be. Charming and able to persuade people to do things he wants. He is going dark.
good parallel!
I made that parallel too!!
Hi friends! If you're stopping by just to talk about your excitement about Lord of Shadows, I'm happy you're here! Just be aware that there are spoilers in the comments section, so feel free to leave your own thoughts, but make sure you've finished before scrolling through the rest of the comments.
Love you guys!!
i think the reason the unseelie king took anabel at the end of the book is because she knows his name
axell reddy Ohhhh I really like this theory
Does anyone else see that Malcom and Annabelle love story is a foreshadowment of Julian and Emma's love story?
>They both have been together since childhood
>They both were somehow illegal
>Malcom makes a deal with the unseelie king
>Julian makes a deal with the Seelie queen
>Julian has also said multiple times that he understands why Malcom did it and alluded to him doing it for Emma
This will not end well it almost like Cassandra Clare is setting up her next villain, which is interesting because I know a lot of people are attached to Julian. This would lead to good vs. evil bc we would finally understand the evil side. IDK just a theory
emmmabooks
i feel like everyone is so hurt by kieran since he betrayed the blackthorns in the first book but somehow i still can't hate him?? like?!? he's my cinnamon roll and he could burn down the world and i'd still love him?? this is sick but yeah thats just my opinion
YES YOU ARE NOT ALONE
SPOILER
If it was the Unseelie King that took Annabel at the end, then he has the Black Volume since Annabel had it with her so we're even more screwed
Alyssa Bruss OMG I NEVER MADE THAT CONNECTION!!! SCREWED
XD
Aya Balisany yyaaasss I agree with this about Mark Kieran and Christina and I'm here for it lol shipping it so hard
Julian did try to put a healing rune but she died straight away and when shadowhunters die runes don't work and just fade away so it wouldn't have worked
No the three of them won't end up together. Mark and Christina will be together. I think Kieran will be alone
@@jigeummybear I dont think julian would have cared about that in that moment
OMG EMMA, you said "Livvy and Ty kiss" and instead of Livvy and Kit 😂
omg literally end my life i always slip up XD
emmma may I'M DYING
yes it was Livvy and KIT kiss
SPOILER AHEAD
Livvy's death had me soooooo SHOOK!!!!! Like I thought we were done there but NOOOO Annabel just goes off and stabs her! Like WTH
CoCo ForBooks o my gosh, exactly like I had faith in u Annabelle and u totally messed that up! 😭!whyyyyyy
just finished the boo and went to straight to your and Christine's booktalks! the last line of the book about the clock really got to me, bc of a couple pages back when livvy tells kit about the theory that when he clock chimes a certain hour that gateway to heaven opens, and then right after livvy dies the clock chimed and I imagined her soul going to heaven.
Some thoughts I had about the rest of the book:
-Gwyn and Diana? I SHIP IT SO MUCH WHEN HE KNELT BEFORE HER OH MY GOD.
- I love the "Oh no there's only one bed" trope so much, all the times it happened to Emma and Julian! Also Magnus walking in on them was priceless.
- Malcolm coming back *pretends to be shocked* It was a little shocking when Annabel killed him though, I thought the same as you did, that they would team up together.
- OH MY GOD I'M SUCH AN IDIOT I DIDN'T EVEN THINK OF WHO THE FAERIE BOY COULD BE GAHHHHHH
- Malcolm's diaries had me in tears, poor baby.
I don't want to jynx it but I don't think cassie would kill off jem/tessa/Magnus in a series that isn't like evolved around them
And I completely think the same I feel like you know how Julian would go to any lengths to protect his family 'quote Emma: 'Julian you're scaring me'
I feel like the black book will be huge in this book Aswell like you said I don't think their just going to accept her death like that
I think that maybe that tessa and Magnus are effected and getting sick is because as you said the faerie blight I think !
And with not being able to see a mundane doctor I remember in the book Diana when she was saying to gywn how she was transgender and (Catherine I think that was her name) had to swap her blood test results because of the shadow hunter blood (Angel) so I think that's why
Omg love your comment❤️. I was waiting for someone to mention Bridgit. How is she still alive!!!
i really hope that mark, Kieran and Christina end up as a polyamorous relationship
Is anyone else hoping that the green warlock in the shadow market is Ragnor Fell?
I so hope that it's Ragnor!
ShaeShae Hanson
I don't think Magnus will die because Cassandra is basically writing a Malec trilogy set to come out in a couple years
ShaeShae Hanson
I have a theory on this.
ShaeShae Hanson I really hope they won't die. My heart cannot take it.
Elise Upton Yes I agree.
"NO! No, no, no, no. Did i mention, NO!" Leave Magnus alone! He can't die! I could not bear it ;(
personally my favorite part was when Alec roasted Zara, I was like "you go baby Alec, protect Magnus!!!!" I loved all the TLH and TID references.
I LOVE THE MIX BETWEEN THE INFERNAL DEVICES AND THE DARK ARTIFICES
-They went to the London Institute and there were so so many references, like Bridget smiling to herself about the plate of scones (probably about Sophie and Gideon) and also Bridget is alive.
-Jessamine was there and the books had "Will H" and "James Herondale" written on them
-HYACINTH IS KITS FAERIE FRIEND AND SHE WAS IN CLOCKWORK PRINCE!! she is the one from the masquerade ball who told Tessa things about her mother, etc.
Love your comment.A lot of people misunderstand Julian but he is not a bad person like some people project him out to be.
cassie confirmed it's the same bridget but we'll soon learn of how she's alive :)
Also, let's not forget the fact that Ty just agreed to be Livvy's parabatai. :(
hello hello, i love your profile picture
Also, that scene with ty and kit on the roof holding each other omg that was my favorite scene EVER!
Fine Jaime and Dru cute but ugh no she's so young ... and even Cecily practically saying she knew who she wanted to marry at 15....haha
Maybe they will defeat the Unseelie King in this series and leave Sebastians's kid (that Ash dude) for the Wicked Powers????
Julian's black eyes ....AHHHHH is he turning into a monster already??????
SEMI SPOILER ALERT 🚨
The whole book I was waiting for Ty and Kit to kiss.
Cassie said that it is the same Bridget from TID, and her immortality would be cleared up in The Last Hours
just wanted to add that when christina was singing to rafael, it meant soooo much to me! my mom used to sing that to me as well♡ idk made me super happy and representation is super duper important
My book doesn't arrive for another week or so but I can't wait to read it 😁
i hope you love it!
emmmabooks thanks! from all of the sneak peeks on cassie clare's instagram, it looks like it's gonna be great
Stayed up all night reading, sooooooo good! That last chapter though, the only word I can think of is shattered.
ILL DIE TOO
NOOOOOO. WHY DID I READ THIS COMMENT WHY
How will we make it until 2019 for QoAaD? :(
I WILL DIE
Nope it comes out in 2019 in 2018 Cassie is starting the Last Hours series the first book is coming out in 2018 Chain of Thorns. I believe the release is to mimic how the Infernal Devices books came out mixed with the release of the Mortal instruments books.
Impossible Loves I know this is old but the release date has been moved up to December 4, 2018 :))) !!!! super excited!
***Potential spoilers***
I could be wrong because I haven't re-read TMI in a while, but wasn't Michael Wayland in love with Robert, who was his parabatai?
Colleen West I did not forget about the Robert/Michael thing but that's a really great theory about the unseelie king!
Colleen West why would Gwyn need to quit his job to be with Diana though? Lol
The colour of your eyes are so pretty!! 😍
thank you
Yall im crying so much right now😭. I just finished the book and my heart is in pieces. I came here to see what was all of the other readers thoughts on this book.
I ship ty and kit so much
With the time thing with Sebastian's potential baby, remember how Arthur and his brother were only meant to stay in faerie for one night, and even though in the human realm it was only that, they came back and they'd been there for like 7 years??
I'm coming back in a few days
please do! :)
emmmabooks update finished and I'm back. I'm not okay the end 😭😭😭😭
So I just finished Lord of Shadows and I'm so sad and heartbroken but also filled with happiness at this book and about the fact that this video made me feel all the feels again and I just loved this book so much! 😍💕 I can't wait for the final book! 🙌
I love Diana's scene and how she opened up about who she is.. my heartttttttt
And omg when Livvy told Kit they would be friends forever, I should have saw it coming.
And OMG when Livvy is dead in Julian's arm and the last sentence of the book is the clock chiming and remember when Livvy told kit and ty that when it struck the hour the door to heaven opens up for just seconds. 😢
... I'm shOoK
i love your top Emma!! it's gorgeous and so sparkly!!
As Julian pointed out at the end of Lord of Shadows, hope is the most dangerous thing a person can have. (Sorry I don't know the exact quote) but it is true for everything that Cassie writes about because whenever we hope for something to be figured out, it is ripped away from us by the end of the novel. But I love this book so much and I honestly have no idea how I am going to wait for the final book
omg i have yet to read the immortal instruments i know I'm really late 😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😥😍😍😍😍😍
AH YOU MUST THEY ARE MY FAV
ahh i need to 😁😁
emmmabooks i am about to start City of Glass
tributeofbooks Start with The Infernal Devices!
I had to read the last three pages seven times, I just couldn't accept
same here!!!
Emma, how can you be so flawless in every video?
PS: expect me to come back once I finished LoS!! Super excited to hear what you have to say about it!
thank you!!!!
Omg I did not realize it until you talked about how with Robert lightwood's death Emma and Julian's last chance of escaping the parabatai curse also disappeared. Thanks 😊
Loved your review Emma! Also, I know it's been like this for a while now but I really like your hair cut!
Yesssss I ship kitty so much!!! The best thing in the book srsly imo
I'm so excited! I need to get my hands on it ASAP
I'm rereading Lady Midnight to be really in mood ;)
eek that's so exciting!!
omg omg so i might have missed something but when Dru uses the thing from Jamie and meets this boy...what if he is the seelie queen's and sebastian's son?! cause we don't know who he is right?
nevermind i just reached that PART of the video
literally finished the book a minute ago and immediately came to watch your video
Also I'm obsessed with your shirt!
YO WHEN YOU SAID ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE LORD OF SHADOWS IS "SHOOK" OMG OMG I WHOLE HEARTEDLY AGREE HOLY CRAP
Annabelle has the Black Book, it was strapped to her back when she went in to "testify". The Unseelie King took her because she had the book
just bought the book! so excited to start reading it and I got it in perfect time for me going away!! 💕
hope you love it!
I'm trying to get back in to Cassandra Clare as read her first few books what seems like years ago! xx
that's so wonderful!!! i'm glad you're trying to give her books a chance :)
Jwlhyfer de Winter Urgh. Why is disability always so negative in books?! Go you, changing perceptions and feelings one fanfic at a time! 📚👍🏻😊
I couldn't stop crying after I finished this so I came and watched this, thank you so much for this omg my heart
Emma, Magnus suggested they go to Robert Lightwood because of Michael Wayland
Oops didn't mean to delete my previous comment. Thank you Cat for answering my question!
Anyway, as I was saying: this is an amazing review, Emma. I love how passionate you are about this world and how you catch every single detail. I loved every page of this book as well and TDA is for sure my favourite series in the Shadowhunters chronicles so far. It will be really hard to wait two years for QoAaD. There so many things who need to be resolved: the Cohort, the Lord of Shadows' threat, the Cold Peace, the Parabatai curse... It will be one hell of a book!!
thank you so so much love
i think my favorite part of the book was the scene where dru confronted julian and was like i wanna be here "im older than you were when you killed dad sometimes i feel like im not included in this family" and you could tell that she was nervous and i just dru we dont see enough of her and i also really felt for the scene where julian and emma get back from cornwall and mark went up to julian all hesitant and julian realizes how his jealously has affected mark and mark is like im sorry i tried my best and julian is like its ok and marks face LIT UP and my heart swelled omg
Spoiler warning
Julian is going to go so evil in the next book! Especially because of Livey and the parabatai curse with Emma
Michael Messina Definitely. He's basically Anakin Skywalker.
I just bought it today I'm super excited to read it!!!!!!!!
I'll be back once I finish it
Also there was an old woman at the London Institute named Bridget and in The Infernal Devices the maid's name was Bridget!!!
Have you ordered the Waterstones edition? Mine just got here today meaning I can finally read it😆 (& it's absolutely gorgeous😍) .
i have! i cannot wait for it :)
I had the EXACT same thought about the faerie boy dru saw!!! I immediately thought the queen and Sebastians love child!!!
Contains SPOILERS:
I think in the ending the Unseelie King just helped Annabelle escape because she still had the Black Volume in her possession and the King clearly wanted it, since he had already sent the Riders to retrieve it.
